Archive

Two things

  1. If you archive a user talk page, please add a link to the archived page somewhere at the top of the page, so other users could access it easier.
  2. I noticed you did four edits to a subpage of your userspace. Instead, be sure to preview your edits so you can catch errors. That way, you can reduce the amount of consecutive edits.

Thanks! Berrenta (talk) 21:03, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

1. Okay, will do. How would I get to an archive?
2. I did use preview. The first three edits I didn't want to do all at once, and the fourth was adding something I didn't know about when I was editing (the candidates for mainspace thing). I do try to use the preview feature. ----Celadonkey 21:49, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Welcomes

FYI, we usually don't welcome users who haven't made any contributions. There are many accounts created on BP that never make any edits.

(Also, you need to add a link to the old talk page you archived at the top of this page, like Berrenta said above.)

Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:16, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for telling me. But like I asked Berrenta, how would I get to the archive? I don't remember the link I put it at. --Celadonkey 21:18, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
Your archive is User talk:Celadonkey/Archive. I know, it's sometimes hard to find things once you've moved them :) For future reference, if you start typing in the search bar, it'll give you a drop down with suggestions, that's how I found your archive--just started typing "User talk:Celadonkey" and it popped up :) slimey01 00:53, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
You could also see it right in this page's history. Or you could even check your own contributions (up near the "log out" link). Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:15, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
Done! Thanks. --Celadonkey 15:03, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Trivia edits

Hey so uh idk how else to talk to you so I hope this is ok?? Anyway regarding Trivia, actually yeah I read the page you posted (Trivia Policy) and as I've been looking at the highest stats( for each type) the other day, I noticed there are more than 2 way ties sometimes, so I edited those out. However I wanted to ask (I assume you're not a Trivia mod or anything but still) - when it comes to the Shuckle/Mega Steelix/Mega Aggron tie with Defense, it's the highest Defense of all Pokemon, is that notable enough or not? I'd leave it on Shuckle's page, because it mentions its extreme stat distribution, but idk about the other two... thanks for help. KingisNitro (talk) 20:30, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

I'm not a mod at all, lol. I don't even think I've been a member for a year! (although I have been using Bulbapedia since at least 2008 for info) the trivia policy page isn't mine, it's forcefire's.
Honestly having something on Shuckle's page seems fine as long as you mention "non-mega evolved". --Celadonkey 20:32, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
Just poking my head in here, staff members such as Tiddlywinks regularly remove highest-stat-trivia that mention "non-Mega Evolved" because making exceptions/clarifications like that make it unnotable. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 20:51, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
Huh, didn't know that. I thought it did the opposite. Thanks. --Celadonkey 21:01, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the comment, I mean with Shuckle I think it should stay because it's out of all Pokemon+Shuckle's Trivia talks about extremity of its stat distribution, but guess it should be edited out of Steelix and Aggron articles. I'm going ahead and deleting them until someone comes along and decides something else.
(Also, regarding non-Megas; Arceus's Defense still stays lmao...) KingisNitro (talk) 21:07, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
Just stepping in, ties for the highest base stat or highest bst are notable. Other ties are not notable, however.--ForceFire 04:21, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
(Edit) This goes for lowest base stats and lowest bst as well.--ForceFire 04:41, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Hey Celadonkey

I dont understand much of how to reply and stuff, so here is my reply, putting this on your page

Just a reply to your answer, I dont see any way to add a language on the side, just the ones that are there. Please help? - unsigned comment from Adrizz (talkcontribs)

Well, first of all, some talk page etiquette: Always sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~). Pressing enter five times in order to make a space between lines takes up a lot of room; one space between lines will do.
Second of all, Bulbapedia is an English wiki. It is affiliated with, but not operated by the same people as Pokemon wikis in other languages, such as PokeWiki in German, Pokepedia in French, or 52Poke in Chinese. If you want to edit in a different languages, I'd go to those wikis. If you want to add a link on a Bulbapedia article to a corresponding article in, say, French, what you'd do is put [[fr:(the name of the French article here)]] at the bottom of the Bulbapedia article.
I hope I answered your question. --Celadonkey 20:24, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
But what I mean is a totally new language, which isnt there a.k.a Norwegian, my native tounge.
Sooo what can I do? - unsigned comment from Adrizz (talkcontribs)
First of all, good job with the spacing, but remember to put four tildes (~~~~) after you've finished your comment. This makes a signature. Also, make sure to add colons before your comments. I added some for you, you can look in the code to see what I mean. You should add one more colon than the person before you did.
To make a new wiki in a completely new language is outside of Bulbapedia's powers. As I said, Bulbapedia is "affiliated with, but not operated by the same people as Pokemon wikis in other languages". This means the people who operate Bulbapedia do not also operate foreign Pokemon wikis. To make a new wiki, you'd have to set up your own server, and set everything up there, and then contact Bulbapedia to see if you can affiliate with the owners. --Celadonkey 20:31, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
Side note: I see you've added Magearna's Norwegian name, and that's awesome. If you could add the Norwegian name for as many Pokemon as possible, that would be great, and I'm sure Bulbapedia would really appreciate it. --Celadonkey 20:33, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Removing the one at Mega Evolving

Yes, I talked specific about Sun and Moon, as its the only game I know how to obtain these things, and others could've added the X and Y version and fixed that, instead, you removed the whole thing, please.

I even copied the whole thing

In Pokémon Sun and Moon you can obtain a Key Stone and a Alakazite by going to Vast Poni Canyon and then walking on the path to the Battle Tree There you will be greeted by Dexio and Sina.Dexio tells you about the mega stone, and challenges you to a battle. He will have these pokemon,at level 61, an Espeon, an Alolan Raichu, a Slowking, an Metagross and an Alakazam holding an Alakazite, and Dexio mega evolves Alakazam into an Mega Alakazam, and if you beat Dexio, he gives you both items, and you are free to continue to the Battle Tree where you can buy various Mega Stones for BattlePoints (BP)

yes i did.

Soooooooo, can you readd it please?

Adrizz (talk) 21:11, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, I read it. The reason I undid it is because this is the type of thing you'd find in a walkthrough. Maybe a more concise, less detailed version could be added elsewhere on the page, but this is way too specific and in the wrong place.
A lot of things that you write will be undone. A lot of things I've added have been undone. After some time, you will get a grasp on the type of style and information Bulbapedia strives for. --Celadonkey 21:20, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
Hey, I just added a summary for X and Y, as I found a video online how to, and then just read this, could you reedit it to fit more what you mean? - unsigned comment from Adrizz (talkcontribs)
Thanks for checking in. After some careful thought, I decided that this belongs at the Key Stone article, because it's about obtaining the ability to Mega Evolve, not the process of Mega Evolution itself, but... It's already there. Sorry :C --Celadonkey 21:47, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
Oh.. Well, Im new to atchually wiki editing. Im not known that that part belongs there and then I think its that place and blah blah blah. Well, its just a noobish dude trying to help, (thats me)
Well, anyways, I gotta go soon, so bye!
Adrizz (talk) 21:51, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Comments

Please do not edit talk page comments, even your own, to fix any errors. Just leave them be. Thank you.--ForceFire 07:04, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Alright. --Celadonkey 11:05, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Category linking

Just a tip, when linking directly to category pages, use either {{cat}} or a colon before "Category" (eg. [[:Category: X]]). Linking categories like any other namespace just adds the page to the category instead of creating an actual link.--Cold (talk) 23:11, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Woah, that's bad! I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know. --Celadonkey 23:24, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Location names

As a rule, I would ask that you not change text in item location descriptions based on the guidebook's names. Oftentimes, your change turns the description from something immediately useful to something completely opaque unless people realize they have to look elsewhere on the page as well. And those descriptions should be as helpful as possible without asking people to go back and forth on the page.

Can you also tell me whether any of these area names are used outside of captions? I'm wondering if these are really capitalized names or if they might only be in title case because of the context you're taking it from (and sentence case could be the proper default). Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:21, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

Spaceworld

Are you still working on your userspace page about Spaceworld? Or are you done? sumwun (talk) 03:41, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

I have been hoping to finish it but I have not been on Bulbapedia as often anymore— I have a lot of other things going on. If you'd like to help out it would be appreciated. Why do you ask? --Celadonkey 21:15, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
I guess I just want to see all of the leaked beta Pokemon listed in one place. sumwun (talk) 23:45, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, me too. I kind of wish (read: I very much wish) that we could just start putting stuff in the mainspace slowly rather than all at once, because then more activity would be spurred, but until then, I will just occasionally work on my stuff. --Celadonkey 03:33, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
If you want to see all of the beta Pokémon in one place, I finished a list here. --Celadonkey 22:00, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Oh, uhh.. 'Bout the Xerneas and forces of natures

I had no idea why I even edited that right after I found it in the sandbox thing. Maybe because the other ones seemed legit :/ SeeYaLater (sandbox) (talk) 16:07, 13 January 2019 (UTC)

Bulbapedia Rework

Hello, Carmenstar97. My name is Xeraphyy. Last month, a tweet was made announcing that Bulbapedia was going through some site upgrades. The link to the tweet is below.

https://twitter.com/Bulbapedia/status/1228458215324545024

I was wondering if the site upgrades are still continuing. Do you know of the status of the rework? Please get back to me when you can. Xeraphyy (talk) 18:18, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

I think you messaged the wrong guy... You can contact Carmenstar97 here. --celadonk (talk) 18:24, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

Hello!

So, um, I went to cinderace’s trivia page to edit it, and I edited it! But it got deleted, why? Btw this is what I typed: Cinderace Is the only generation 8 starter that has 2 signature moves, Pyro Ball and Court Change. What did I do wrong? Motdab (talk) 11:35, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

It's because there's only three Gen VIII starters, and that's not a big enough group to be notable.Animaltamer7 (talk) 15:03, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
This is correct. Force Fire noted it in the edit summary. --celadonk (talk) 16:29, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
oooohhhhh ok, so it isn’t important if it is a small talk? I have to think of huge stuff! Ok thanks!

Move "weather trio" to "Super-ancient Pokémon"

I didn't mean to merge a page by copy-pasting its contents to a new page. I want to move the page "Weather trio" to "Super-ancient Pokémon", but I cannot do that. Would you please do that for me so it preserves the page history and confirms the copyright of all of the page's editors? --SaturnMario, his talk and his contributions 01:16, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

I'll bring it up to the other staff. --celadonk (talk) 02:17, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

general user page help for others

i will just keep this breif, so if your a new user how many edits do you need to make a user page?

this has been S.W.A.I.

Snorlax With Anger Issuess (talk) 03:07, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

Just keep making edits in the mainspace and you'll eventually be able to make your userpage. Animaltamer7 (talk) 04:39, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
SWAI, that number is kept secret. As far as I know there's also a time aspect. Basically what Animaltamer said... as long as you keep being a diligent editor, you'll get that privilege. (Admittedly, I have not been so diligent lately, but that's for mostly personal reasons...)
However, I don't think it's a good idea to just make edits for the purpose of being able to create a userpage. The point of Bulbapedia is to contribute to the site as a whole; it's not a social media. That's more or less why the specifics are kept secret.
Also, I hope this doesn't come off as rude, but Animaltamer, you don't need to answer questions for me on my talk page. Although I might not be going out of my way to edit much, I do check my watchlist every single day for anything important. I appreciate the sentiment though. --celadonk (talk) 21:25, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

Delete Account

Hey, I'm just trying to figure out how I can do about deleting my account here per the California Consumer Privacy Act. Do you know what I would need to do or who I would need to talk to?

Thanks - unsigned comment from Brieoncrackers (talkcontribs)

I've brought it up to staff. --celadonk (talk) 03:33, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to safely delete user accounts on Bulbapedia due to limitations in the Mediawiki software. This issue has been raised with the developers of the Mediawiki software, and the feature may be made available in the future.
If you would like to discuss your options under the CCPA for account anonymization, or simply would like a copy of all information Bulbagarden currently has about you, please send an email to [email protected] --celadonk (talk) 13:17, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Anime series sections

Hey, I created a proposal of adding series sections in the articles for Pokémon species. For instance, adding "Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl", "Pokémon the Series: Black & White", etc. sections in Pikachu.

This is being discussed here: Bulbapedia talk:Editor's Hub#Pokémon pages with anime series sections. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 23:04, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Hey Daniel,
I don't really watch the anime, but I can check the proposal out. Thanks for letting me know. --celadonk (talk) 01:47, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
Sure, no problem. :) --Daniel Carrero (talk) 01:54, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Type effectivness

I see you reverted my edits on type pages. I thought that since "Effectiveness" section show type relations, there should be mentioned moves that technically are particular type but break the rules on type relations.--Rocket Grunt 14:19, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

I don't think it's useful information. Struggle is a move that has a lot of separate type effectiveness properties from its type, compared to something like Freeze-Dry, so listing it on all of the affected types is quite redundant. This is why, I assume, that Flying Press isn't listed on the Grass page as well, for example. For some moves it's much better to just list it on the move's page, and I believe the moves you were adding fall into that.
If you'd like to bring it up for further discussion, you can post about it on a talk page. --celadonk (talk) 19:15, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
It is absolutely necessary to write every exception to the rule. We can't allow to have any misleading information. I'm still considering the addition of Flying Press as it isn't really dual type move in game data. --Rocket Grunt 20:06, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
I see that you've gone ahead and added it all back. You need to bring it up on a talk page before adding it to the articles, especially when you're undoing an administrator- this is verging on edit warring. --celadonk (talk) 22:30, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Greetings

I've made a very large number of helpful mainspace edits. I humbly ask if there's a possibility to bring me back my userspace privileges. Finally, once I get my userspace privileges back, I will prove to you that I will be responsible with the userspace privileges in the future by remembering to use the preview button while exiting userspace pages, so as to avoid editing many times in a row. --SaturnMario, his talk and his contributions 04:41, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

Hey SaturnMario,
You might have a better time bringing this up to some other staff, I'm just a junior administrator and I honestly had no idea that your userspace privileges were ever revoked.
I'll pass the message on to the rest of staff, though. --celadonk (talk) 18:18, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
