Main series
History
Pre-series
Prior to its debut, Milotic and Wallace won the Hoenn Grand Festival and Ribbon Cup and became Contest Masters. They often traveled the world to promote the multiregional Wallace Cup.
Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl
Milotic made its first appearance in Our Cup Runneth Over!. It was first seen on the Sinnoh Now television program, along with Wallace, when Rhonda advertised the Wallace Cup taking place on the shores of Lake Valor. Learning that Wallace was nearby, Ash and his friends went looking for him, where they found him and Milotic relaxing near a lake. Milotic instantly strikes up a friendship with Ash's Pikachu and Dawn's Piplup, playing with them in the water.
Later in the day, Milotic and Wallace put on a performance for Ash, his friends, and Team Rocket. Milotic used Safeguard, which created a green light around itself and covered the lake in mist. It then used Aqua Ring, surrounding itself in water bubbles, and followed up with Dragon Pulse to disperse the water. Miltoic then flew around the crowd before finishing with Twister. Having amazed the group, Wallace thanked them for the nice time and departed on Milotic.
In Staging a Heroes' Welcome!, Milotic opened the Wallace Cup by shooting out of the water and creating a pillar of water over the stage. Wallace emerged from it, where it was revealed he would be a special judge for the event.
In Strategy with a Smile!, Milotic and Wallace presented Dawn with the Aqua Ribbon as a reward for winning the Wallace Cup. Milotic then put a close to the event by creating a glittery Hydro Pump.
Pokémon the Series: Black & White
Milotic appeared in a fantasy in Goodbye, Junior Cup - Hello Adventure!.
Pokémon Journeys: The Series
Milotic appeared again in Reuniting for the First Time!, where it was used in a battle against Ash and Pikachu. Milotic was eventually defeated by Pikachu, securing Ash's victory in the battle.
Personality and characteristics
As shown in its debut, Milotic is calm, graceful, and elegant, all great traits for when competing in Pokémon Contests. It has also been shown to be shy, diving under the water when Ash and his friends appeared. Milotic is very talented in Contests, having won Wallace the Hoenn Grand Festival and Ribbon Cup and becoming a Contest Master. It is shown to have a playful side, immediately having fun with Ash's Pikachu and Dawn's Piplup upon meeting them. It cares greatly for its Trainer, and the two always make time for each other despite their busy schedules.
Milotic is able to command the water around it with extreme precision, making whirlpools with ease and using it to levitate objects. It is also a powerful battler, acting as one of Wallace's Pokémon in his Gym challenges.
