Pokémon TCG: Detective Pikachu (Japanese: ムービースペシャルパック 名探偵ピカチュウMovie Special Pack Great Detective Pikachu) is a special subset released during the Sun & Moon Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It features Pokémon from the live-action Pokémon movie of the same name.
Detective Pikachu is a special 18 card subset that was made available in English on March 29, 2019. The set was released in anticipation of the live-action Pokémon movie, Detective Pikachu. It features 3D art by the visual effects studios that worked on the film, the Moving Picture Company and Framestore. Similar to the Generations and Shining Legends expansions, Detective Pikachu booster packs could not be purchased separately and instead, were available exclusively in various set-related products. Each booster pack contains four cards, and all of the cards included within the English release are Holofoil.
The Japanese equivalent set Movie Special Pack Great Detective Pikachu is a 25 card sub-set that was released on April 26, 2019. Each booster pack contains 3 Common cards and an Uncommon card or above. Each booster box contains 20 packs and guarantees to form a complete set[1]. All Common and Uncommon cards included within the Japanese release are Mirror Holofoil.
The Korean set is based on the Japanese set, and was also released on April 26, 2019. However, the Korean set does not include Lt. Yoshida, and all Common and Uncommon cards come in both Non-holofoil and Mirror Holofoil versions, forming a master set of 45 cards. Each booster pack contains 5 cards: 3 Non-holofoil Common cards, a Non-holofoil Uncommon card and either a Mirror Holofoil card or a card. Each booster box contains 20 packs.
The Great Detective Pikachu set is released in Japanese and Korean, only available in unlimited edition. Since the Sun & Moon era, Japanese 1st edition cards are no longer printed. The cards in the Korean set were also available as Reverse Holos. The Detective Pikachu set is released in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese.
