Ultra Prism introduced Prism Star, a classification of cards. Prism Star cards consisted of more powerful Basic Pokémon, Trainer cards, and Energy cards that players could only have one in each deck. They have black card border and rainbow tinges beside the card border and artwork window. The background of the card text area also featured the Prism Star symbol. The Prism Star rule box was located below the artwork. The Lost Zone was reintroduced, with Prism Star cards going to the Lost Zone when discarded. Fossil Pokémon were reverted to the original mechanic of evolving from a shared Trainer card, which could be played as a Basic Pokémon.
The Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon sets are released in Japanese and Korean, both only available in unlimited edition. Since the Sun & Moon era, Japanese 1st edition cards are no longer printed. The Ultra Prism set is released in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese, with cards also available as Reverse Holos.
