Pardon

Sorry if the move conversation got too off track. If the staff is discussing it, I've said my own piece there and will stay back for adminship to decide how to proceed.--Darknesslover5000 (talk) 01:59, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

Oh you're fine! Please feel free to discuss it more if you want, but either way a decision will likely be made on this at some point soon. Landfish7 02:11, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
Understood, but you did break up a pointless discussion. That user and I were talking in circles, so it'll be best to leave it to you guys! Thanks!--Darknesslover5000 (talk)
Yeah I really don't think minds are gonna change much on this. But thanks for contributing to the discussion regardless! Landfish7 02:39, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

Convergent Species Article

So, while I know there is no current official title for the phenomenon, will this wiki ever put up an article for convergent forms? TPC and TPCi don't currently seem to have names in mind, but enough fans are using the terms "Convergent Form" and "Regional Fakes" that I'd think at least one can be used. It's just odd to see the Wiglett line, the Toedscool line, and now Poltchageist, without anything on the wiki to categorise them?--Darknesslover5000 (talk) 04:25, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

We're actually currently working on something here: User:Jacob9594/Ecologically similar Pokémon. Landfish7 04:26, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
That's brilliant! Glad to see you guys are on it! It hit me earlier that there really wasn't a term when I was editing Poltchageist, and I was like "...well we need something". That's a great one. I don't know how much this will help, but it appears the Japanese site uses 生態は似ているが seitai wa nite iruga (ecology is similar) if you wanna add that in.--Darknesslover5000 (talk) 06:20, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
Oh you added it! Thanks! I will look forward to this article's release.--Darknesslover5000 (talk) 05:02, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
It's out now :) Landfish7 05:05, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Light trio

Hi, I was asked to organize some pages and I need more specific information. Do pages for the Light Trio's Pokémon (Nebby, Lunala, and Necrozma) go to specific pages for those Pokémon as this discussion[[1]] suggests?

I sent the contents of the anime page to the main Light trio page and left it only as subsections. https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/index.php?title=Light_trio&diff=3787695&oldid=3767354

I am sending this message specifically to you because you were the one who answered it back in 2021 and indicated these pages here, here, and here. I made some small updates to these pages in order to keep them saved in my history, depending on the response, I make the necessary adjustments.--Hikaru Wazana (talk) 22:34, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

The info for Nebby can be moved to Nebby#In the anime; the info for Lunala can be moved to User:Playerking95/Lunala (anime); and the info for Necrozma can be moved to User:Playerking95/Necrozma (anime). The two userpages can then be mainspaced, and the main series anime sections for Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma on the Light trio page can be condensed down to maybe about a paragraph, with a main article link added to the top of each section, linking to the new split-off pages. The Light trio (anime) page will need to be maintained as a redirect to Light trio. Afterwards, we can probably see how we can incorporate User:Maverick Nate/Nebby (anime) into the anime section in the Nebby article. Landfish7 03:35, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

Type properties

The new format for type properties is great! I'm so happy to know I'll see it every time I'll go on a type page. There's just one thing I'd change. Offensive and defensive properties tables are now separated with a big gap, same as the gap between generations. This could be a little confusing and intimidating to see, for example, to see six seperate tables instead of three sets. What if instead of separating them with <br>, these tables could just use margin-bottom:3px; property?--Rocket Grunt 13:27, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

Good idea. I'll pass it along! Landfish7 18:41, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
Or how about offensive and defensive tables for the same generation in the same horizontal row? → PikaTepig999 21:32, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
The changes that've been made so far pretty much solved my issues with it. Thanks!--Rocket Grunt 16:24, 8 October 2023 (UTC)

Creating templates

Excuse me, are you the wrong person to ask about creating templates on my user subpage?

You're a very respected staff member here, and if you know about templates, I would love to ask you questions to learn from your rich experience! Solemn Mac (talk) 16:31, 22 October 2023 (UTC)

Sandbox content

Hi Landfish7,

You cleaned out the sandbox a couple of weeks ago. In the sandbox, there was some information placed by a user who has since gotten banned. Although I strongly condemn temper tantrums, this user may have been cooking. Would it be acceptable for me to host this content on a userpage?

Thanks --Apopheniac (talk) 13:49, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Yes that should be fine. Thanks for asking! Landfish7 02:12, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

Unite Link Template

Hi, thanks for mainspacing User:SuperPikaPool13/Unite to {{UNITE}}. However, shouldn't it be named Un or Uni, to serve as a shorthand? → PikaTepig999 21:06, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

I checked with another staff member and they said 'UNITE' should be fine. Matches the game title and is the most clear and intuitive. Saving a couple characters would be nice but not really essential. Landfish7 21:19, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
A shorter name would also have matched most of existing disambiguation templates. But if this has been given the okay, that works too. Thanks again. → PikaTepig999 21:27, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
I getchu. I think we've been trying to improve our link templates to be more accessible, easy to use, and easy to remember, so that's sort of the idea with the name of this one. Older link templates are sort of just legacied in, although we've had ideas for replacing or merging some of them in ways that are more straightforward and user-friendly. Landfish7 21:32, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

Type Page Template Change

I noticed just a bit ago that the pages for the individual types were edited a couple months ago to adhere to a "new format", which included getting rid of the 'Characteristics' subheading and moving the glut of that info to the 'Trivia' section. I could not find any particular announcement or discussion on-site about this change, and was curious about when this change was decided on and what the particular reason was. --MintBlancmanche (talk) 14:19, 9 December 2023 (UTC)(talk)

This was an internal decision made in September, as the content consisted of strategy tips and synthesis uncharacteristic of Bulbapedia, and trivial matters were moved to trivia. Any functional content was moved to Additional effects in the Battle properties section. Landfish7 17:02, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
I see, that all makes sense. Thank you for the answer! - unsigned comment from MintBlancmanche (talkcontribs)
Happy I could help. By the way, while I've you got you here, always remember to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~) or by pressing the signature button (Signature button.png) in the toolbar at the top of the edit window, rather than adding your signature manually or by copying from a previous comment. This is the easiest way to sign, and ensures that the signature and correct timestamp are properly displayed. Thank you. Landfish7 02:48, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

Iono page

One of Lewtwo's bad edits had removed several sections from the Iono page. Could you help me fix it as your edit messed up my fixing it and I do not want to waste time starting over for now. -Tyler53841 (talk) 22:07, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

I actually just noticed the same edit and have passed it along to the other staff. Thanks for reaching out! Landfish7 22:10, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
Oh btw, please assume good faith and not refer to other user's edits as "bad". Thank you. Landfish7 22:19, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
Sorry, but anyway at least I figured out to modify the edit history abit to fix the issue. -Tyler53841 (talk) 22:21, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
In the future, if you're making such a fix, I'd try to do so in a way that doesn't remove info that has been added since the older revision. I know that can be more complicated, but we don't want to remove a significant amount of info without explanation. Landfish7 22:25, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

Poképhilia

I disagree. I think it deserves to be focused on.

Possible spambot

Hi Landfish, I am little concerned about this user being a spambot judging by their talk page --Thespeon196 (talk) 13:02, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Dealt with. Thanks! Landfish7 13:04, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Visual Editor issues

I've noticed when using the Visual Editor, it really does not like to submit edits on particularly long pages. Is this a known issue? --CuteShaymin (talk) 04:54, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

I've not heard this. I'll pass it along. Thanks for letting us know! Landfish7 08:45, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Edit war on Sensational Sisters

Weedle McHairybug has reverted me twice on this page regarding the status on Misty's current status regarding the Cerulean Gym.

This is not the first time that they've been involved in an edit war with me regarding a Misty-related edit, and their most recent edit summary is basically speculating that Misty "quit" being a Gym Leader (even though there's no indication that this is true in Japanese or English, despite their claims). RE: list of GO fusions on general fusion article

I feel that the table listing out the Fusions available in GO should only be on the Fusion (GO) article rather than duplicated to the Pokémon fusion article. The Mega Evolution article doesn't list out the Mega Evolutions in GO; they're only listed on Mega Evolution (GO). GO is a spin-off game, after all, and getting into the details about its mechanics on the general articles doesn't seem to be consistent. SlyCooperFan1 (talk) 08:27, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

I'd be interested to hear what others think. I do agree the full list would probably be a bit much for the Mega Evolution article tho. Landfish7 16:17, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

Congratulations!

User:user/sandbox pages

I can’t tell whether or not I’m just not seeing it or it isn’t there but how do I create a sandbox connected to my userpage? I’ve found how it works (Parent page and Child page and the like) but I’m not sure how to create one connected to my page. I would like to create a sandbox draft for Biscuit, mostly due to the fact I don’t play Pokémon Sleep and me recently creating pages that are basically just headers & a base for it (the unite pages for Armarouge, Darkrai, and Psyduck.) I believe there’s enough info on it for me to create an article on it, so I’m wondering how I can create a sandbox draft for it? Handium (talk) 14:44, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

You would create it at a title like User:Handium/DraftTitle and then add {{mainspace}} at the top to indicate that it is content intended for the maisnpace. However, there are already a couple existing drafts, so it would be better to help expand those instead. The most developed one so far is User:Anzasquiddles/Biscuit. Colress (Adventures)

Do you think my article is more than enough to be mainspaced to official article? --Modikisha (talk) 15:54, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

Your article looks nice and is well-formed. However, I think our main question right now is whether or not it benefits Colress's coverage for this info to be split off on to another page? Could this info live happily on the main page? And if it's split, how do we make sure the main page still adequately covers his role in the manga? Additionally, what makes this version of the character differ so much that would justify treating him as a unique incarnation of the character, rather than an adaptation of the same role he's served in the games and other media? You don't have to answer these questions, but I do think they are important points of consideration before splitting. Landfish7 12:56, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Time

Hi! You recently made an edit to the time page, saying in your description that something [was] seriously wrong with the code on [the] page. I was the one who made the most recent major edits to the page’s code. You made another edit to the page a bit later, fixing a major issue in the page’s code. I’m just wondering if there was any more to that initial edit description regarding the code being wrong, besides what you corrected. (Please don’t take this the wrong way; I’m mostly just being extremely paranoid about my own big edits here having unforeseen consequences than I am being critical of anyone else’s edits. If something got screwed up, please let me know.) — ⚫︎ Pale Prism ⬟ [ TalkContribs ] 01:21, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Admittedly I was being hyperbolic. My second edit was only a partial fix, as whatever is wrong with the code still shows up in the syntax highlighting. It occurs to me now though that it could just be an imperfection with the syntax highlighting and not a problem with the code itself, but I don't know for sure. Landfish7 09:09, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

EP250 question you removed

If we could note why didn't they just recolor Jynx into purple, why would this be off topic when it could be noted in the article? Pikmin 3 Wii U 23:48, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

If there's an official reason why they didn't recolor Jynx, sure. Otherwise, the wiki is not the place to speculate on that. Landfish7 23:59, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

Question about DoubleProjectTag template

Hiya, I wonder if you could maybe help with something? I made a change to Template:DoubleProjectTag, which I noted you'd reverted, so I just wanted to explain why I'd made the edit as you might know a better way of sorting it. (For context here, my screen resolution's 1920x1080 with regular/no zoom.) Essentially, if you look at a page like X Speed (Promo-A 2), because the infobox is taller than the rest of the page's contents, it touches the project bar at the bottom, and there's no gap, which looks a bit unsightly. I'd added {{-}} as it was the only way I knew of creating a gap. Whether there's a better way to achieve this, or if "no gap" is the preferred way to go, I'm happy to seek guidance. Cipher (talk) 19:06, 20 October 2024 (UTC)

I've noticed infoboxes can be weird like that. Would we be okay with having the clear on the page itself instead of in the template? Landfish7 22:29, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
Wouldn't having it on the template take care of all pages with the problem instead of having to search for them all? MaverickNate 06:16, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
We have a margin-top CSS in the project tag to add space above it, as the {{-}} adds way more space than needed. For some reason, the margin-top does not work correctly with the new <div> infoboxes, so I believe adding a margin-bottom could also solve the issue. → SuperPikaPool13 09:22, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
Yeah creating a huge gap on all pages with the template just to fix a problem for a few does not sound ideal. Landfish7 10:11, 21 October 2024 (UTC)

Account Log In Issues

Hi Landfish. For the past week or so, ever since the recent site maintenance period, I have been unable to log into my normal Bulbapedia account "HeroponSuperT". Whenever I try to log into it, it will say that the info I've entered is invalid, even though what I entered is 100% correct. Additionally, I've tried to request Password resets to see if that fixes things, but no matter how many times I request one, I never get an email to reset my Password. Because of that, I felt that I had to resort to using an alternate account for the time being until I figure out how to get my main account working again. Is there anything you could do to possibly help me log back into my normal account? HeroponSuperT2 (talk) 16:39, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

We've shared the details of this with tech. We'll let you know what we learn once it's been looked into. Thanks for bringing this to our attention! Landfish7 16:44, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
No problem! And thank you very much for helping me with this problem. I really appreciate it! HeroponSuperT2 (talk) 16:46, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

Contributing to the ROM hacks page

Hi! I've gone through the history in the ROM hack page and noticed you were one of it's biggest contributors. I wanted to ask how I could possibly help since the page is protected; I wanted to contribute to the Unbound section and expand the article stub. RubyRaven (talk) 16:55, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

I'll look into if the protection status should be updated. In the meantime, your account should be old enough, so once you've made a few more productive edits to mainspace pages, you should be autoconfirmed, allowing you to edit semi-protected pages such as that one. Landfish7 16:59, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
I see! Thanks for the swift reply. I also noticed that I had left two entries on the talk page on accident; my bad. I had made this one and saved it but got a gateway error and thought it didn't post. RubyRaven (talk) 17:19, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
No worries! Thanks for reaching out :) Landfish7 17:21, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

ROM Hack article, Unbound section

Hi! I was going through the ROM hack article and saw the Unbound section was a stub. I wanted to ask how I could help contribute to it, since it looks like its a protected page. RubyRaven (talk) 16:56, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

See above. Landfish7 16:59, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
