Flame Burst (Japanese: はじけるほのお Flame Burst) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation V.

Effect

All Pokémon on the same side as and adjacent to the target of Flame Burst in Double and Triple Battles will lose 1/16 of their maximum HP in typeless effect damage. This only occurs if the attack actually hits its target. Flash Fire absorption does not count as a hit.

Due to the extra damage hitting all Pokémon adjacent to the target, if it is used on an adjacent ally the extra damage will hit the user, as well as the other ally in a triple battle if it is adjacent to the target.

Since the secondary damage is typeless, it will not trigger Abilities like Flash Fire or Color Change. Furthermore, being effect damage, it bypasses things like Protect, Wide Guard, Endure, Wonder Guard, Substitute, Destiny Bond, Telepathy, Mold Breaker, Accuracy and Evasion, but is prevented by Magic Guard.

Description

Games Description
BW The user attacks the target with a bursting flame. The bursting flame damages Pokémon next to the target as well.
