Community Day
Pokémon GO Community Day (Japanese: コミュニティ・デイ Community Day) is a monthly in-game event in Pokémon GO that features specific Pokémon through limited-time increased spawn rates and obtainable exclusive moves for three hours.
During these events, different resource bonuses occur, such as increased XP gain or decreased Egg distances. Field Research tasks specific to the Community Day event are also available during the three hour period.
During the Community Day event, the featured Pokémon is much more likely to be Shiny than usual (at about a 1/25 chance[1]); additionally, the Community Day event is usually the first time the Pokémon's Shiny coloration is available.
Event time
The event used to run at one of three GMT times, depending on the player's location. The three different regions were as follows.
- Asia-Pacific
- Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India
- The Americas and Greenland
Since the March 2019 Community Day, the hours have been changed to start at 3 p.m. in each time zone and last until 6 p.m. Starting with the July 2019 Community Day, Community Days times were changed to 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. due to Northern Hemisphere summer. Community Days times changed to 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for the September 2019 Community Day. Since the October 2018 Community Day, exclusive moves learned by an evolution of a featured Pokémon are obtainable up to one hour after the end of the event; and on the September 2019 Community Day, this time window was increased to two hours.

For the February 2020 Community Day, players were given the option to vote between four different possible Pokémon. On February 1, 2020, from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. (local time), players voted for their choice by completing four different research tasks (one for each candidate); other than their name and voting mechanic, the tasks were otherwise identical, requiring the player to catch 20 Pokémon and rewarding them 200 Stardust upon completion. The winner was announced as Rhyhorn on February 3, 2020. The candidate Pokémon and their corresponding exclusive moves for their fully-evolved forms are:
- Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix with the exclusive move Weather Ball
- Machop with the exclusive move Payback
- Rhyhorn with the exclusive move Rock Wrecker
- Dratini with the exclusive move Superpower
