Images on Pokémon pages
Is a battle screenshot preferable to no image at all when official Ken Sugimori art is not yet available for a new Pokémon? Or can I just leave the image blank for the time being since it's in the userspace? The Poké in question is Mamanbou. Thanks!--PhantomJunkie 00:45, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- As far as I'm concerned, you can do whatever the hell you wish as long as it's in the userspace. Hell, you could even use an image of an actual ocean sunfish, and I'm sure no one would care beyond being moderately repulsed by its ugliness. :P 梅子❀✿ 00:51, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Are abilities?
Are abilities part of Project Games? If they are, is there a template like this for the abilities shown in the anime? Abcboy 14:45, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- I do believe abilities would fall under Project Games. However, such a template would fall under Project Anime, so I think you should talk to Kenji-girl about this instead. :D (For what it's worth, though, I think it's a decent idea.) 梅子❀✿ 21:50, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Romanization
I'm trying to romanize the Japanese name of Pretty Petal Flower Shop. The kana is フラワーショップ サン・トウカ, with a direct (and translated) romanization being "Flower Shop San Touka". I've found that certain locations, like San Marino or San Francisco, are translated and spelled in kana like San Touka here. However, san can also mean "Sun" and touka "lamplight" or "transmission". Thus, I was wondering what would be the most fitting interpretation, in order to use a correct romanization, and would like to ask for your assistance.
- To me it reads like "san" is supposed to be "saint," so the romanization that I personally would go with would be "St. Touka." I'm not so sure, though; we could probably do with more insight. 梅子❀✿ 19:34, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it makes sense, as Touka seems to be a given name of someone or something. I wasn't aware that "saint" was also a meaning for san, though. Mind if I add the romanization you suggested? We can always change it later if greater insight proves it necessary but "St. Touka" seems reasonable to me.
- Yeah, "san" is a loanword from Spanish (I believe; either that or Italian, probably), so while we could just go with "San" a la San Marino and San Fransisco, I think it's clearer if we go the extra mile and make it "saint." :V I am definitely open to other opinions though, if anyone is watching this discussion. 梅子❀✿ 20:39, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- The translation into Saint is possible. The flower shop in Japan that writes as Saint exists though it is pronounced San. http://www.saintjordiflowers.com/. Sawamular101 20:54, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- I wish I knew Touka was the Japanese name of Petalburg earlier... ;-; After I added the rōmaji, I went to check the history and Tina said she left it blank because she wasn't sure of the meaning of the Japanese name but that Touka was Petalburg's name in Japanese (and I rechecked it too).
- Thanks for the information, Sawamular. 20:56, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Transliteration/Romanisation
Hello, Umeko.
Is it possible to have translations and transliterations on pages, rather than one or the other?
Recently, I attempted to add some transliterations to a few pages (i.e. Protect), which were removed, even though I did not delete the original translation, but instead added the transliteration too (in this case mamoru, in italics next to the Japanese equivalent "まもる".)
I thought that this would be perhaps helpful and perhaps a little more interesting for those Pokémon fans who wish to learn the Japanese names for Pokémon, places, characters, etc.
I would be more than happy to help in any way possible,
samscarb
- Considering they're in katakana or hiragana already, the stuff should be simple to read if you know that. Kanji should of course have a furigana
{{tt}} 'd over it, like ポケットモンスターSPECIAL金・銀 with "きん" and "ぎん" on the kanji for Gold and Silver. TTEchidna 03:24, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/User_talk:CherryParanoia
Sawamular101 13:16, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
Sawamular101 13:53, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

- Sawamular-san, please forgive me for responding in English this time. I'm using a school computer which doesn't have the Japanese IME, so it's very difficult to type in Japanese. I hope this will translate properly if you put it through a machine translation, but if doesn't, I can explain again in Japanese in a few hours.
- CherryParanoia actually hasn't contributed to Bulbapedia in several months, so there isn't any need to keep an eye on her in the moment. However, if she comes back and does use "Jap" again, I will be sure to speak to her about it. I will do the same for any other users that I see using that word.
- As for the BW001 page, I'm sorry that had to happen to you. TTEchidna, our Editor-in-Chief, is very much an idiot, and he made that page as a joke. I'll be sure to scold him for it.

Sawamular101 08:03, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
09:00, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Sawamular101 09:46, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

In the Gym Leader page, why is it necessary to have Aloe's row duplicated? Or the 3rd leader's sprite using Aloe's name temporarily, for the matter? --Kaoz 19:42, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- The third Gym Leader sprite is using Aloe's name temporarily because we don't know his/her name, so there's nothing to replace it with. Aloe's row is "duplicated" because the first one, which is visible now, has the bottom roundied, since it is currently the last one in the table. It will not be the last in the table once the others are made viewable, however, and when that happens it will have square corners on the bottom - which is that the "duplicate" is coded to do. So once the time comes to make all the leaders viewable, the first "duplicate" will simply be deleted. 梅子❀✿ 19:57, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, all clear now. Did I, by any chance, use a false cognate? I'd have sworn dupicate was a legit verb.--Kaoz 21:02, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- It is a legit verb, my apologies for the confusion. I used quotes because they both use different, but very similar templates - so they aren't exact duplicates. XD; 梅子❀✿ 21:58, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

You really seem to know all the olgliarchs in Bulbapedia...TheRevived 04:16, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- Basically, Bulbapedia talkpages, even user talkpages, aren't for irrelevant chatting such as that. Such discussions can be brought to the forums or email. And even if such discussion were allowed on talkpages, speculating about old trolls revolting on us really isn't productive.
- Honestly, you shouldn't have kept reverting us when we removed your message to TTE. Just because you really want something doesn't mean it's going to happen. Think about it, pretty much the entire fanbase wanted Dawn's Piplup to evolve, but did it ever happen? No! Over all 191 episodes, Piplup never evolved, not even to Prinplup, even though it should have long been an Empoleon by the end of DP! And not only did it never evolve, but the animators completely alienated the fanbase by giving Piplup that Everstone. They did this even though every single fan, without exception, wanted Piplup to evolve. They just don't care about the fans at all.
- So you shouldn't expect to get your way all the time. 梅子❀✿ 04:28, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Like I said
The wording I revised, and there wasn't much if anything, was the things that, if you notice, give the reader the feeling that Isshu is New York. This, however, is not confirmed by anyone that actually have the authority to confirm it. The interview on Nintendo.co.jp and blog 177 on Game Freak's blog directly say : "New York is Isshu's motif". If you'll notice how many times I've pointed out that Motif does not mean Basis/Model/Stage, you would also notice how neutral I made the text while maintaining the statement "Isshu uses New York as it's motif". Please understand that I'm not saying it is not possible for Game Freak to come out later and outright say "New York is Isshu". I'm just saying it hasn't been said yet. And frankly, I want Bulbapedia to be as accurate as possible. --Mackinz of SoulSilver 02:40, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- The wording that was there seemed pretty nuetral to me. Just leave it alone Mackinz.--Pokélova! 02:42, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- Keep your bullshit off my talkpage. You're pushing the English nuances of the word "motif" when the meaning of the Japanese loanword isn't necessarily the same. Furthermore, you aren't doing this out of respect for Bulbapedia's accuracy, but for your own personal grudge. Now drop it and kindly get your head out of your ass. 梅子❀✿ 02:45, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- First of all, to PokeLova: ::The Isshu region (Japanese: イッシュ地方 Isshu-chihō) is a large area of the Pokémon world and the setting of the fifth generation Pokémon games Pokémon Black and White. It is far away from the four other large regions, and the Pokémon which inhabit Isshu are diverse and different from those of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. In his director's column, Junichi Masuda suggested that the geographical and social background for Isshu draws inspiration from New York City, although the region features rural locations as well as industrial.
- In this case, the bolded is something I checked up on. I did not see the things that were stated in this paragraph. Although, my Japanese is not perfect so maybe I did miss it.
- Although some of Isshu is geographically based on New York, the creators of the region took some liberties in regards to the surrounding areas. Clearly, the largest city in Isshu, Hiun City, is based on Lower Manhattan, but to the immediate north of Hiun is (as opposed to a continuing metropolis as in real life) a vast desert. To the east and west of the region are large mountains. Isshu also contains many rural settlements.
- In this case, however, the bolded shows exactly the parts that aren't neutral and that I changed to neutral.
- Compare:
- Although Isshu's basis is not truly known, the creators of the region ensured us varying terrain. Clearly, the largest city in Isshu, Hiun City, draws inspiration from Lower Manhattan, but to the immediate north of Hiun is a vast desert. To the east and west of the region are large mountains. Isshu also contains many rural settlements.
- Now to Umeko:
- Keep your bullshit off my talkpage. You're pushing the English nuances of the word "motif" when the meaning of the Japanese loanword isn't necessarily the same. Furthermore, you aren't doing this out of respect for Bulbapedia's accuracy, but for your own personal grudge. Now drop it and kindly get your head out of your ass. 梅子❀✿ 02:45, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- Please note, I'm not trying to start an argument with you here. You are unnecessarily angry with me. However, you are wrong. The nuances of the word motif come with the word no matter the context. The fact that motif was used proves it was meant to be used in the way it is defined. If it wasn't meant to be used the way it is defined, why would he even bother using it? Would a native Japanese speaker feel inclined to use a loanword if there's a native Japanese word that essentially means the same in his eyes? No, he would not. Junichi Masuda did not use the Japanese word "stage" like he did for Hoenn when he made the statement on the interview. He used the English loanword Motif.
- Now, my own personal grudge? Frankly, I'm keeping all of my personal beliefs about Isshu out of this discussion. There was that one time where someone asked me where I think Isshu is based off and I said it then, but I did not mention it before that or after that question ever again.
- Now please, if there are any official sources that have confirmed something beyond the level of "motif" for Isshu, post them, let me read them, and I will stop my crusade. If not, the neutral version is the one that should be used as it is more accurate to my knowledge.

Hello there, Just recently discovered the anything goes Pokedex and it just has some hilarious results. For some reason I can't seem to follow you on Twitter as my account has been blocked (twitter.com/JEFFBM). Please tell me why i was blocked because i enjoyed reading your tweets especially since I'm trying to learn Japanese so I'm trying to read the tweets you post in Nihongo. Thanks in advance and keep on keeping on. JEFF 17:33, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Whoops, I'm sorry about that! I often go through my followers list and block accounts that look like they're either bots or people who randomly added me just for plumping up their following list. I try not to block people who might legitimately be interested in what I say, but it seems that you might have gotten caught in the crossfire by accident, and for that I apologize. XD I'll unblock you now~ 梅子❀✿ 17:41, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey Ume, I think you might wanna look at this conversion. As you can speak Japanese fluently, so I think you can make a better decision otherwise it's just turning into a useless/forumiSH/flame war and I really don't like this drama type conversations. When you get time then please check it out, thanks. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 05:59, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- Me being fluent in Japanese or not really has no relevance here, but if you really want my opinion, I think we should just keep it where it is for the time being. He'll be renamed when the dub comes around, and there's really no reason that "Shooty" is any more of a viable romanization than "Shooti." Keep it where it is, make a few redirects maybe, dust off your hands, wait for the dub, and then be done with it. The end. 梅子❀✿ 06:05, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll go and announce it on that dramatic talk page. Thanks for the suggestion. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 06:11, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yup. If, on the off chance, TPCi decides to keep his name, and spells it "Shooty"... then I think we can consider spelling his Japanese name with a Y. But as it stands, neither is really more or less "correct" than the other. 梅子❀✿ 06:13, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

"Honor" Shrine
HoennMaster suggested that I confer with you about the mistranslation on the Fertility Shrine page since you are apparently knowledgeable about Japanese as well. As you presumably know, ほうじょう is clearly "fertility," and yet someone has arbitrarily changed the name of the page to "Honor Shrine." Do you know of the reasoning behind this? Kamen no Otoko 06:31, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- We're working on it. I don't actually agree with the translation "fertility," but it doesn't belong at "Honor Shrine." 梅子❀✿ 07:10, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- Wait, I'm confused: I know that the game doesn't use kanji for the name, and there may technically be other homonymous compounds (albeit highly uncommon or strictly literary in nature). But--given Landlos' classification and Pokédex entries--isn't "fertility" the only logical translation? Moreover, these games are essentially aimed at kids. I've seen what 10-year-olds learn, and I can just about guarantee that no 10-year-old is going to be able to read 豊穣 unless written with furigana or simply sans kanji altogether. I'm likewise doubtful that many kids will recognize the word ほうじょう at that age; so when a kid asks his or her parent「ほうじょうって何?」do you really think that the first thing that comes to the adult's mind will be something like 芳情? I guess I'm just curious as to what makes you disagree with the translation. Kamen no Otoko 12:26, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- I only said that I disagree with "fertility." I specifically said that I also disagree with "honor," so please don't be putting words in my mouth. 豊穣 refers more to the abundance of resulting crops, not to the state of the land/soil which the crops have been harvested on, so I don't feel that "fertility" is the appropriate translation here. (Also, at times like these I tend to ask myself "what would NoA do?" when considering translations - please don't lash out at me for this anyone, I do believe my reasoning for doing so is sound - and I highly, highly doubt that they'd go for "fertility.") Like I said, we are working on deciding on the best option, just give us time to consider the options and come to an agreement. 梅子❀✿ 18:38, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- Perhaps I misunderstood what you meant by "it doesn't belong at 'Honor Shrine.'" To be fair, the homonymous 豊饒 (not the difference in the second kanji) has precisely the nuance for which you seem to be looking. And I'm not "lashing out": I acknowledge your thought process behind "translations," but doesn't that bleed more into the realm of localization? In that sense, wouldn't it be more appropriate to render the Japanese faithfully and leave the "official" localization to NoA, seeing as it will be changed once the English games are released, anyhow? Personally, I don't see an issue with the use of the word "fertility" as it is the most accurate, linguistically speaking.
- Also, who, precisely, is in charge of making these sorts of decisions? I'm just curious as to what kind of discourse occurs regarding issues of translation and the like. Kamen no Otoko 18:51, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- I wasn't saying that you would lash out at me, I simply placed that there for anyone else who might read this and think that it's absolutely horrendous that I do such a thing. (These people do exist.)
- I realize that that homophonous term does exist; however, it is indeed 豊穣 that Japanese fans have been using, and I have not once seen them use 豊饒, thus why I still disagree with "fertility."
- These decisions are discussed by the rest of the staff and editorial board. 梅子❀✿ 19:01, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- I had not realized that people could get so vehement over such matters. Technically speaking, 豊饒 and 豊穣 can both be translated as "fertility," although the nuance changes between the two.
- In that case, I eagerly await the final outcome. Kamen no Otoko 19:19, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
- The Wikipedia of Japan uses "豊饒". [1]The Japanese seems to be confused. Sawamular101 21:13, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Project Battrio
Hi Umeko. Just to let you know, as I am sure you are aware from conversations with Nate, that I am planning to join in with Project Battrio. My contributions with regards to individual pucks will be limited to the info actually on the puck, as I don't have any of the perfect guides, save for a few scans. If you want to advise where the best place to start would be, as I don't want to step on anyone's toes.
I also had a thought with regards to the latest expansion - not sure how you might approach it. To save adding more parameters to the BattrioInfobox for pucks with two movesets, just keeping the types relevant to the types on the art would be simpler, as I believe the Def type for all dual pucks is the same for both options. So for example, Mewtwo would have Psychic Def and Fighting Atk, but would have separate attack and puck data boxes for each option. Sound decent? ~~nuva-kal 14:07, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

The section, Gives to new Trainers, talks about Pokémon that she gives to any trainer at the start of their journey*. The other section mainly talked about Ash and Shooti. There was possibly a misunderstanding going on between the two sections which led to the edit being undone. PattyMan 03:10, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey Umeko —
Do we have some kind of Battrio navigation template like {{PokémonPrevNextHead}} or any of the templates in here? If not, I would be happy to make one and run it by you. chiefboz • talk 22:43, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- What would such templates be used for? We don't have them, but I'm not understanding why we would need them. XD 梅子❄❅ 23:24, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- Navigation between pucks, similar to how we do it on the Pokémon pages. chiefboz • talk 23:32, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- Elaborating on that: In the Pokémon navbars you click left and right to go backwards and forwards through the National Pokédex. In these it would be similar, going backwards and forwards through the Battrio series. (so if you're on Dialga (01-001), you can click the right arrow to go to Palkia (01-002) and the left arrow brings you to the end of the set, Pichu (01-036).) Again, mostly for navigation between adjacent pucks for viewers to browse through a set, and for editors to quickly jump between without having to reload five pages. chiefboz • talk 23:39, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm, I dunno. There's no equivalent for card pages, so I don't see why pucks should be treated any differently. I'll think about it; for now you can make the template in your userspace. We'll see where it goes from there. 梅子❀✿ 00:21, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- If you saw my contribs or RC, you'd see it's in. I want to move it to the non-typo version title... but that'll have to wait until tomorrow. It's at /BattrioNavigatior, and I have no idea why there's an extra i in there. chiefboz • talk 00:31, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- I think it is a bad idea. Just weighing in. It was always unnecessary in my opinion. You could go to the set page for navigation, or the category. Plus with reprint sets, the top would get very annoying, like the chronicle episodes are. I would also prefer if the userspace navigation was deleted so that I am not obligated to add it to my mainspacable userspace template. MaverickNate 04:15, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Personal Project
Not exactly sure where to put this or whom to ask, but I've gone on a personal project to confirm the ideological backgrounds of every Pokemon through comparing their appearance and Pokedex info to data on real creatures and only considering it a whole "confirm" when I have enough data to have some real proof. I have confirms on 80+ evolution chains, at least in my own mind and have started doing write-ups on them. Given how interesting some of the direct parallels were I tried to get cracked to run the idea and publish a grouping of about 10 of the confirmed ones; I was rejected and really don't want the work to just go to waste. Apologies if this isn't your department, but yea; I'ven't edited on here before at all. Here's a link to two write-ups; used a defunct site as a holding place from them; they're in forum code right now.

List of censored words in Pokémon Black and White Versions
Hello! I'm no GTS User (or whatever the new name is, since I'm not - yet? - a BW player), so I can't really help you to find missing censored words. I will ask to other people on Poképédia, but I don't really have high hopes. But what I can and will do is helping to translate French words to English. GreyDragon 19:55, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hi again. I did a few ones, but some of them would need more explanation than just one or two words. Some words can be used for particular circumstances, or have a primary meaning and a secundary one. Is there a way to manage this? Because I guess you don't want to have a slang words dictionnary... Evo-Template tryout
Well, considering SnorlaxMonster is currently off on leave, i've come to you because of your status as head of Project Games. I was working on a 4-stage evolution template in my sandbox for glitch Pokémon. How can I test it out?--×Rsrdaman× 08:19, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- Create a talk page for the prototype template and put the template on it as if it were on one of the relevant pages. It's generally good to do it a few times, especially if there are a few different situations that the template can cover. For example, I have done that here. Note that there are many different ones so that any switches in the template are used with all their outcomes - so any problems in them can be spotted. Werdnae (talk) 10:00, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, that would make sense, thanks --×Rsrdaman× 07:19, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
- BOOYAH!
- Well, now that this works, can you replace the old one? (heres the proof)--×Rsrdaman× 08:11, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
- You need to test multiple different parameter setups. So that you know it's going to work on every page, not just the one that is set as the default. Even small typos can completely break the template just when it's different from default. Werdnae (talk) 10:37, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
Ok, I tested it, it works fine. Here it is. Replace it now please, Thanks --×Rsrdaman× 02:26, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
Names of types in other languages
Hi Umeko,
I am a user form the german PokéWiki where I recently asked the others where the tables containing the names of types in other languages come from. As no one was able to answer me I guessed that they are probably taken over from bulbapedia which is why I want to ask you now (since you're project leader of the game project and since I don't know who to turn to ;)): Are the stated names the official names of the localization in the respecitve countries? Do localizations in the listed countries even exist? What confuses me is that for some languages there is more than one translation given whic makes the table look like a collection of words from google translator rather than an official names list.
I hope you can help me to sort this out; if not it would be helpful if you could provide me with a username or a talk page where I can state my business. Thank you very much --Wenlok Holmes 16:02, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- The tables are supposed to contain only official localisations. Unfortunately, it's rather tricky for us to check when a user adds them, unless we have another user who speaks that language. I wouldn't be especially surprised if some of those weren't official. If there are any we find out aren't official, they'll get removed. For the ones with multiple names, it's usually a case of the localisation teams for separate media not speaking to each other very much - It's usually one name for the games and one name for the anime or something similar (occasionally, multiple names are used in the anime as well).
- I hope that helps. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. Werdnae (talk) 03:50, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Question
I asked this question on the project talk page back in December, but since no one answered I'm asking you. What is the definition of a Music Stub? I've seen many music articles that look complete that still have a stub tag on them. Like The Power of One (song). Since this is not my area of knowledge I wanted to know if anything was missing before I removed stub notices from them. Thanks! - unsigned comment from Pokemaster97 (talk • contribs)
- Maybe you didn't notice before since forgot to sign, but this is an unadressed question... so answer when you can! Thanks. --Pokemaster97 00:07, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
- Whoops, sorry about that! I think in cases such as the one you linked, it's just a matter of someone forgetting to remove the stub tag (or perhaps someone taking a cursory look at the page, instantly going "RAWR NEEDS PICTURES," and slapping a stub tag onto it?). I indeed can't see much more that could be added to such a page.
- To answer the all-encompassing question of "what makes a music article complete," I'd say that (for songs) it can be considered complete when it has 1) accurate lyrics in full, 2) which episodes/movies/commercials(?) the song was played in, and 3) the album/single/other manner of distribution the track was available on, if applicable. Of course, any other notable information should be included as well, but in order for an article to not be considered a stub, I think it will need those three things. 梅子❀✿ 00:20, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
- Okay I understand. Thank you. --Pokemaster97 00:23, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
Translation request
I need your help in translating this. First line reads "This is a map of the Kantō region!" But what about the second line? I can't seem to make sense out of it. Here's the text to make things easier: 「・・・・・・ もらえたら うれしい?」 SatoMew 16:19, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, what a straightforward yet incredibly difficult-to-translate line!
- Well, not difficult to translate, exactly, but... Literally, the line means, "I would be glad if I could receive this?" The best wording I can think of would be "I hope she gives it to me?" And the question mark may not be necessary, it's more indicating hopefulness than a question. 梅子❀✿ 18:50, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- When I attempted to translate it, I got similar results to what you posted but found them "awkward". :P I want to put the translation as the description for that picture on the article for Kanto and thus needed a proper translation to add. Given that the question mark is not exactly making it a question but more an emphasis of hopefulness, would it be accurate to say "A map of the Kantō region! I hope she gives it to me..."? SatoMew 19:01, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- Looks good to me! 梅子❀✿ 19:05, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- OK then, I shall add it now to the article. Thank you for your help. :3 SatoMew 19:10, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Another request
What does 「まえに かかれた レポートが きえて しまいますが うえたら かいても いいですか?」 translate into? This is the message that appears the first time a save is attempted in Red and Green. And dang, my Japanese knowledge sure is limited. xD SatoMew 19:03, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
- A direct translation may not make sense, so I'll go with a NoA-esque adaptation. "The previous save data will be deleted. Is it okay to overwrite?" Err, something like that. (Direct translation, just for kicks: "The report written previously will disappear, but is it all right to write over it [anyway]?")
- By the way, I didn't mention this before but you need to change your signature to reflect your username ("Pokemon lover," not "SatoMew"). Refer to our Signature policy for more in-depth guidelines. :) 梅子❀✿ 00:22, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you. This was just to confirm what the message was all about. And it's weird that the game asks to overwrite the previous save data when there is none to begin with, especially when it only asks the player on the first time he/she attempts to save. Fortunately, they fixed it in Blue.
- I'm aware of that violation of the signatures policy. I'd rather change my username to SatoMew because that's what I want to use. I remember requesting a change back when the Bulbawiki accounts weren't still connected to each other (and back when I just used it only for Bulbapedia) but it must've got lost in the process. I'll request it again then. Whom should I request the username change to, by the way? SatoMew 12:13, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- If you haven't yet tracked down someone for a name change yet, I think your best bet is to leave a message on MAGNEDETH's talk page - Deth himself is busy and probably will not be able to tend to your request himself, but more likely than not someone else who can do it will see it there. I'm not 100% sure who the other people with renaming capabilities are, probably Kogoro and trom at least, but I'm not sure. (Just fyi, I've been pretty much MIA here for quite a while and only very recently returned, so I'm still getting readjusted to how everything works - heck, I'm pretty sure that when I went on hiatus, the renaming feature was broken and name changes were temporarily unavailable. I'd hope that the proper answer to give you now is different from "renaming is broken, suck it up.")
- In the meantime, if you want to change your signature to something like "SatoMew the Pokemon lover" or something (though I concede that it doesn't look as nice and concise as just "SatoMew" XD), that should probably be fine. Or, y'know, feel free to get a second opinion from another staffer. XD 梅子❀✿ 23:05, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- According to this, seems like you can do it yourself. ;o If so, would you mind changing my username, if that's not asking much, of course? :3 SatoMew 16:31, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- Umm, never done this before, but... *pokes around on google* Okay, I think I figured out how to do this. Just to confirm: you want your name to be "SatoMew," that exact capitalization and everything? 梅子❀✿ 17:21, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- Bureaucrats do have the ability to rename accounts locally. However, since accounts on Bulbapedia have a global connection to Bulbanews and the Bulbagarden Archives, renames require specific processes only capable by a select number of Editorial Board and Technical Staff members. If you're certain about the rename you desire, just drop a message on my talk page and I'll be able to give you that rename. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 21:52, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- Aha, so I haven't been saddled with that responsibility yet!
That's kind of a relief, honestly. Thanks for clearing that up, Kogs. 梅子❀✿ 00:31, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
Hello
I'm Jäzzi from The Pokémon Wiki, but you can call me Jazzi, as many people do. I'm one of the administrators there, and I made an account here so I could tweak The Pokémon Wiki page a bit. While I won't stop by much, and hopefully won't have to stop by for copyright issues, I figured I'd stop by on occasion to form a friendly bridge between the two wikis. --Jazzi 21:56, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- Welcome to Bulbapedia. Please do correct any errors you see on the wikia-related pages (or indeed, any page). Better to make friends than enemies, right? Werdnae (talk) 00:07, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
It wasn't so much correcting errors as updating. Hstar hasn't been active in a while and Charitwo is no longer a Wikia editor. While I personally feel the mention of Charitwo being a previous volunteer spam task force member is mention worthy, Hstar should not be listed as an administrator when she is not active. --Jazzi 01:32, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Please ignore my mistake up there. I read the message as "please do not correct any errors" until a friend pointed out it said "do correct". Many apologies. --Jazzi 01:36, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- We all make mistakes. I should have worded it better too. Werdnae (talk) 01:52, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Rest assured, your wording was fine. Also, are there any major things that I should know on interacting with the community, because with my intent to form a friendly bridge I don't want to interact with the community in a way that could come across as negative or harsh. I'm brushing up on the policies, and I'll be re-reading them when it's daytime. Also, over on Zeldapedia, we have a "From ZeldaWiki" template for images, I plan on making one for Pokémon Wiki, what should I know about the licensing here before making the template? --Jazzi 02:10, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Our content is licensed with the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license, meaning that any original contributions to Bulbagarden can be copied only if it's licensed with the same license. Archaic knows the most about this stuff of our staff. He tells me that would mean images which were originally created for Bulbagarden (Compilation works and similar) can't be copied onto wikia due to licensing issues. Images which are not originally created for Bulbagarden may be different as we aren't the original source, fair use etc. I'm not entirely sure on that I'm afraid. Werdnae (talk) 03:24, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Guys, Umeko doesn't need this on her talk page. I would suggest taking the discussion elsewhere, like to one of your own talk pages.. -- MAGNEDETH 03:27, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- So this is what happens when I forget to check my email... 梅子❀✿ 17:08, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Credits on game pages
I find it odd how the only way one can view the staff credits for all the games is by directly searching for them. I think we should implement a way to link to them on the game pages themselves-- but I don't know whether we should edit the Infobox game template, or add a section that just contains a link to the credits like Super Mario Wiki.
