The '''Leadership Board''', formerly the '''Editorial Board''', is Bulbapedia's committee of experienced, high-level staff that drive the encyclopedia's progress. Members of the Leadership Board embody Bulbagarden's overall site values, and are capable of representing Bulbapedia within Bulbagarden and the wider Pokémon community. They have proven themselves responsible with driving positive change on the encyclopedia with content, style, policy, and community concerns, and serve as Bulbapedia's official voice as needed when issues arise. They are granted appropriate permissions accordingly.


While Bulbapedia is very much a community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia, senior staff at Bulbagarden feel that an official voice is needed to have a final say in issues and disputes, to put their feet down, so to speak.
The Leadership Board consists of the Bulbapedia Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, as well as a select number of members chosen by the Editor-in-Chief. Bulbagarden's Executive Staff hold honorary positions on the Board. Staff who leave the Leadership Board can retain Administrator rank provided they can meet the requirements and expectations of the role.

In accordance to Bulbagarden's [[Bulbapedia:Values|four core values]], members of the Leadership Board act as leaders for the encyclopedia, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all contributors. In addition to the expectations for both [[Bulbapedia:Staff#Staff expectations|Bulbapedia staff members]] and all previous staff levels ([[Bulbapedia:Junior Administrators#Staff expectations|Junior Administrators]] and [[Bulbapedia:Administrators#Staff expectations|Administrators]]), the Leadership Board has the following responsibilities and expectations:

From time to time, a member of the editorial board will issue sysop power to regular contributors. This action serves two purposes: one, to allow the contributor to perform maintenance tasks such as removing pages made by accident; two, as a safeguard against vandalism: by having many administrators, we hope that vandals will be caught and blocked before they can cause significant damage.

The Leadership Board is tasked with setting official binding policy, synthesizing all available information to do so. The Leadership Board is also afforded the following rights:  
* Locking and unlocking of the Bulbapedia database for maintenance
* The ability to change all user rights on Bulbapedia and Bulbagarden Archives
* The ability to rename users on individual wikis and in the central database


Significant disputes which cannot be resolved by negotiation will occasionally result in edicts being issued by the executive policymakers.

Any board member may motion to issue an invitation, provided it is seconded by at least one other board member; however, all appointments are still subject to approval by the Editor-in-Chief or the Deputies, and veto by the executive policymakers.
