---|
Twinleaf Town (Japanese: フタバタウン Futaba Town) is situated in the western part of the Sinnoh region. It is here that the protagonist of the Generation IV games and several other notable trainers begin their Pokémon journeys. Twinleaf is the hometown of the player and their rival, Pearl, and the first town known to the player in the games. It is also the nearest town to Lake Verity, referred to by residents as their local lake. North of the town lies Route 201, a junction which leads to Verity Lakefront to the west, and Sandgem Town to the east.
In the southern borderline of trees of the town sits a small pond where an Odd Keystone can be found, if the player can surf to reach it.
Places of interest
Player's house
This is the house where the player lives before beginning their journey. The player's mother lives here, and after the player has left town for the first time, going home and talking to her will fully rest/restore all of the player's Pokémon, just like a Pokémon Center.
There are two levels to the house, the first being a living room and kitchen area, while upstairs on the second level is the player's bedroom. It contains a Nintendo Wii controlled with a Wii Remote, connected to a television, and a PC which reads: "Pokémon Basics... People live alongside Pokémon in this world. The people that battle Pokémon are called Pokémon Trainers." Due to the PC no longer having the item storage functionality, Lucas or Dawn's PC only gives hints on how to play the game. A sign on the wall next to the stairs reads:
Rival's House
This is the house where the player's rival and his mother reside in. Like the player's house, there are two levels, the first being a living room and kitchen area, while upstairs on the second level is the rival's bedroom.
Demographics
Twinleaf Town has a population of 8, not counting the player or the rival, making it the least populated area in Sinnoh.
Items
- Odd Keystone: Hidden in tree along left side of pond, Surf required
Key items
- Running Shoes: Obtained from player's mother at the start of the game
- Journal: Obtained from player's mother after returning from Sandgem Town
- Parcel: Obtained from rival's mother in player's house, to deliver to rival

Location Sinnoh Route 0 Location of {{{name}}} in Sinnoh. |
Route 201 is a route in Sinnoh. This route is the first route in the 200s, and by extension, the first route that can be traveled on in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.
Route description
Route 201 primarily connects Lake Verity and Sandgem Town, but the route is also accessible from Twinleaf Town from the south. The westernmost portion of this route is considered Verity Lakefront. This stretches from the gap of trees just west of Twinleaf Town all the way to Lake Verity.
Upon leaving Twinleaf Town, as the player does in the games, a short path north will lead to a T-junction. A long ledge lies ahead which can only be accessed from the east. At this point, turning west will carry on to Verity Lakefront and subsequently to Lake Verity, whereas turning east will head in the general direction of Sandgem Town. Going east, the path temporarily gives way to a long patch of tall grass, before continuing again on the other side, towards another junction. Following the path north here will double back west towards the long ledge. Beside the junction is a sign with a Trainer Tip. Keeping straight, the path will pass larger patches of grass on both sides until it reaches a bend north. Unfortunately, a ledge prevents further access from the south, but provides a handy shortcut for those coming from Sandgem. To reach the other side, a detour through the grass to the west is forced to be taken, before returning to the path, which turns and remains east until it reaches the town. There are no trainers to battle on this route.
In Platinum, Professor Rowan gives the player and rival their Starter Pokémon here.

Sandgem Town (Japanese: マサゴタウン Masago Town) is a location in the region of Sinnoh, the featured area in the Generation IV games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The town notably has sandy terrain to the south, the beginnings of Sandgem Beach. The beach, part of Route 219, is in close proximity to the town itself.
Professor Rowan's laboratory is located here. It is also the hometown for Dawn or Lucas, depending on the player's gender. The little sister of Dawn or Lucas gives information about swarms she sees on television. It is the first location in Sinnoh where Poké Balls are able to be purchased. The town smells of the salty scent of the sea.
Places of interest
Pokémon Research Lab
The Lab lies right next to the western entrance into Sandgem Town. Professor Rowan works here along with two assistants, one of whom is the father of Dawn/Lucas. It is here that the Professor gives the player their Pokédex.
Pokémon Center
- Main article: Pokémon Center
Sandgem's Pokémon Center is located right next to the Pokémon Research Lab, and is the first Pokémon Center the player will encounter on his journey. It provides an essential place for trainers from the neighboring routes to stop and rest. A sign outside reads:
Dawn/Lucas's House
As the player's pseudo-rival, Dawn (if the player character is male) or Lucas (if the player character is female) will live in the house nearest to the southern entrance. Inside, after receiving the National Pokédex, their sister will inform the player of any swarms.
Demographics
The population of Sandgem Town is 18 people.

Route 202 is a route in Sinnoh. Unlike most routes, this route was shown by name in the anime through numerous signs in Following a Maiden Voyage, Two Degrees of Separation and When Pokémon Worlds Collide. It is a winding path that twists through grassy fields where young trainers like to battle with each other.
In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, this route is where the player is given a demonstration on how to catch a Pokémon, by either Dawn or Lucas, depending on the player's gender. Five Poké Balls are given to the player to get them started.
Route description
Route 202 connects Jubilife City in the north and Sandgem Town in the south.
From the southern end of the route, the path goes north for a short while, before sharply turning to the west, where the player enters the first patch of grass on the route. It carries on going west, until, shortly afterwards, there is another patch of grass. Almost immediately, the route turns to the north. Soon, it turns to the east, where Youngster Tristan is found. Afterwards, the path splits, but the player can't proceed far to the north, as it is blocked by a ledge.
Continuing onwards, the path turns to the south before shortly resuming its way to the east, where Lass Natalie stands. Immediately, there is another large patch of grass, and the path, again, turns to the north. After continuing for a short while, the path turns to the west, where Youngster Logan is. Afterwards, there is a fork in the road, where the player can either go to Jubilife City in the north, or towards another small patch of grass to the west.
Items
- Poké Ball (×5): Obtained from Dawn or Lucas after a demonstration on catching Pokémon
- Potion: Patch of grass just west of northern terminus

Jubilife City (Japanese: コトブキシティ Kotobuki City) is a city in the region of Sinnoh. The entire city is built on land carved out of a mountain by the residents of neighboring Oreburgh City. Jubilife City is the most modernized city in the region, and according to the anime, the largest city in Sinnoh. The city can be accessed from all four directions, with a guardhouse occupying the west entrance.
There are many distinctive buildings in Jubilife City, including the TV station, where Mystery Gift can be activated, the Pokétch Company, the Trainers' School, and one of the most important establishments in the game, the Global Trade Station, which allows players to trade Pokémon with anyone across the entire world.
In the lookout station, talking to the fisherman will give the player his Old Rod.
Places of interest
Jubilife TV
- Main article: Jubilife TV
The Jubilife TV station is a noticeable big, white and cube-shaped building located in the northern section of the city. A Pokétch campaign clown blocks the main doors until the player defeats the Galactic Grunts at the north end of the city; this event happens upon returning from Oreburgh City with the Coal Badge. Inside the building, The headquarters is home to a daily lottery, where, depending on how much the drawn number matches the Trainer ID number of Pokémon owned by the drawing Trainer, he or she may win a new backdrop for Super Contests (only in D/P), a PP Up, an Exp. Share, a Max Revive, or even, if the numbers match exactly, a Master Ball. In Diamond and Pearl, a Trainer also appears in the lobby and can be fought once a day. The Trainer that appears depends on the current day. On the second floor, Trainers can dress up their Pokémon using their Accessories. On the third floor, players can see various records set by those they have mixed records with. Additionally, a man on the third floor allows the player to activate Mystery Gift.
Lottery Prizes are awarded based on the ID number of a Trainer's Pokémon, including ones in their party and in their PC boxes. The game determines whether a Pokémon's ID is a winner or not beginning with the rightmost digit. Different prizes are awarded based on how many digits the winner has in common with the day's lucky number. The prizes, in ascending order, are: Backdrops (D/P)/Ultra Ball (Platinum), PP Up, Exp. Share, Max Revive, and the rare Master Ball.
A man standing outside the TV station will give the player the option to form a group. By mixing records with other players, a player is allowed to join any group of which their friend is a member, upon speaking with the man again.
Global Trade Station / Global Terminal
- Main article: Global Terminal
The Global Trade Station is located in the southwestern section of the city. Within the building, players have the opportunity to trade Pokémon with other players around the world. In order to access the GTS, the player must have the Coal Badge.
Inside, there is a large globe, called Geonet, on which players can indicate their location, and on which small dots representing players they have traded with will appear. If the player talks with the woman at the counter, she will direct him or her into a room in which they can either put up a Pokémon to be traded or trade a Pokémon they own for one that has been put up for trade. Pokémon searches, after being confined to one species that has been seen by the player, can be further narrowed down to level and gender of the Pokémon available. By level, players can search for and request Pokémon level 9 and under, level 10 and up, level 20 and up, and so on to level 100, or they can search for Pokémon of any level. Gender is similar, with the player being able to search for male, female, or either gender of the selected Pokémon. Pokémon offerings are similarly governed, as the requested Pokémon in return cannot be any Pokémon that the player has not seen. Unfortunately, Pokémon that are offered cannot be bargained, as the player has to choose one Pokémon he or she wants for it, instead of having a more flexible list.
In Pokémon Platinum, the GTS has been redesigned to be larger and contain more features. It is located in the same place as the older GTS, in Jubilife City, with its name changed to the Global Terminal. One addition is a woman who gives away a random backdrop daily, rather than initially winning them in the daily lottery. Other than the regular trading feature, there is a new feature where players may exchange Pokémon with another friend. The Global Terminal is apparently a computer-like machine which the player operates. The Vs. Recorder, also introduced in Pokémon Platinum, has the ability to record and replay battles made in-game. A player may send and receive battles over Nintendo Wi-Fi using the Global Station. These battles can also be ranked by popularity and be watched by people on Wi-Fi. In addition, players can take pictures of their PC storage boxes and send them over Wi-Fi to friends. The GTS has incorporated an e-mail system that allows players to be notified of completed trades. The notification messages are sent to the player's actual e-mail address, and so the messages can be viewed either on a PC, mobile phone or a Wii console. In this way, the player will be spared of having to return to the GTS only to find that a trade has not yet been completed.
Pokétch Company
- Main article: Pokétch Company
The Pokétch Company's headquarters is located in the northwestern section of the city. The Pokétch Company is a family-owned company, and the manufacturer of the Pokétch. It is relatively small, unlike Silph Co. or the Devon Corporation, and actually started as a hobby of the owner, who made what he liked before the business grew to its present state. The building has three floors, in which the family of the president of the company reside in. The president holds a promotion to receive a free Pokétch in Jubilife City, if three clowns with Pokémon trivia questions can be found, and coupons collected from each. He will also give new Pokétch applications out to the player.
Trainers' School
- Main article: Trainers' School
The Trainers' School is located in the center of the city, west of the Pokémon Center. The School features tutorials on how to raise Pokémon. There are two adjoined rooms in the School. The kids on the left room have some basic information about the game of Pokémon. On the table is a notebook with notes on Trainers written inside. Status ailments and their effects are listed on the chalkboard at the back. In the room on the right, there are two School Kids on a blue carpet who will ask the player to battle. There is a version-dependent reward for defeating them both. If the School Kids inside are defeated, they hand out TM10 (Hidden Power) on Diamond and Pearl, or a Potion on Platinum.
On the player's first visit to the School, their rival is situated at the back of the room, reading the chalkboard. Upon talking to the rival, the player will deliver the Parcel entrusted to them by the rival's mother back in Twinleaf Town. Two Town Maps are found inside the Parcel, and the rival will give the player one.
Jubilife Condominiums
Jubilife Condominiums is located in the northeastern section of the city. The building has two floors. On the ground floor, an old lady says how fetching a Pokétch is, and the young girl with a Pachirisu and Pikachu gives the player a Quick Claw. On the second floor, a girl tells about the advantage of Heal Balls and the guy in Bug Catcher apparel lectures on new moves. This floor is an educational one for new Trainers.
Demographics
The population is 68, making it the third biggest city in the Pokémon world and the biggest in Sinnoh. The two larger cities are Goldenrod City, with a population of 77, and Lilycove City, with a population of 71 people, just 9 people and 3 people over Jubilife City's population, respectively.

---|
Oreburgh City (Japanese: クロガネシティ Kurogane City) is a city located in central Sinnoh. Oreburgh is first accessible via the Oreburgh Gate, which is to the west of the city. This is one of two connecting routes to getting to the City. The other is Route 207, which is north of the city. The Oreburgh Mines is to the south of the city. It is the location of the first Gym in Sinnoh, led by Roark. It is here where trainers receive the Coal Badge, the first badge one can earn in the conquest of the Sinnoh region's Pokémon League.
Oreburgh is a mining town blessed with significant natural resources. Prominent vents throughout the city exchange the stale air from the mines below with the fresh, above-ground air. There is a girl in the city who will trade the elusive Abra for a Machop. Oreburgh is home to the Oreburgh Mining Museum, as well as the Oreburgh Mine. The miners often take breaks in the Gym between the work shifts. Roark lets the citizens of the town train their Pokémon in the mines.
Places of interest
Oreburgh Mining Museum
- Main article: Oreburgh Mining Museum
The Oreburgh Mining Museum is a museum located north-east of Oreburgh City. The Oreburgh Mining Museum is a large, one floor museum that contains many visual displays as well as facts about coal and the Oreburgh Mine. There is also a man at the front desk that will revive fossils in the party for free. Unlike other museums, the Oreburgh Mining Museum is free to enter. The Oreburgh Mining Museum primary importance is the resurrection of fossils, which is done with the help of the man near the counter. He will be able to revive these fossils for free but only one at a time. He is very bossy, annoyed when the player comes by too early or late, and gets disappointed when the player doesn't give him a fossil.
Oreburgh Mine
- Main article: Oreburgh Mine
The Oreburgh Mine is located at the far south of Oreburgh City. It is run by Roark, who is also the Gym Leader of the city. It is the livelihood of the town. Vents in the town allow steam to escape and fresh air to enter the mine, likely also clearing the mine of any poison gas (which is historically the bane of coal miners). The mine is operated with the utmost care to avoid causing damage to the natural habitats of wild Pokémon. The system of taking coal out of the mine is automated. Roark lets trainers from the town train their Pokémon in the mine. The mine itself extends not only under the town, but the seafloor as well. All of the miners have their own Pokémon, usually Machop, to assist them in the mine.
In-game trade
In a large two story house, north-west of Oreburgh City is a woman that wants to trade the player an elusive Abra for a Machop. The Abra will be nicknamed "Kazza", and it will be holding an Oran Berry. The OT will be "Hilary" and its ID will be 25643. The Pokémon's level will be the same as the one that the player traded.

The Oreburgh Gym (Japanese: クロガネジム Kurogane Gym) is the official gym of Oreburgh City. It is based on Template:Type2 Pokémon. The Gym Leader is Roark. Trainers who defeat him receive the Coal Badge.
In the games
The Oreburgh Gym is a narrow building built of stone. Two paths exist, a raised path that avoids the trainers and a middle path that takes challengers straight through the gym. Roark waits on a raised hill at the end of the paths. Although only two trainers actually appear in the Gym, most of the miners in the Oreburgh Mine are also members who relax at the Gym in their free time.
