Delibird is a red, penguin-like Pokémon with a white, hollow tail. Its face and chest are covered in white feathers with two, three-pointed crests above its eyes. Black markings surround its circular eyes, and it has a light yellow beak and feet. There is a single white spot on its stomach. Its feet have two digits each.

Delibird carries food bundled up in its tail. It normally gives stored food to its chicks, but has been known to share its food with humans stranded on icy mountains. Delibird's signature move, Present, allows it to carry special items in its tail that may cause damage or heal its opponent. Delibird tends to live in List of Pokémon by habitat, making its nests over sharp cliffs; one notable area of the world is around Mt. Everest.
Delibird is omnivorous. It carries food bundled up in its tail. It normally gives stored food to its chicks, but has been known to share its food with humans stranded on icy mountains. As mentioned in Sleep, Delibird is known to sleep while occasionally reaching inside its tail to pull something out. Prior to Generation IX, Delibird was the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Present by leveling up. Present allows it to carry special items in its tail that may cause damage or heal its opponent. In a flock, the Delibird with the largest tail is its leader. Delibird tends to live in List of Pokémon by habitat, making its nests over sharp cliffs; notably around Mt. Everest. Iron Bundle shares a resemblance to Delibird and is believed to be a Delibird-based machine built by an ancient civilization.

Major appearances
Delibird (Team Rocket)
Delibird's first appearance in the main series was in Dues and Don'ts. It was owned by an elderly talent scout from Team Rocket. Since that episode, the Delivery Pokémon kept following Jessie, James and MTR to collect money that the three of them owe. Fortunately for the Rocket Trio, Delibird was no longer able to tail them since the action moved to the Hoenn Region. Delibird has also appeared in Grating Spaces, The Thief That Keeps On Thieving, and Memories are Made of Bliss!.
Other
Delibird first appeared in Delibird's Dilemma under the ownership of Santa Claus. Ash's Totodile shot a Delibird that was delivering presents clear out of the sky with a Water Gun-propelled snowball. Pikachu and co. had to help the Delivery Pokémon find the five presents before midnight.

Minor appearances
A Delibird also appeared in Battling the Generation Gap!.

Multiple Delibird appeared in Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Delibird debuted in You Ain't Nothin' but a Houndour under the ownership of the Masked Man, where it, along with his other Pokémon, attacked Gold. It is one of his most commonly used Pokémon. It appears to be the same Pokémon used by him in his alias, and was strong enough that it allowed him to capture Ho-Oh. However, Gold was able to knock it out with Polibo's Perish Song attack.

Delibird appears as one of the Pokémon used by Pryce. It first appeared with him in his Gym. It is likely to be the same Delibird used by his alias.

Major appearances
Delibird (Team Rocket)
Delibird made its main series debut in Dues and Don'ts, where one was affiliated with an elderly talent scout from Team Rocket. Since that episode, the category kept following Jessie, James, and MTR to collect money that the three of them owe. Eventually, Delibird was unable to tail the Team Rocket trio ever since they moved to the Hoenn region.
Other
Delibird debuted in Delibird's Dilemma, under the ownership of Santa Claus. Ash's Totodile shot it clear out of the sky with a Water Gun-propelled snowball while it was delivering presents. As a result, Pikachu and his friends had to help the Delivery Pokémon find the five presents before midnight.
Minor appearances
In Battling The Generation Gap!, a Coordinator's Delibird competed in the Celestic Contest.
Multiple Delibird appeared in Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction.
Three Trainers' Delibird appeared in The Power of Us.
In Battling on the Wing!, a Trainer's Delibird watched the battles during the Manalo Conference.

It appears to be the same Pokémon used by him in his alias, and was strong enough that it allowed him to capture Ho-Oh. However, Gold was able to knock it out with Polibo's Perish Song.
Pryce owns a Delibird that first appeared with him in his Gym in Irked Igglybuff and Curmudgeonly Cleffa. It is likely to be the same Delibird used by his alias.

Origin
Origin
Aspects of Delibird's appearance appear to come from the rockhopper penguin. However, its red and white color scheme, its ability to give presents, and the appearance of carrying its sack-like tail is likely to have been derived from Santa Claus and possibly the white stork. Delibird may have also been inspired by puffins, which are penguin-like birds that still have the ability to fly.

Delibird is a combination of delivery and bird. Deli may have derived from the Adélie penguin. Pronouncing Delibird with the same inflection as delivered yields a very similar sound, with the "b" and "v" being the only variation between the two words.

Pronouncing Delibird with the same inflection as delivered yields a very similar pronunciation, with the "b" and "v" being the only variation between the two words. Delibird (Japanese: デリバード Delibird) is a dual-type Ice/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation II.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

It is said to be a relative of the Paradox Pokémon Iron Bundle[1] or a version of it[2] from a different timeline.

Biology

Delibird is a red, avian Pokémon with a white, hollow tail. Its face and chest are covered in white feathers with two, three-pointed crests above its eyes. Black markings surround its circular eyes, and it has a light yellow beak and feet. There is a single white spot on its stomach. Its feet have two digits each.

Delibird is omnivorous. It carries food bundled up in its tail. It normally gives stored food to its chicks, but has been known to share its food with humans stranded on icy mountains. As mentioned in Pokémon Sleep, Delibird is known to sleep while occasionally reaching inside its tail to pull something out.[3] Prior to Generation IX, Delibird was the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Present by leveling up. Present allows it to carry special items in its tail that may cause damage or heal its opponent. In a flock, the Delibird with the largest tail is its leader. Delibird tends to live in mountainous regions, making its nests over sharp cliffs; notably around Mt. Everest. Iron Bundle shares a resemblance to Delibird and is believed to be a Delibird-based machine built by an ancient civilization.

Game data

NPC appearances

 • Pokémon Stadium 2: Delibird stars in its own mini-game called "Delibird's Delivery." In this game, players collect presents from one side of the field to the other. The player must avoid Swinub that scurry around or they will trip the Delibird and cause the player to lose the present they were carrying.
 • Pokémon Channel: Delibird is the delivery boy for the "Shop 'n Squirtle."

Major appearances

Delibird (Team Rocket)

Delibird made its main series debut in Dues and Don'ts, where one was affiliated with an elderly talent scout from Team Rocket. Since that episode, the Delivery Pokémon kept following Jessie, James, and Meowth to collect money that the three of them owe.

Gold, Silver & Crystal arc

In You Ain't Nothin' but a Houndour, a Delibird attacked Gold under the command of the Masked Man. It is one of his most commonly used Pokémon. It appears to be the same Pokémon used by him in his alias, and was strong enough that it allowed him to capture Ho-Oh. However, Gold was able to knock it out with Polibo's Perish Song.

Pryce owns a Delibird that first appeared with him in his Gym in Irked Igglybuff and Curmudgeonly Cleffa. It is likely to be the same Delibird used by his alias.

Diamond & Pearl arc

In Striking Out Snover, a wild Delibird was near Snowpoint City, being cared for by Candice.

Pokémon Gotta Catch 'Em All

A Delibird appeared in GDZ67, under the ownership of a monk.

Trivia

 • Delibird is one of the few Pokémon who can learn TM moves when it learns fewer than four moves by leveling up.
 • Delibird has Insomnia as its Hidden Ability although it already has access to Vital Spirit, another Ability with exactly the same in-battle effect.
 • Starting in Pokémon Emerald, both of Delibird's regular Abilities have the same field effect, which is also shared by Pressure.

Origin

Aspects of Delibird's appearance appear to come from the rockhopper penguin. However, its red-and-white color scheme, its ability to give presents, and the appearance of carrying its sack-like tail is likely to have been derived from Santa Claus and possibly the white stork.

Name origin

Delibird is a combination of delivery and bird. Deli may have derived from the Adélie penguin. Pronouncing Delibird with the same inflection as delivered yields a very similar pronunciation, with the "b" and "v" being the only variation between the two words. As the "v" sound does not exist in the Japanese language, it is commonly pronounced as a "b" sound by Japanese speakers.
