Milos Island is also known as the "Island of Legends", because an ancient legend that tells of a time when Tornadus and Thundurus wreaked havoc across the island. Landorus pleaded with the warring forces for peace, but was attack in response. A shrine maiden and a Gothita offered Landorus a Revival Herb, giving Landorus the strength to banish Thundurus and Tornadus. In honor of the gift, Landorus showered Milos Island with Revival Herb seeds. Today Milos Island remains the world's only source of Revival Herbs. Three obelisks, one on each of island, were later constructed to keep the Forces of Nature locked away.

However from The Lonely Deino! to A Call for Brotherly Love!, Team Rocket prepared their plans to capture the Forces of Nature, and destroyed each of the shrine wedges to summon them to Milos Island. In Stopping the Rage of Legends! Part 1, Thundurus and Tornadus arrived on the island and began to wreak havoc.

Ash and his friends learned of the unfolding crisis after venturing to Milos to get some Revival Herbs for Driftveil Gym Leader Clay. They joined forces with Lewis, a Revival Herb harvester. Taking inspiration from the island legend, Iris, posed as a shrine maiden, and Lewis's Gothita summoned Landorus to Milos Island by Part 2. Landorus was able to calm Thundurus and Tornadus, showering Milos Island with Revival Herbs as thanks.
