Welcome to Bulbapedia, CuteShaymin!
Bulbapedia bulb.png

Thank you for joining our community! By creating an account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. This is a brief introduction to Bulbapedia's rules and resources to help you get started:

  • All users are expected to follow the code of conduct and to be kind to one another.
  • If you have a question, check out our FAQ; the manual of style provides detailed editing guidance, and the wikicode page provides details about how to use wikicode. You can always ask for help by contacting a staff member.
  • Please preview your edits before saving them; this helps you double-check your changes and reduces the need for repeated minor edits.
  • Use talk pages to discuss changes and resolve editing disputes.
  • Creating a userpage is allowed after you've added to the encyclopedia; for more details, see the userspace policy.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links and information, check out the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Page button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Also, if you want to edit multiple sections of the page, make sure that you click "edit this page" at the top of the page rather than editing it by section. Thanks! --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:30, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

Kecleon Shop items

Please be aware that the sellable items list you're adding is from just the Rescue Team games. Different Mystery Dungeon games have different items for sell, including the remake of the Rescue Ream games. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:35, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

For future reference, please keep the discussions on one talk page instead of responding to another talk page. The conversation will be easier to follow that way. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 22:56, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

Connection template

For creating lists on what Pokémon can be connected at each town, I recommend using a template like the one found on this page for example. This will take less space, be more colorful, and also allows a description of the connection method to be added. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 19:31, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

Miscellaneous advice

I suggest you familiarize yourself with some link templates to make your links simpler. The most common ones are {{p}} for Pokémon species, {{m}} for moves, {{a}} for Abilities, and {{t}} for types. You can find more from the category I linked. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 09:37, 11 April 2024 (UTC)

Another template I recommend is {{OBP}}. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:32, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

New Pages

Hi, congratulations on creating your first new pages! From next time, when creating new pages, please remember to add categories and Project tags at the bottom of the page. (The trick is to look up which tag a similar page uses, and use a similar one). If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! → PikaTepig999 19:51, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

I'd also like to extend thanks for helping expand our UNITE content. A helpful tip might be to look over the manual of style, in particular its guidance on article titles (though note these are set to be updated soon). In particular, page titles should generally be singular ("item" not "items"). If you're unsure, feel free to ask a staff member for additional guidance. Keep up the great work! Landfish7 21:54, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi there! Just another reminder to remember to add project tags to new articles, such as {{Project Games notice}} for an article relevant to the games. Thanks! Landfish7 12:07, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Talk page policy and conduct

Hi! You seem to be very active on talk pages, so I'd like to suggest that you review the talk page policy, as it explains a lot about how talk pages work, what they're used for, and how to use them appropriately. One thing to note is that talk pages are generally to be used for communication and discussion related to improving the wiki, not for off-topic discussions.

I noticed a few of your recent discussions seem to be off topic, speculating on the subject matter of the article rather than discussing improvements to their content. I'd suggest instead taking these discussions to the Bulbagarden forums or Discord server, where people would be happy to chat with you about these sorts of things!

On another note, while you are free to share your honest opinions and thoughts on talk pages regarding the wiki's content, please remember to be respectful and follow the code of conduct. Some of your recent comments didn't seem very friendly, such as this comment here. Comments like these may make some users feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. All we ask is that everyone be nice and try to make the wiki a pleasant place for everyone.

I appreciate your energy and passion, and hope to see that driven into some great discussions that will make this wiki an even better place than it already is! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or another staff member, and we'll be happy to help. Thanks! Landfish7 01:03, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Mystery Dungeon portraits

After seeing your edits, I've been thinking about ways to incorporate Mystery Dungeon portraits onto pages where they would be useful. I'd like to invite you to join the Bulbapedia Discord so you can be part of the discussion. I'd be happy to take care of uploading the SMD portraits, but I want to make sure we can be on the same page about how they should be named. Minibug (talk) 22:20, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Blurbs

Please do not remove links to blurbs from the episode pages, they are there to help people find the blurbs a lot easier and belong on the page.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 21:53, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

@BigDocFan, I do not believe the placement of them is appropriate. They should be listed as a Reference instead if you want them to be included. --CuteShaymin (talk) 22:03, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
While that may be true, current standards for this link list them the way they are. If you disagree with their placement, bring up the topic on Bulbapedia talk:Project Anime, but removing resources from pages meant to make things easier and more factual for future editors is not the way to change practices for the wiki. Do not remove them anymore without further discussion. Thanks MaverickNate 22:54, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

CuteShaymin, I started a discussion on Bulbapedia talk:Project Anime#Episode Blurb links about making the commented out episode blurb links visible to the reader. If you're interested in this discussion, I'd appreciate if you can voice your support on that talk page. Thanks. → PikaTepig999 22:32, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Edit warring.

Hello. When someone reverts an edit you made, don’t just revert it back without some sort of discussion. That is what we call “edit warring”, and is against the rules. If you believe your edit is needed, then take it to the user’s talk page or the talk page of the article in question. Ataro (talk) 00:24, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

Link templates

For simpler links, I recommend you familiarize yourself with Bulbapedia's link templates. The most useful ones I can recommend are {{p}}, {{m}}, {{a}}, and {{OBP}}. More templates can be found through from the link I provided. Thank you. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 09:22, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Speculation

Please don't add speculation about anime characters and their Pokémon like you did with James' Cacnea, we only add confirmed facts.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 20:19, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Creating articles and a note about collaboration

A reminder to please make sure that new articles meet the standards set by the manual of style. Articles need to be categorized and given the proper Project tag, such as by placing the {{Project Sidegames notice}} at the bottom of the Fair-play point article (usually above the categories). Additionally, a reminder that titles should generally be singular per the manual of style's guidance on article titles (stay tuned to Bulbapedia's Main Page for upcoming announcements, as some additional guidance on this will be added to the manual of style soon).

On another note, I noticed you don't seem to respond to your talk page messages much, which gives the appearance that you are not reading the advice being given to you. Bulbapedia is a collaborative project, so I'd appreciate it if you'd make an effort to respond to talk page messages as well as to discuss important changes (such as the creation of new pages) with the community to make sure that the changes are something that are pleasing to everyone.

As a first step, please show me that you've read this message by adding the {{Project Sidegames notice}} to the bottom of the Fair-play point article. Keep in mind that a failure to acknowledge this message and to take the advice being given to you may require us to issue a short block to get your attention. Bulbapedia is a community effort and we achieve great things when we work together, so I look forward to working with you to help make this wiki the best it can be! Thank you, and have a wonderful day. Landfish7 11:20, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

So um, did you read this (and the above sections)? We don't really want to resort to getting your attention via blocks (but if we must, we will). Nescientist (talk) 22:34, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Talk Page Usage

Hello, this message is to inform you that your recent edits have been counterproductive. If another user reverts your edit (especially staff), adding it right back may constitute as edit warring. If you disagree with your edits being removed, they should be taken to the talk page first. While your edits seem to be improving slightly over time, I notice you tend to ignore your own talk page and seldom respond to advice from other members or staff. If you continue to ignore staff advice and warnings, you will be blocked for a short time and be allowed to edit your talk page so you can respond to staff about why you are ignoring our advice and warnings. Frozen Fennec 03:56, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

Blocked

You have been blocked for three days for the following reasons:

1. Refusal to respond on talk pages
2. Edit warring and reverting other users and admins
3. Refusal to use talk pages to settle debates about edits

As noted above, Landfish7, BigDocFan, and Nescientist all gave advice, tips, and lastly a warning regarding your edits and refusal to respond to talk page comments. You have been left with the ability to respond on your talk page for why you refuse to listen to admins and continue to partake in edit wars when your edits are reverted. Once the block is over, if your behavior and refusal to acknowledge the talk page continues, you will be blocked for a longer period of time. Frozen Fennec 14:40, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

Excuse you. I believe it is my right not to respond to rude comments. --CuteShaymin (talk) 17:44, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
I don't consider our comments to be rude, we're trying our best to use our years of experience editing Bulbapedia to help you know the way we operate to help keep Bulbapedia a peaceful community.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 17:57, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
All I've gotten on here is attacks and mistreatment since the start. --CuteShaymin (talk) 18:51, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
Our intention is not to be rude or attack you, but it is our responsibility as staff to make sure that the wiki runs smoothly by encouraging healthy collaborations and upholding the standards and expectations of the encyclopedia and its policies and style so that readers and editors have a consistent and positive experience.
We'd much prefer to resolve things through discussion, but if you continue to disregard our warnings by not following the code of conduct and the manual of style, we will have to resort to further blocks so that we know that our expectations are understood. I can tell you have a lot of big ideas for improving the wiki, and we'd really like to work together with you so that we can make them happen in such a way that is a pleasant experience for everyone. Landfish7 19:06, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
It feels like everyone on here wants to fight me. This has not felt like a very welcoming and friendly place --CuteShaymin (talk) 02:42, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
Nobody wants to fight you at all. You just having a hard time accepting constructive feedback without assuming people are attacking you or mistreamtent. no one is being cruel to you. They are helping while giving you constructive advice. I have recieved feedback on the site all the time and used to help me improve. I am not perfect and going to make mistake. Its important to take with being humbled and not assuming the worst.Jacob9594 (talk) 04:19, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
