Release information
This card originated in the Base Set with artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi. It was reprinted in the Base Set 2 reprint set, which was only released outside of Japan. It was also reprinted with updated text and new artwork by Ryo Ueda in Diamond & Pearl, Secret Wonders and Platinum. The key difference between these two prints is that the original print applied its effect after applying Weakness and Resistance, while the later print applied the effect before applying Weakness and Resistance. It was reprinted in the Unleashed with new artwork by Takashi Yamaguchi. This print changes "Active Pokémon" in the second paragraph to "Defending Pokémon", easing possible confusion over the intended target of the card's effect. The Japanese release of this print was reclassified as a Goods card, but the English did not adopt this name and continued classifying it as a Trainer card. It was then reprinted in the Reviving Legends expansion with new artwork by Ryo Ueda, and later, the White Collection with new artwork by 5ban Graphics.

Trivia
Trivia
The Unleashed print of the card was errata'd to revert it back to the wording first used in the Diamond & Pearl print.
* Originally, PlusPower increased damage done by attacks to each player's Pokémon, not just the opponent's. When Leaders' Stadium was released, an erratum was issued, which applied to PlusPower's Tamamushi City Gym print, and then to the international releases of the card.

PlusPower is the Japanese name of X Attack, an item in the Pokémon games. The Japanese name of the item was either used for the English card by mistake, or used intentionally as 'PlusPower' is inscribed on the side of the object in the card's original artwork.

Release information

This card was included in the Base Set with artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi, first released in the Japanese Expansion Pack. It was reprinted in the Base Set 2 expansion. It was reprinted again in the Japanese Tamamushi City Gym and Yamabuki City Gym theme decks, and the Chikorita Side Deck of the Japanese Intro Pack Neo.

It was later reprinted with updated text and new artwork by Ryo Ueda in the Diamond & Pearl expansion, first released in the Japanese Space-Time Creation expansion. The key difference between the original and this print is that the original applied its effect after applying Weakness and Resistance, while the new print applied its effect before applying Weakness and Resistance. This print was reprinted in the Secret Wonders expansion, first released in the Japanese Dialga LV.X and Palkia LV.X Constructed Standard Decks, in both half decks of the Japanese Magmortar vs Electivire Deck Kit, the Infernape Half Deck of the Japanese Entry Pack '08. It was reprinted again in the Platinum expansion, first released in the Giratina Half Deck of the Japanese Entry Pack DPt.

PlusPower was later reclassified in Japan as an Item card during the LEGEND Era, though the English prints did not adopt this naming convention until the release of the Black & White expansion. It was reprinted in the Unleashed expansion with new artwork by Hideaki Hakozaki, first released in the Raichu Battle Starter Deck. This print changes "Active Pokémon" in the second paragraph to "Defending Pokémon", easing possible confusion over the intended target of the card's effect, but was later given errata to revert it back to the wording first used in the Diamond & Pearl print. It was reprinted again in the Japanese Reviving Legends expansion with different artwork by Ryo Ueda.

PlusPower was reprinted during the Black & White Series with new artwork by 5ban Graphics. It was included in the Black & White expansion, first released in the Japanese White Collection expansion. In Japan, it was reprinted as a Mirror Holofoil BW-P Promotional card and was awarded to participants of the Summer Carnival Cup, which took place at the Summer Carnival in Tokyo Tower from July 23 to August 28, 2011. This print also features a Summer Carnival in Tokyo Tower stamp in the bottom right corner of the illustration. Non Holofoil prints were subsequently reprinted in the Master Deck Build Box EX, Everyone's Exciting Battle, and the Extra Regulation Box. Outside Japan, this print was later included in the Black & White Trainer Kit.

Trivia

 • Originally, PlusPower increased damage done by attacks to each player's Pokémon, not just the opponent's. When Leaders' Stadium was released, an erratum was issued, which applied to PlusPower's Tamamushi City Gym print, and then to the international releases of the card.[1]

Origin

PlusPower is the Japanese name of X Attack, an item in the Pokémon games. The Japanese name of the item was either used for the English card by mistake, or used intentionally, as 'PlusPower' is inscribed on the side of the object in the card's original artwork.
