Clamperl (Japanese: パールル Pearlulu; German: Perlu; French: Coquiperl) is a Water-type Pokémon.
Name origin
The English Clamperl comes from the word 'clamp' meaning to 'to hold tightly between' refering to oysters clamping shut and also a misspelling of the word 'pearl' - a precious object attained from some oysters.
The Japanese Pearlulu also comes from the English 'pearl' and the Japanese fragment 'ruru' which means 'to continue in great detail' which may refer to this Pokémon creating only one perfect pearl during its lifetime.
