Clair’s Dragonair (Japanese: イブキのハクリュー Ibuki’s Hakuryu) is Clair's main battling Pokémon in the anime, and Clair also has three in the Generation II games.

In the anime

As a Dratini

Dragonair first appeared as a Dratini in the episode Beauty is Skin Deep. Its voice actress in both Japanese and English is Megumi Hayashibara.

It was shedding its skin and Clair was protecting it at that time. When Team Rocket tried to steal Dratini, Clair protected it which led it to evolve into Dragonair.

It later appeared in Fangs for Nothin' where it tried to stop Team Rocket from stealing the Dragon Fang. When the Dragon Holy Land was in flames, Dragonair helped to put out the fire. It also helped to calm the rampaging Dragonite along with Charizard and Pikachu.

Clair used it in the Gym battle against Ash in Better Eight Than Never. With its speed and power, it defeated Ash's Pikachu easily. With a wide range of moves like Dragon Rage, it proved to be a tough challenge for Charizard as well. But finally it was able to defeat Dragonair with Seismic Toss earning Ash the Rising Badge.

Dragonair also appeared along with Clair in Why? Why Not! where it helped Ash find his missing Gym badges which were stolen by Team Rocket.

It made a brief cameo during Lyra's introduction of Johto in An Egg Scramble!.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga

Clair's Dragonair appeared in the Gold, Silver, & Crystal arc of Pokémon Adventures manga. She has raised it from a Dratini. It debuted in the round VS. Dragonair, where it was first seen defeating Clair's disciple's Kingdra in a battle. Later, Clair used Dragonair to battle against Suicune, but was defeated when it tricked them into attacking its ice reflection and launched a powerful BubbleBeam.

Clair also used her Dragonair to fight off the brainwashed Team Rocket Grunts aboard the Magnet Train. On the same train, she then used it to battle Blaine and to make him disclose the whereabouts of Lance. However, Dragonair was quickly defeated by Blaine's Entei, and after acknowledging this loss, she sends in the report that Blaine had defeated her.

Much later, Clair and her Dragonair reappear before Silver, thinking that he had something to do with Lance's disappearance.
