Earth Eater (Ability): Difference between revisions

Earth Eater (Japanese: どしょく Geophagy) is an Ability introduced in Generation IX. It is the signature ability of Orthworm.

Effect

In battle

When a Pokémon with Earth Eater is hit by a Ground-type move, its HP is restored by one quarter of its maximum HP, and the move will have no effect on that Pokémon (if a Pokémon with this Ability already has full HP, the Ground-type move will do nothing).

Earth Eater will not activate if the Pokémon is protected from the Ground-type move.

Outside of battle

Earth Eater has no effect outside of battle.

Trivia

• Earth Eater is first and currently the only game mechanic that grants immunity to Ground attacks without "raising" its user. In other words, it does not grant immunity to Arena Trap, any entry hazards, or any terrains, and Earth Eater remains active when its user is grounded.
