Differences between the movie and the manga

- Molly Hale remains the same age and doesn't transform into an older version of herself to take on Misty and Brock in the manga.
- In the manga, Ash's Cyndaquil uses Flame Wheel, a move that it would not learn until the Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl episode An Old Family Blend! almost a decade later, and Ash's Totodile uses Hydro Pump, a move it has never been seen using in the animated series.
- Ash's Charizard does not return from the Charicific Valley to help Ash against Entei in the manga.
