Darkinium Z (Japanese: アクＺ Evil Z) is a type of Z-Crystal introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. It is the type-specific Z-Crystal associated with the Dark type and allows Pokémon to upgrade their Dark-type moves to Z-Moves.

Can create Darkinium Z held items for the player's Pokémon.
Allows the holder to upgrade its
Dark-type damaging moves to the Z-Move Black Hole Eclipse or upgrade its Dark-type status moves into Z-Moves.
Unaffected by item negating effects (such as
Embargo and Klutz). Item manipulating effects (such as Trick and Fling) cannot remove a Z-Crystal from a Pokémon.
Multitype changes an Arceus holding this item to its Dark-type form. Rayquaza cannot Mega Evolve if it holds a Z-Crystal.
Outside of battle
A held Darkinium Z is automatically removed if the Pokémon is
traded between players.

Acquisition In the anime
A Darkinium Z in the
anime Team Rocket obtained a Darkinium Z in , which some A Team-on-Team Tussle! Team Skull Grunts also tried to obtain from a nest of Alolan Rattata and Raticate, with one of the Raticate being a Totem Pokémon. The same Z-Crystal reappeared in ; Acting True to Form! Jessie and James believed that they could use it with the Alolan Meowth they had just met, but discovered that they needed a Z-Ring to do so. They were finally able to perform Black Hole Eclipse with James's Mareanie in after obtaining a Why Not Give Me a Z-Ring Sometime? Z-Power Ring from Nanu. When Team Rocket left Alola in , they left their Z-Power Ring behind, along with their Darkinium Z.

Nanu used a Darkinium Z in
to have his Guiding an Awakening! Alolan Persian perform Black Hole Eclipse during his grand trial battle against Ash. After Ash defeated Nanu, Nanu contemplated giving Ash a Darkinium Z as a prize, but then quickly decided to give him a Lycanium Z instead.
A full set of
type-specific Z-Crystals, including the Darkinium Z, appeared in , where A Grand Debut! Hapu allowed Ash to choose his grand trial prize from them.
A full set of replicas of the type-specific Z-Crystals, including the Darkinium Z, also appeared in
A Team-on-Team Tussle!, where they were shown to Ash and his classmates by Professor Kukui.
