I don't understand the research question. "Does it affect Pokemon in semi-invulnerable turn" How should it? Moves with semi invulnerable turn are not Psychic type, none of the moves that can hit a Pokemon in SIT are Psychic, and none of them is Status to test Prankster. (Aside from Toxic coming from a Pranskter Poison-type Pokemon I assume...) I'll gladly test whether this works but I need to know what to test. Or is it Mind Reader+priority move? Internally, there are two different kinds of {{cat|moves that target all Pokémon}}: moves that affect the whole field, and moves that affect every Pokémon individually. If boosted by Prankster, moves that target every Pokémon on the field individually ({{m|Perish Song}}, {{m|Rototiller}}, and {{m|Flower Shield}} only), the user's grounded opponents will surround themselves in Psychic Terrain to block the move. However, for moves that affect the entire field (every other move with this targeting), Pokémon cannot surround themselves in Psychic Terrain against that move.
Similarly, all moves that target all opponents (as opposed to all adjacent opponents) at once are entry hazard moves, which all affect an entire side of the field rather than each Pokémon individually, so they are not blocked by Psychic Terrain if boosted by Prankster.
A similar distinction exists for {{cat|moves that target the user and all allies}} ({{m|Aromatherapy}}, {{m|Gear Up}}, {{m|Heal Bell}}, and {{m|Magnetic Flux}} being the only moves to target every ally individually), but that's not relevant to Psychic Terrain since only opponent's moves can be blocked by it. --[[User:SnorlaxMonster|<span style="color:#A70000">'''Snorlax'''</span>]][[User talk:SnorlaxMonster|<span style="color:#0000A7">'''Monster'''</span>]] 09:13, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
:I believe that destinction might actually be relevant elsewhere. I ''assume'' those moves that target "slots" rather than individuals (that set up side/field effects) cannot fail due to a lack of target, and that they cannot be prevented by {{m|Substitute}} (even when the actual bypass flag isn't present for the move, such as for {{m|Reflect}}) or {{m|Protect}} (which is hypothetical, as all moves seem to not have the Protect flag anyway). (I'm not into Crafty Shield, but I assume it wouldn't protect either?)

"Does it affect Pursuit used against a switching Pokémon"
It doesn't affect Pursuit's effects. Tapu Lele's ability (Psychic Surge) triggers a Psychic Terrain effect, and mine got hit today by a Honchkrow's Pursuit when I switched it out with the terrain still active on the battleground. I guess it's safe to assume Pursuit keeps its priority on switching Pokémon thanks to that, even if the terrain wasn't triggered by the move itself.

Latest revision as of 11:28, 17 September 2017

Wait, what am I missing here? How does the official site's page for Tapu Lele confirm that it learns Psychic Terrain? Near as I can tell, all it does is state that its Ability sets up Psychic Terrain, and then explain the effects of Psychic Terrain. It doesn't say that Tapu Lele actually learns Psychic Terrain. - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 04:08, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

Psychic Terrain is a move that no Pokémon was previously able to learn, and using it will boost the power of any Psychic-type moves used by Pokémon on the ground and prevent them from being hit by priority moves. [1] --Abcboy (talk) 04:40, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

Blocked moves

Internally, there are two different kinds of moves that target all Pokémon: moves that affect the whole field, and moves that affect every Pokémon individually. If boosted by Prankster, moves that target every Pokémon on the field individually (Perish Song, Rototiller, and Flower Shield only), the user's grounded opponents will surround themselves in Psychic Terrain to block the move. I believe that destinction might actually be relevant elsewhere. I assume those moves that target "slots" rather than individuals (that set up side/field effects) cannot fail due to a lack of target, and that they cannot be prevented by Substitute (even when the actual bypass flag isn't present for the move, such as for Reflect) or Protect (which is hypothetical, as all moves seem to not have the Protect flag anyway). Yes, Psychic Surge creates the same terrain. Thanks for your info. Nescientist (talk) 11:28, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
