The Pokédex main page includes a list of all Pokémon with the options to search with additional filters applied. It also includes the total number of registered species. The current time is displayed at the top-right corner.

Pokémon HOME includes Pokédex entries of all Pokémon as seen in the National Pokédex.

It records information on Pokémon that have been deposited in the Boxes in Pokémon HOME. Users can view basic information and Pokédex entries from the Generation VI, VII, and VIII core series games of Pokémon they have registered. Entries from Legends: Arceus can only be viewed when HOME is connected to a Legends: Arceus save file that has the entry for that Pokémon completed to research level 10, if that Pokémon has been registered in HOME's Pokédex. However, the HOME Pokédex will register a Pokémon deposited from Legends: Arceus as caught and unlock any other game's Pokédex entries, if any, even if the research level in Legends: Arceus is not at level 10. Pokédex entries from other languages and alternate forms of Pokémon can also be registered.

Completing the National Pokédex up to Eternatus (including Mythical Pokémon) makes the player eligible to receive an Original Color Magearna, made available for the first time in this alternate form. There were inconsistent problems with receiving this for the first month of availability, with some users not receiving a gift and others getting glitched versions, even upon completing a living Pokédex. These were later fixed.

When the player makes contact with a Pokémon Bank account for the first time, their National Pokédex on HOME will update and sync to include the entries on their National Pokédex from Bank up to Marshadow. Because Bank's National Pokédex was never updated to include Pokémon beyond that, this feature does not extend to Poipole, Naganadel, Stakataka, Blacephalon, and Zeraora.^{[citation needed]}

Pokédex entries from Pokémon Legends: Arceus like in the game itself only appear when the player reaches research level 10 by completing a certain amount of research tasks.

Pokémon HOME also includes several Pokédex entries for Pokémon Sword and Shield that are not actually present in the games. This includes all Pokémon that were present in the 1.0 versions of the games, but did not actually appear in the game's Pokédex.

Registering Pokémon and alternate forms

The Pokédex registers data for any Pokémon and form that is deposited into HOME. Additionally, when any Pokémon are transferred from Bank to HOME, all Pokédex data in Bank is added to the Pokédex in HOME.

If the Pokémon has a Mega Evolution, another form that can only be used in battle (e.g. Cherrim's Sunshine Form), or a form that requires a held item (e.g. Silvally's alternate forms), the data for these forms is registered when any form of the Pokémon is deposited (this also applies to Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and Arceus, despite these Pokémon not requiring a held item or battle to change forms in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, as they revert to their standard forms upon being deposited into HOME). In order to register the entry for Mega Rayquaza, a Rayquaza must be deposited knowing the move Dragon Ascent. Registering a Pokémon's Gigantamax form requires depositing the Pokémon with the Gigantamax Factor.

If a Pokémon has a form that requires combining two Pokémon (i.e. Kyurem, Necrozma, or Calyrex), the entry for that form is registered when both Pokémon that make up that form are registered. Registering Dusk Mane or Dawn Wings Necrozma will also register Ultra Necrozma.

Alcremie's forms uniquely do not all need to be registered individually; instead, depositing an Alcremie registers all the forms with the cream type that was deposited, regardless of its sweet type.

If a Pokémon with a gender difference is deposited, both genders are registered, except in the case of Shiny Pokémon. Depositing a Shiny Pokémon will register both the Shiny and regular entries for that species and form, and unlike non-Shiny Pokémon in the mobile version, depositing a Shiny Pokémon with a gender difference will register the Shiny entry only for that gender.

Depositing a Pokémon with a foreign language of origin unlocks that language's Pokédex entry for all forms of that species that have been registered.

Spiky-eared Pichu, partner Pikachu and Eevee, all Cosplay Pikachu forms, all Totem-sized Pokémon, Revavroom's Starmobile forms, Koraidon and Miraidon's non-battle forms, and Ogerpon's Terastallized forms are not included in the Pokédex as alternate forms.

Moves and Abilities

The mobile version of Pokémon HOME has a section of the Pokédex where moves and Abilities are listed and can be registered. Prior to v2.0.0, moves and Abilities each occupied separate sections of the Pokédex; starting in v2.0.0, to make space for the regional Pokédex section, the move and Ability sections are merged into a single section titled "Others", where the move and Ability lists can be toggled between. The lists are arranged alphabetically. Registering a move or Ability adds a Poké Ball icon next to it.

The list of moves displays the type and category of each move. Tapping a move or Ability in the list allows its description to be seen, taken from the most recent core series game in which it has a description (other than the generic one for unusable moves). It is also possible to search for Pokémon in the player's storage that know the selected move or have the selected Ability, or search for Pokémon in the Pokédex that can have the selected Ability. In v3.0.0, filters were added for each of the Nintendo Switch core series games; selecting any of these filters removes all moves or Abilities that are unusable or not present in that game and changes the descriptions to the ones from that game (though the move category is not changed, leading to the oddity of Double Hit being displayed as a physical move in the list for Pokémon Legends: Arceus), as well as removing the registered icons.

Moves can be registered if a Pokémon that knows the move (in any of its game-specific movesets) is deposited into HOME. The following moves are absent from the list due to the impossibility of registering them legitimately:

• Struggle
• The signature moves of the two partner Pokémon from Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!
• Light of Ruin
• The signature moves of the Starmobiles
• Z-Moves
• Max Moves and G-Max Moves

Abilities can be registered if a Pokémon that has the Ability (in any of its game-specific sets of data) is deposited into HOME. However, they can also be registered by depositing a Pokémon into HOME that would be able to gain the Ability via a form change. For example, depositing a Gengar registers both Cursed Body and Shadow Tag, the former being its own Ability and the latter being attainable via Mega Evolution. This only applies if the alternate form has also been registered in the Pokédex (for example, Neuroforce can only be registered if a Necrozma is deposited and either Solgaleo or Lunala has been registered, since this is required in order to register Ultra Necrozma). Embody Aspect is the only Ability that is absent from the list due to being acquired only through the Terastal phenomenon, with the unique Terastallized states of Ogerpon that have it not being considered separate forms in HOME.
