(Japanese: ヒコザル Hikozaru) is a Fire-type Pokémon. Along with Naetle and Pochama, it is one of the three starter Pokémon available at the beginning of the Generation IV games.
Hikozaru comes with the ability Blaze, which increases the power of Fire-type attacks by 50% once the Pokémon has less than one-third of its maximum HP.
Name origin
Hikozaru's name is derived from 火 hi, or fire, 子 ko, or child, and 猿 saru, or monkey. Zaru is used to describe an ape.
Hikozaru appears to be based on a young monkey, although the firey tail mirrors Charmander.
