Glaceon (Japanese: グレイシア Glacia) is an Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves from Eevee via level-up near Ice Rock.

Biology

Physiology

Glaceon is a fox-like creature covered in light-blue fur. The fur is actually frozen into sharp quills, but one can't really tell by just looking. Glaceon appears to be wearing a sherpa cap on its head. Glaceon's ears, two spots on its back, tail end and cap-endings are all rhombus-shaped.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Glaceon can use any attack that Eevee knows with the addition of Template:Type2 attacks. As a fully evolved Pokémon, Glaceon can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.

Behavior

Habitat

An Eevee which lives in a snowy climate will likely become a Glaceon.

In the anime

A statue of Glaceon could be seen in The Rise of Darkrai.

May returns with her own Glaceon in A Full Course Tag Battle! She later uses it to battle Dawn's Piplup in the final Wallace Cup battle in Strategy With A Smile!

A Glaceon has a cameo in DP092 under the ownership of a trainer bearing a strong resemblence to Pietra.

Trivia

  • Coincidentally, Glaceon's Japanese name is the same as a certain Elite Four member's English name.
  • Glaceon is tied with Jolteon for the shortest Eeveelution. Ironically, Leafeon, the other Eeveelution introduced in the same Generation, is one of the tallest.
  • Glaceon and Espeon are the only Eeveelutions that share the same highest base stat. However, Espeon has a higher Speed stat while Glaceon has a higher Defense stat.
  • Glaceon is one of only four pure Template:Type2 Pokémon; the others are Snorunt, Glalie, and Regice.
    • On that note, Glaceon is the only pure Ice-type Pokémon not introduced in Generation III.
  • According to the Diamond and Pearl Pokédex, Glaceon and Leafeon have identical footprints.
  • Many fans believe that Glaceon's face and cry make it, by far, the most feminine of all the Eeveelutions, which is ironic since Eevee has a higher chance of being male.

Origin

Like most Eeveelutions, it has traits of foxes, dogs, and cats.

Name origin

Its name is derived from the French glace, meaning ice, and -eon, the traditional suffix of all Eevee evolutions.

In other languages

  • German: Glaziola - From glazial (glacial). Ends with -a like every Eeveelution in German.
  • French: Givrali - From givre (frost). Ends with -li like every Eeveelution in French.
  • Korean: 글레이시아 Glacia
