Selene (Japanese: ミヅキ Mizuki) is the female player character in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon. Her male counterpart is Elio.

In the games

Selene is a girl who recently moved from the Kanto region to Melemele Island in the Alola region. Early in her adventure, Selene meets the guardian deity of Melemele Island, Tapu Koko, and quickly befriends Lillie, her Cosmog Nebby, and Hau. After receiving a starter Pokémon and Z-RingSM or Z-Power RingUSUM from Melemele's Island Kahuna, Hala, Selene begins her island challenge in earnest.

  • Pre-release media for Pokémon Sun and Moon referred to Selene as "Moon" (Japanese: ムーン Moon, Korean: Moon). The name "Selene" (Japanese: ミヅキ Mizuki, Korean: 미월 Miwol, Chinese: 美月 Měiyuè / Méihyuht) was also used in a pre-release video and later on official merchandise.
  • Pre-release media for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon referred to Selene as "Ailey" (Japanese: コウミ Koumi, Korean: 울트라문 Ultra Moon).
  • Unused internal data refers to Selene as (Japanese: ラナ Lana), Hawaiian for afloat.
  • One of Pokémon Trainer's palette swaps in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a color scheme based on Selene's design in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, specifically one of the darker-skinned appearances.
