Stormfront is the name given to the seventh and final main expansion of the Diamond & Pearl Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. In Japan, it was released as Intense Fight in the Destroyed Sky, the sixth and final expansion in the Pokémon Card Game DP Era. It is based on Diamond and Pearl, featuring Generation IV Pokémon. The English expansion was released on November 5, 2008, while the Japanese expansion was released on July 10, 2008. Intense Fight in the Destroyed Sky was released in anticipation of Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin, the eleventh Pokémon movie which premiered on July 19, 2008, nine days after the release of the expansion. Stormfront is composed of its Japanese equivalent as well as the Giratina vs Dialga Deck Kit.
The Japanese version of the set, Intense Fight in the Destroyed Sky, is based on the eleventh Pokémon Movie, Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin, including such featured Pokémon as Giratina, Dialga, Shaymin, Magnezone and Regigigas. The set, strangely, does not include Palkia, and as such is the first set by The Pokémon Company to include only a partial trio.

The set includes only one new game mechanic, although does also include several new and returning features to the TCG. Firstly, Pokémon of alternate coloration (previously known as Shining Pokémon or Pokémon-star) return to the game, but do not include any special features. There are three of these in the set: Drifloon, Duskull and Voltorb. Their only difference to regular cards is that they have a holofoil effect, even though they are not classified as rare cards.
Stormfront introduced retro cards, cards that were originally released in Base Set, Jungle, and Wizards Black Star Promos, and were updated with new artwork by the same artist, and modernized card layout and card text. They were included as Secret cards. Shiny Pokémon made its return as a subset and were numbered with a SH (SH#). They were also included as Secret cards. The Japanese print featured Starlight Holofoil, while the English print was Reverse Holofoil. The Japanese print of Pokémon LV.X in this expansion featured a Glossy overlay overtop their Cosmos Holofoil.

Another feature is the return of three classic cards from the Base Set: Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard. These cards are almost exactly the same as the original cards, having a special gold tint and the same card text (except for Charizard, which has been updated due to having a now-defunct Pokémon Power). They also have the same artwork redrawn by Mitsuhiro Arita, the original artist.
Japanese prints of all Pokémon card lacked the Pokédex entry due to several of the cards containing too much card text for one to be fit on the card. The English print lacked the Pokédex entry only if the Pokémon had an attached Item or more than three items of text. The standard card numbering system made its return for Japanese expansion and was put in place since.

The new feature to the Trading Card Game introduced in the set called the Lost Zone. The Lost Zone acts as a second discard pile; however, because it is not called a discard pile, cards that use the term cannot collect cards from the area, and thus it is not currently possible to recollect cards that have been sent to the Lost Zone.

Trivia
Set lists
*The only card in the set to include a DPBP# collector number is Shaymin, having never been featured as a Pokémon card before. Its number is DPBP#531.
{| cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="multicol" style="background:transparent; width:100%"
*The set includes Heatran LV.X, continuing a trend in which promotional LV.X cards are reprinted in the set released immediately after their promotional release. This was also the case with Lucario, Garchomp and Porygon-Z.
col-2
*The set also introduces Trainer cards with a + at the end of their name. These Trainer cards have different effects depending on whether the player uses one or two of the same card at a time.

*The set includes the first Pokémon of the DP Series to have a retreat cost of five (Mamoswine).

Information

Stormfront is the name given to the seventh and final main expansion of the Diamond & Pearl Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. In Japan, it was released as Intense Fight in the Destroyed Sky, the sixth and final expansion in the Pokémon Card Game DP Era. It is based on Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, featuring Generation IV Pokémon.
