Syrup Bomb (Japanese: みずあめボム Mizuame Bomb) is a damage-dealing Grass-type move introduced in Generation IX. It is the signature move of Dipplin and one of the signature moves of Hydrapple.

Effect

Syrup Bomb inflicts damage and lowers the target's Speed stat by one stage each turn, for the next three turns. It does not affect targets with Bulletproof. If the move's user leaves the field, the effect will end immediately. The game uses a unique animation when the target's Speed stat is lowered.

Description

Games Description
SV The user sets off an explosion of sticky candy syrup, which coats the target and causes the target's Speed stat to drop each turn for three turns.

Bold indicates a Pokémon gains STAB from this move.

Appearance

Syrup Bomb has a different appearance if the user is a Shiny Pokémon, a distinction shared with Mind Blown and Dragon Darts.

Only Shiny Dipplin and Hydrapple will have both the initial attack and the subsequent additional effect use the yellow coloration. In other cases, the coloration differs depending on the user, as it appears to account for the current appearance, Shininess, and species of the user when determining what coloration to use:

  • When used by other Pokémon, by means such as Metronome or Sketch, Syrup Bomb will always have the red coloration, regardless of whether the user is Shiny.
  • When used by a Pokémon, regardless of whether it itself is Shiny or not, that has Transformed into a Shiny Dipplin or Hydrapple, Syrup Bomb will correctly display the yellow coloration for the initial attack, but the additional effect that lowers Speed at the end of each turn will still use the non-Shiny red coloration.
