Sceptile is a reptilian, bipedal Pokémon. Its neck is somewhat long, and it has two crests on its head. It has semicircular, yellow eyes with red rims. Its lower jaw and a belt-like band across its waist are also red. Along its back, it has two lines running down the middle and two rows of yellow nodules that are described as seeds. Its tail is shaped similar to that of a palm tree's branch. Both of its long arms have two sharp, elongated leaves and three claws. In Generation III, Leaf Blade was its signature move.
Sceptile's appearance is based on a lizard. Sceptile’s neck is somewhat long, and it has two crests on its head. Its eyes are semicircular with yellow scleras and red rims. Sceptile’s lower jaw is also colored red, and there is a belt-like band of red coloration on its waist. There is a thin stripe across Sceptile’s chest, somewhat resembling the shape of the letter V. Sceptile’s plant-like characteristics include the six yellow nodules, described as "seeds" on its back (similar in appearance to the nodules on Legume that are able to take in nitrogen from the air) and a palm-tree-branch-like tail. Sceptile’s arms are long and have two sharp, elongated leaves and three claws on each. It has two lines running down the middle of its back

Gender differences
Sceptile is a List of Pokémon by habitat Pokémon. It has no equals in jungle combat. The seeds on its back contain nutrients, which are said to be able to revitalize trees. It is capable of leaping freely from branch to branch. While it has the ability to slice down thick trees, it is known to care lovingly for the plants in the forest. This Pokémon regulates its body temperature by basking in the sunlight.
None.

Special abilities
Forms
Sceptile's signature move in Generation III was Leaf Blade. It is a move known by wild and captive Sceptile alike, learned by Sceptile and Grovyle by practicing "Forest Combat." The leaves are sharp as swords and can even slice down thick trees. Also, being a Grass Pokémon with beneficial plant parts, it can perfect moves such as SolarBeam and Synthesis, and as it is a Pokémon with dragon-like characteristics, it can learn Dragon moves like Dragon Pulse, Dragon Claw, and DragonBreath. The seeds growing on Sceptile's back are said to be bursting with nutrients that can revitalize trees. When in forests and jungles where it can freely leap from branch to branch, its power is equal to none.
Sceptile can Mega Evolve into Mega Sceptile.

Behavior
As Mega Sceptile, its head crests become more pointed with a round portion missing from the middle. Red marking surrounds its eyes, which become smaller and more narrow. The yellow seeds down its back grow larger. The last pair of seeds turn red, while the pair above it turns orange. Red stripes encircle the base of its tail and run across its lower belly. The leaves on its wrists become more pointed, and the upper ones have red tips and half-circles cut out of the middles. Covering its chest and shoulders are plates of leaves similar to those that form its tail. Mega Sceptile's tail grows longer and develops a red stinger at the tip.
Sceptile is very protective of its environment and the Pokémon that live in it, attacking unwary trainers that wander into its forest. It agilely leaps from tree branches, and has an incredible Speed stat. Sceptile carefully and with loving care grows trees and plants. It regulates its body temperature by basking in sunlight.

Habitat
Mega Sceptile can cut off a portion of its tail to fire it like a missile at an opponent. Its lost tail will continue regenerating as long as it still has the energy required for Mega Evolution.

Diet
Evolution
Pokémon food
Sceptile evolves from Grovyle and is the final form of Treecko.
It uses the sharp leaves on its arms to strike its prey, so it seems to be a carnivore.

In the manga
Like most other starters, Sceptile has made its only notable appearance in possession of Emerald, being picked as his final battling member for his Battle Factory challenge, which it won after a tough fight. Once he deduced it was no rental Pokémon, but one smuggled in by a third party, he took it into his possession and used it to challenge the Battle Pyramid, Battle Arena, Battle Palace, and Battle Dome challenges, in which only the latter its team failed to win, due to Emerald making a last-minute decision to switch out his party of Sceptile, Sudowoodo, and Dusclops feeling that its newly recovered memories and affection for its teammates when under Professor Birch's care would slow it down. It was able to learn the ultimate Grass-type attack Frenzy Plant and help defeat Guile Hideout's giant, fake Kyogre.

Appearance-wise, this Pokémon resembles Dilophosaurus, a dinosaur. The orbs of nutrients on its back may be based on the reproductive spores of fern species or based on the fact that many legume have nitrogen stored in nodes on their roots. The leaves on the tail in combination with the brightly-colored orbs on its back also create a strong resemblance to both the yew and various members of the genus Podocarpus. The Treecko line's appearance and mannerisms are also strongly derived from Uroplatus. Sceptile's green skin and red jaw seem to take inspiration from Anolis carolinensis, whose dewlaps inflate and turn red to show dominance.
The Treecko line's appearance and mannerisms are also strongly derived from Uroplatus.

Its ability to launch its tail while in its Mega Evolved form may be a reference to autotomy, a method of self-defense in which many animals, like reptiles, shed off their own appendages, which they can later regenerate. It may also be a reference to rocket launchers, with its tree-like tail also resembling a rocket.

Name origin
Name origin
Sceptile's name is likely a play on reptile and Sceptridium, as its tail is similar to a fern in appearance, or possibly sectile, referring to the long, sharp blades growing on its body. It may have also come from sceptre, from its title as King of the Forest.
Sceptile may be a combination of sceptre, referring to its status as the "forest king"; scissors, referring to the blades on its wrists; or Sceptridium, a genus of grape-ferns; and reptile.

Jukain may be based on 樹海 jukai, abundant leafage.

Sceptile (Japanese: ジュカイン Jukain) is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Grovyle starting at level 36. It is the final form of Treecko.

Sceptile can Mega Evolve into Mega Sceptile using the Sceptilite.

Biology

Sceptile climbing a wall

Sceptile is a reptilian, bipedal Pokémon. Its neck is somewhat long, and it has two crests on its head. It has semicircular, yellow eyes with red rims. Its lower jaw and a belt-like band across its waist are also red. Along its back, it has two lines running down the middle and two rows of yellow nodules that are described as seeds. Its tail is shaped similar to that of a palm tree's branch. Both of its long arms have two sharp, elongated leaves and three claws. In Generation III, Leaf Blade was its signature move.

Sceptile is a jungle Pokémon.

Forms

Sceptile can Mega Evolve into Mega Sceptile.

Mega Sceptile can cut off a portion of its tail to fire it like a missile at an opponent. Its lost tail will continue regenerating as long as it still has the energy required for Mega Evolution.[1]

Trivia

Origin

Appearance-wise, this Pokémon resembles Dilophosaurus, a dinosaur. The orbs of nutrients on its back may be based on the reproductive spores of fern species or based on the fact that many leguminous plants have nitrogen stored in nodes on their roots. The leaves on the tail in combination with the brightly-colored orbs on its back also create a strong resemblance to both the yew tree and various members of the genus Podocarpus. The Treecko line's appearance and mannerisms are also strongly derived from leaf-tailed geckos. Sceptile's green skin and red jaw seem to take inspiration from male green anoles, whose dewlaps inflate and turn red to show dominance.

Name origin

Sceptile may be a combination of scepter, referring to its status as the "forest king"; scissors, referring to the blades on its wrists; or Sceptridium, a genus of grape-ferns; and reptile.

Jukain may derive from 樹海 jukai (abundant leafage; dense woodland).
