Biomes are a mechanic in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet used to determine what kind of Pokémon can spawn in an area. Each Pokémon can only spawn in specific biomes; its Pokédex entry may give a clue as to what biome or biomes the Pokémon can spawn in.

There are 23 different biomes in total, with a breakdown as follows:

  • Paldea has 19 different biomes.
  • Kitakami has 10 different biomes, including the previously unused Cave Water biome.
  • The Terarium has 14 different biomes, including the previously unused Volcano and Wasteland biome.
