Quaxly (Japanese: クワッス Kuwassu) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.
Along with Sprigatito and Fuecoco, Quaxly is one of three starter Pokémon of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Along with Sprigatito and Fuecoco, it was the first Generation IX Pokémon to be revealed to the public on February 27, 2022, through a Pokémon Presents video presentation.
Biology
Quaxly is a white duckling-like Pokémon. It has a yellow beak and blue eyes. It has teal webbed feet and a large teal crest that covers its head, with a feathery tuft in the front and a white curvy line shaped like a wave.
Quaxly is an earnest and tidy Duckling Pokémon.[1]
Trivia
Origin
Quaxly appears to be based on a young crested duck or swan. The crest itself resembles a beret or a sailor cap. The teal colorations on its feet and crest may be inspired by the blue-footed booby, or a pun on the teal (a type of duck); the latter is supported by the fact that Quaxly's category in Japanese, こがもポケモン Kogamo Pokémon, can both translate to "Duckling Pokémon" or "Teal Pokémon".
Name origin
Quaxly may be derived from quack, aqua, and possibly wax.
Kuwassu may be derived from クワック kuwakku (quack), Wasser (German for water), and possibly wax.
