Inside of Truck

Inside of Truck (Japanese: トラックのなか Inside of Truck), also named as ??? (Japanese: ？？？ ???), is a location in the Pokémon games.

In the core series games

This refers to the truck where the player is at the beginning of their journey in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire.

At the start of those games, the player is in the process of moving from Olivine City, Johto, to Littleroot Town, Hoenn. The Inside of Truck appears as a small area with some boxes, and the player is free to walk inside before leaving it. Once the player leaves the truck, it will not be possible to return to it anymore.

In Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, Inside of Truck is the name (index number 0x54) of this place in the game data. Normally, when the player exits the truck, no place name is displayed. However, in Ruby and Sapphire, if the player saves the game while Inside of Truck, reboots it, then exits the truck, the current location is displayed as Littleroot Town; this does not occur in Emerald.

In a new game, the player is seen inside the truck while this vehicle is moving. Once the truck stops, the light from outdoors appears, indicating that the door was opened.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, ??? is the name (index number 0x0114) of this place in the game data.

In the new game cutscene from these games, the player appears inside the moving truck. The camera uses a first-person view at first, and the player's appearance (Brendan or May) is only seen after the choice of playing as a boy or girl.

At first, Professor Birch's introductory speech appears in the Game Boy Advance style like the original Generation III games, which is actually seen on the screen of the player's PokéNav Plus. While the speech continues, the truck keeps moving on a road with grass at both sides, while some Pokémon are on the grass.

Once the player leaves it, the stopped truck is seen headed north, in the direction of the town's exit towards Route 101.

Ruby & Sapphire arc

In Creeping Past Cacnea, Ruby was seen inside the truck, sewing pieces of clothing for his Pokémon and taking care of them, while his mother was driving them to their new home in Littleroot Town. The truck got stuck in the mud, but Ruby's Ralts, Rara, used Confusion from the inside to telekinetically lift it free.

Trivia

• In all games where this truck appears, there are no roads seen in or near Littleroot Town in regular gameplay, despite the truck moving on a road in the new game cutscene from the remakes.
• Presumably, the player must have also used forms of transportation other than the truck in the current trip from Johto to Hoenn, since there is no land connection between those places.
