Corrosion (Japanese: ふしょく Corrosion) is an Ability introduced in Generation VII. It is the signature Ability of Salandit and Salazzle.

Effect

In battle

This Ability effect may be in need of research.
Reason:
- does Corrosion + G-Max Stun Shock still do 50%-50% between paralyze/poison on both Steel and Poison opponents
- user with Corrosion poisoned + Psycho Shift onto Steel/Poison opponent

You can discuss this on the talk page.

Corrosion allows the user to inflict poison on any Pokémon regardless of type, allowing them to poison Poison- and Steel-type Pokémon. However, Steel-type Pokémon are still immune to Poison-type damaging moves, so they can only be poisoned with status moves and moves like Twineedle and Fling. A Steel-type opponent can be poisoned by G-Max Malodor in a Double Battle if the other opponent is targeted and the user's Ability is Corrosion.[1][2]

If a Poison- or Steel-type Pokémon with Corrosion holds a Toxic Orb, it will badly poison itself.

This Ability has no effect on Toxic Spikes. It does not allow the Pokémon with this Ability to poison a Pokémon with Immunity.

If the Pokémon with this Ability uses a move, and that move gets reflected by the target due to Magic Coat or Magic Bounce, the reflected move will not be able to poison Steel- or Poison-type Pokémon. If a Poison- or Steel-type Pokémon with this Ability poisons a target with Synchronize, Synchronize will not be able to affect the Pokémon with this Ability.

If the Pokémon with this Ability uses Magic Coat to reflect a status move that inflicts poison, the reflected move will be able to poison Steel or Poison-type Pokémon.

Outside of battle

Corrosion has no effect outside of battle.
