Official Pokémon Pokédex (ISBN 0439855861) is a Pokémon guidebook about all of the Normal- and Template:Type2 Pokémon introduced up until Generation III. It was written by Tracey West and Katherine Noll and was published by Scholastic in January 2006.

The book contains general information about the strengths and weaknesses of the Normal and Psychic elemental types and profiles each Pokémon of both of these elemental types. The book is organised into two sections: one for Normal-types, and one for Psychic-types.

Within each elemental section, Pokémon are organized roughly by the region they are available in and by evolution family. Each page provides a short paragraph describing each Pokémon as well as details on the pronunciation of each Pokémon's name, their height and weight, how each Pokémon evolves, and their level-up moves.

With the exception of Girafarig, no dual-typed Normal Pokémon are given individual pages. Despite this, these Pokémon are acknowledged in the book: they are listed in a section at the end of the Normal chapter. However, only their picture, name, elemental type, and height/weight are listed. All dual-typed Psychic Pokémon are given individual entries.

At the end of the Normal section, there is information about Petalburg Gym and Team Rocket's Meowth. The end of the Psychic section contains information about James's Chimecho, Mossdeep Gym, and about various Psychic-type Pokémon that have appeared in the anime (such as Mewtwo and Sabrina's Kadabra).

Trivia

  • There are two pages for Girafarig: one in the Normal section and one in the Psychic section. The paragraph describing Girafarig is different on each page, but the rest of the information, including the artwork, is the same.

Errors

  • Deoxys's entry states that it is a dual Steel/Psychic type.
  • Page 101 shows a picture of the Soul Badge when it should be a picture of the Marsh Badge.
