Illuminate (Japanese: はっこう Luminescence) is an ability introduced in Generation III. Six Pokémon can have this ability.

Effect

In battle

Illuminate has no effect during battle.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and the sequel, a Pokémon with Illuminate "blinks" after a turn in which it was damaged. The "blink" summons a hostile Pokémon somewhere on the floor.

Outside of battle

If the Pokémon with Illuminate is leading the party, then the wild Pokémon encounter rate is increased to 200%.
