Paladin Island (Japanese: ガンリュウ島 Ganryū Island) is the seventeenth and last island that Ash and his friends visited during their travels through the Decolore Islands. The island is famous for its lighthouse, where the strongest Trainer of the Unova region and the strongest Trainer of the Sinnoh region battled each other long ago.
As Ash and his friends approached the island by ship, Porter came up to Cilan, informing him that there was a call for him from his brothers Chili and Cress. They were heading for Paladin Island too, as there was a crisis going on at Striaton Gym involving a Trainer called Morana, who crushed both Chili and Cress with her Ice-type Pokémon and wanted to close the Gym.
On the island, Ash and his friends decided to cook a meal, until they were approached by an Abomasnow, who viciously attacked Cilan's Pansage. The Abomasnow was revealed to belong to Morana. At that same moment, Chili and Cress arrived at the scene and explained what happened over at the Striaton Gym to Cilan. With Chili and Cress already having been defeated, Cilan now decided to take his responsibility and take on Morana, to save the Striaton Gym. As Morana originated from Sinnoh, this would mean another battle between a Trainer from Sinnoh and a Trainer from Unova would take place on the island, just like long ago. After a hard-fought battle between Cilan's Pansage and Morana's Abomasnow, Cilan managed to win and saved the Striaton Gym.
Trivia
- Paladin Island shares its Japanese name with an island in Japan.
