Fire Pledge (Japanese: ほのおのちかい Flame Oath) is a damage-dealing Fire move introduced in Generation V. Prior to Generation VII, only Fire first partner Pokémon and their evolutions could learn this move. It is TM144 in Generation IX.

When two allies attempt to use Fire Pledge and either Water Pledge or Grass Pledge on the same turn, the ally moving first will not itself use a move, but instead the ally moving second will use a combined attack with a power of 150 and an additional effect immediately after it:
When two allies attempt to use Fire Pledge and either Water Pledge or Grass Pledge on the same turn, the ally moving first will not itself use a move, but instead the ally moving second will use a combined attack with a power of 150 and an additional effect immediately after it:
* If Fire Pledge and Water Pledge are used in the same turn, the ally moving second will use Water Pledge with a power of 150, and create a rainbow on the user's side of the field for four turns. The rainbow doubles the probability of secondary effects taking place on that side of the field; this effect does not stack with Serene Grace.
* If Fire Pledge and Water Pledge are used in the same turn, the ally moving second will use Water Pledge with a power of 150, and create a rainbow on the user's side of the field for four turns. The rainbow doubles the probability of additional effects taking place for moves used by that side of the field (including the chance of flinching caused by King's Rock and Razor Fang, but not including Secret Power); this effect is cumulative with Serene Grace for chances to cause a stat change or inflict a status, but not for chances to cause flinching. Due to the way certain secondary effects are handled, this can lead to an overflow glitch.
* If Fire Pledge and Grass Pledge are used in the same turn, the ally moving second will use Fire Pledge with a power of 150, and create a sea of fire on the target's side of the field for four turns. The sea of fire damages all non-Fire Pokémon on that side of the field for 1/8 of their maximum HP at the end of each turn; this effect is negated if it is raining.
* If Fire Pledge and Grass Pledge are used in the same turn, the ally moving second will use Fire Pledge with a power of 150, and create a sea of fire on the target's side of the field for four turns. The sea of fire damages all non-Fire Pokémon on that side of the field for 1/8 of their maximum HP at the end of each turn.

If a Pokémon uses one Pledge move and a partner has selected another Pledge move, but none of its partners are able to use their selected Pledge move that turn (e.g. paralysis, Sky Drop, etc.), no move will be executed.
If a Pokémon uses one Pledge move and a partner has selected another Pledge move, but none of its partners are able to use their selected Pledge move that turn (e.g. paralysis, Sky Drop, etc.), no move will be executed.

Fire Pledge is unaffected by a held Gem (and will not consume it).
Fire Pledge is unaffected by a held Fire Gem (and will not consume it). If a combined move is used, it will always receive the same-type attack bonus no matter which Pokémon is the one executing it, or what type the combined move is.

Fire Pledge does not work in Sky Battles.

Generation V
It has a regular power of 50.

Generation VI onwards
Fire Pledge's regular power changed from 50 to 80.

Generation VI
Generation VIII
Fire Pledge's regular power changed from 50 to 80. In addition, Fire Pledge does not work in Sky Battles.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Fire Pledge cannot be selected in a battle.

Fire Pledge deals damage. In Super Mystery Dungeon, when Fire Pledge is used with Water Pledge in an Alliance, the user's party will get the Status condition (Mystery Dungeon) condition for five turns, which increases the probability of secondary effects taking place. When used with Grass Pledge, the enemies in the same room will get the Status condition (Mystery Dungeon) condition, which damages all opponent non-Fire-type Pokémon for five turns.

In Rescue Team DX, Alliances are no longer present. Instead, when Fire Pledge is used with a teammate in a position from which it can use Grass Pledge (that is, also adjacent to the enemy), Fire Pledge's power will be increased and the enemies in the same room will get the Sea of Fire condition, which damages all opponent non-Fire-type Pokémon for five turns. 1 PP of Grass Pledge will also be used (and the teammate with Grass Pledge can still make another move on that turn). Fire Pledge's effect with Water Pledge will only activate when Water Pledge is used.

Fire Pledge (Japanese: ほのおのちかい Flame Oath) is a damage-dealing Fire-type move introduced in Generation V. Prior to Generation VII, only Fire-type first partner Pokémon and their evolutions could learn this move. It is TM144 in Generation IX.

Effect

This move effect may be in need of research.
Reason: Does it work in tera raid battles?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

Fire Pledge inflicts damage.

When two allies attempt to use Fire Pledge and either Water Pledge or Grass Pledge on the same turn, the ally moving first will not itself use a move, but instead the ally moving second will use a combined attack with a power of 150 and an additional effect immediately after it:

 • If Fire Pledge and Water Pledge are used in the same turn, the ally moving second will use Water Pledge with a power of 150, and create a rainbow on the user's side of the field for four turns.
 • If Fire Pledge and Grass Pledge are used in the same turn, the ally moving second will use Fire Pledge with a power of 150, and create a sea of fire on the target's side of the field for four turns. The sea of fire damages all non-Fire-type Pokémon on that side of the field for 1/8 of their maximum HP at the end of each turn.

If a Pokémon uses one Pledge move and a partner has selected another Pledge move, but none of its partners are able to use their selected Pledge move that turn (e.g. paralysis, Sky Drop, etc.), no move will be executed.

Generation VIII

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Fire Pledge cannot be selected in a battle.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series

Fire Pledge deals damage. In Super Mystery Dungeon, when Fire Pledge is used with Water Pledge in an Alliance, the user's party will get the rainbow condition for five turns, which increases the probability of secondary effects taking place. When used with Grass Pledge, the enemies in the same room will get the sea of fire condition, which damages all opponent non-Fire-type Pokémon for five turns.
