Release information

This card was included in the Battle Styles expansion with artwork by You Iribi, first released in the Japanese Single Strike Master expansion. It was reprinted as a Cosmos Holofoil SWSH Black Star Promo with different artwork by Eri Yamaki and was available in the Fusion Strike Single Pack Blisters from November 12, 2021. In Japan, this print was one of seven S-P Promotional cards available in Pokémon Card Gym Promo Card Pack 5, which was intended to be distributed at Pokémon Card Gym venues throughout January, February, and March 2021; however, all official events were postponed from January 12, 2021 due to the continued effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.[1] Events officially resumed on March 27, 2021,[2] though were postponed again in the prefectures of Tokyo, Osaka, Hyogo, and Kyoto from April 29[3] due to the imposition of states of emergency. These were set to end on May 11 but were extended to May 31 when emergencies were also declared in the prefectures of Aichi, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Hokkaido, Okayama, and Okinawa. Events in Okinawa were set to resume after June 20 but were put on hold again up to September 12 following numerous extensions to its state of emergency.[4] The Japanese print is Non Holofoil and features the Pokémon Card Gym logo.

Trivia

The two prints are among numerous cards to feature illustrations that form a narrative. In the Battle Styles print, the Tepig is training with a Pignite. In the SWSH Promotional print, the two have finished training. The Pignite is fast asleep while the Tepig contently looks up into the sky.
