Release date

Should we note the time it became available on the release date? In Australia, it was released at 15:00 AEDT, which is around 2 hours after solar noon and is New York's currnet midnight, as well as more than halfway through the day, and after lunchtime. I don't see why. We don't do it for any other game, not even Pokemon Go, which had vastly more hype about exact release dates/times. Frankly, in a year (or a month, or a week... or, honestly, two days), nobody will care anymore what time of day it was released. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 04:12, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Time sensitive people/items?

Should we add in the locations of the Time Sensitive people around town (ie: the cop on the warf, the guy with the Pikachu in the visitor center, ect.), so that we can help others remember where they are? (Arcalargo (talk) 15:29, 19 October 2016 (UTC))

This was researched by suloku on #smdemo on I'm not sure what to make of the bartender in the pokemon centre that tells you someone will come back in "about a month". Mid-kid (talk) 19:03, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
I think the bartender is referring to the release of Sun and Moon, rather than a time-sensitive event, as the cafe would be open in the main games Skyarrow (talk) 10:58, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Blacking out

I intentionally blacked out against wild Pokémon in the demo and got sent back to the Pokémon Center, but I had healed there before. What happens if you have never healed there before? If you lose to the Team Skull Grunt at the start of the demo, you would have never even been to the Pokémon Center before.

Additionally, what if you lost to Plumeria after defeating the Totem Hakamo-o? Would you have to battle the Totem Hakamo-o again? --SnorlaxMonster 08:40, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

It's very difficult to lose to the Grunt. The only way you can stall is by using Double Team, which just makes it harder for him to hit you, and you can only stall 15 times. I haven't done the math, but the only attack he really uses (Bite) doesn't do a lot of damage (between being resisted and him being like 10 levels below you), so it's hard if not impossible for him to make you faint.
If you lose to Plumeria, the game still moves forward basically exactly the same. (The dialogue seemed exactly the same as much as I checked.) You don't actually lose any money, either. Tiddlywinks (talk) 10:18, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
Worth noting that you do lose money if you black out against a wild Pokémon. $320 both times I did it, IIRC. (One against a random wild Pokémon, one against Totem Hakamo-o.) You can actually see your money by looking at the Bag. Yeah, losing works like if you've had 0 Badges in previous games. (Against Trainers too.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 10:30, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
Oh man, yeah, one Bite from the Grunt's Yungoos just did 5 damage, out of Greninja's 105 total. So 25 Bites to beat me if that's all it does. Of course it has Leer too and it could get criticals. But in total the chances are still way in your favor. If you stalled Yungoos for 6 turns and it used (and hit) Leer each time, it'd have a max damage of about 22 (3x for lowered damage, 1.5x for crit), which would then require at least 5 more hits to beat you (7 without the crits)--but again, you can only stall with Double Team, so the chances of Yungoos only missing at most 4 times (and getting 5 crits; or else only missing twice) are very small. I only started the demo on the 20th October, and Lillie appeared in my game. Could be that she would appear on a Friday? — Ruixiang95 13:26, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

New event

I just got to eat a Big Malasada with Hal. As far as my game is concerned, I run my 3DS on UTC +11, and I started and saved on the first available day (This is just after the beginning midnight on the 5th day, a Sunday. Hal mentioned the day of the week and said that I could participate in another adventure tomorrow. He also mentioned it getting late, and appeared for this event outside the Malasada shop, but only at night(got day, restarted to night, then it happened) (event did not save game, nor did 5 days event, so I saved by visiting the mysterious old man again). Can confirm this. I ate a Big Malasada with him too, and I want to mention to everyone that the event automatically begins when you approach the malasada shop. Also, PartHunter, did you notice what the girl in the bottom-left corner of town's countdown reward was? For me, it was a Machamp cutscene. I'm at least 1,000,000% sure that the Pokémon Company hit us with an Unexpected John Cena meme Blootannery (talk) 04:41, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Day Count Not Working

So... apparently, there's a few people having problems with the day cycle not working correctly. Some people have gotten stuck on Day 1 while others have gotten stuck a little further along. I myself am stuck at a point where the policeman tells me there's "something shady is going down" in 6 days.

Is there a definitive fix for this, other than nuking your data and starting over (which is the solution I saw). I'd rather not have to do that, but if I'm a whopping week behind everyone else, well... (I was originally just 1 day behind, which I was fine with.)

In addition, the day/night cycle doesn't seem to work... but I assumed that was intentional, as to give players the experience of playing during the day or during the night without actually having to wait. I think the ORAS demo did something like that, too... but I might be mis-remembering.

Same happened to me, but it added three days to both my remaining NPCs (the policeman and the girl going on the ferry), and now the count won't go back down again. It only happened after I turned my 3DS clock back an hour for daylight savings... Maybe that has something to do with it?

Yeah... In almost all the cases I read about, changing the 3DS clock is what made the demo "break".
As a matter of fact, I read somewhere that the demo is coded to with a counter-measure for people who want to skip ahead to trigger events early. If I had to guess, the counter-measure keeps the last day you played the game in the save file and if it detects any unusual changes in the date, or apparently time, it rolls the demo back to the last day the game was played.
That being said, it's extremely frustrating to know that Nintendo didn't plan for Daylight Saving Time. I mean, I know Japan has never observed Daylight Saving Time, but c'mon, Nintendo... that's pretty darn short-sighted of you.

If you want to save, just visit the mysterious old man again. Every time you visit him, the game saves. Once you do this, the count will resume. This measure and how it works has been in place since Diamond and Pearl, which started use of an external clock (and got one with a way to detect the change), and visiting the old man is the only way to save to make it resume. You may have an additional day beyond this added, as some games delay all events or some events based on number of days by 24 hours, then till midnight (like Join Avenue's fans). If this does not work, contact Pokemon Support and ask them how to fix this. If there is no solution from them, I can't help you. I don't have much experience changing my system clock, because I don't even adjust mine for daylight savings to avoid interrupting time-based events (but, since I got it when daylight savings was on, it applies inaccurately outside of it. I just mentally adjust the time when I read the system clock outside of daylight savings.) PartHunter (talk) 10:33, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
The demo also saves right when you load it, so unless you're actually *doing* something in the game that you want saved for whatever reason, you wouldn't need to go out to Mahalo Trail to save. Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:11, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
