Release information

This card was included in the Jungle expansion with artwork by Kagemaru Himeno, first released in the Japanese Pokémon Jungle expansion. In Japan, it was reprinted with different artwork by the same artist as a Glossy Promotional card for the first volume of the manga series, How I Became a Pokémon Card released in May 1999. This print has a symbol of an open book where an expansion symbol normally would be and is the only one of the six Natta Wake released promotional cards to be Glossy: the other five are Non Glossy cards.

Trivia

The Japanese promotional version is commonly known as Natta Wake Mankey in reference to the manga book in which it was distributed.

Origin

Scratch is a move in the Pokémon games that Mankey can learn. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, though it is slightly reworded. The Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
