(Japanese: ギプナ Guipna) is an anime-exclusive location in the Pokémon world. It was mentioned in The Bonds of Evolution!. Professor Sycamore described it as "one of the last unexplored regions in the world." Found in Guipna are the Guipna Highlands.

Diantha was filming a movie in the Guipna Highlands when a thick fog rose and she got lost from her crew. She had entrusted her manager Cathy Lee with her Gardevoir. As Diantha's crew went searching for her, Gardevoir came out of its Poké Ball. By connecting its heart with Diantha's, it was able to guide the crew to Diantha's location.

Name origin

ギプナ Guipna is derived from Guyana, or more generally The Guianas. Specifically, the Guipna Highlands are a reference to the Guiana Highlands, which are the higher parts of the Guiana Shield.

Trivia

  • Guyana was first referenced in one of the Pokémon Mansion journals in the Generation I games; Mew was said to have been found in the Guyana jungle. However, the Pokémon anime did not reference Guyana in relation to Mew; its fossil was only said to have been found in an unnamed South American jungle. It is unknown if Guipna is related to this.
