Biology
Biology
Physiology
Pidgeotto is a birdof prey-like bird Pokémon. It is covered with brown feathers, has a cream-colored face, underside, and flight feathers. It has a crest of pinkish-red feathers on its head and black, angular markings behind its black eyes. The plumage of its tail has alternating red and yellow feathers with ragged tips. Pidgeotto's beak and legs are pink. Two of its toes point forward, while one points backward. Additionally, it has powerful, sharp talons that it uses to grasp prey.
Pidgeotto is a large raptor-like List of Pokémon by body style. While its primary color is brown, its plumage is much more elaborate than its pre-evolution, Pidgey. Its head-crest is much longer than Pidgey's and is a reddish color. The plumage of its tail is also quite colorful, alternating between red and yellow. Other than its ornamental plumage, its basic coloration is similar to Pidgey, with pinkish-gray feet and black markings around its eyes. Pidgeotto has powerful talons to grasp prey so these claws can inflict a lot of damage.

Gender differences
Pidgeotto is a powerful flier capable of carrying prey several miles to its nest. It has amazing vision, which helps it locate preferred prey Pokémon such as Exeggcute and Magikarp. The Pokémon the Series episode Ash Catches a Pokémon depicts it preying on Caterpie. Pidgeotto claims a sprawling territory of more than 60 miles (100 kilometers), which it defends fiercely. Its nest is usually in the center of its territory and it circles its territory throughout the day, looking out for food and intruders. It is most often found in List of Pokémon by habitat.
None.

Special abilities
In Generation III, Feather Dance was its signature move, but other Pokémon could still inherit it via breeding.
As well as being a powerful flier, it is capable of carrying prey several miles to its nest. Pidgeotto have an amazing sense of sight and hearing. Its eyesight is so good that it can spot a Caterpie from several miles up in the air.

Behavior
Evolution
After evolution, Pidgeotto assumes a predatory niche. It claims a sprawling territory (more than 60 miles) and fiercely defends it from intruders. One must be careful when moving through the territory of a Pidgeotto; while there is no evidence that they would attack a human, their sharp claws could cause a lot of damage. Although its nest is usually in the center of its territory, it circles its territory throughout the day, looking out for prey and intruders.
Pidgeotto evolves from Pidgey and evolves into Pidgeot.

Habitat
(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data&rarr;Evolution data.)

<div style="float:center; display:flex; flex-flow:row wrap;">
Pidgeotto typically dwell in forests with thick growth and large trees. They need a lot of space, and are very territorial, so it can be assumed that their territories usually do not overlap. They are most common in Kanto and Johto.

NPC appearances
Pidgeotto, although omnivorous like most Pokémon, appears to prefer preying on other Pokémon such as Exeggcute. Both the anime and Pokémon Adventures have shown it attempting to eat a main character's Caterpie. Pidgeotto are known to prey on Magikarp by catching them in mid-jump.
* Pokémon: Magikarp Jump: A Pidgeotto may appear as part of several Pokémon: Magikarp Jump, where it will carry away the player's Magikarp when it jumps (and thereby force it to retire). Several Pidgeotto are also seen flying in the background of Magikarp's 100m and higher jumps.

Origin
Origin
Despite its name, its design appears to be less of a pigeon and more of an osprey or other bird of prey.
Despite its name, Pidgeotto does not resemble a pigeon so much as a bird of prey such as an osprey or an Aquila (genus) due to its large size and predatory behavior. It also shares some characteristics with various passerine birds such as Old World sparrows, chickadees, waxwings, and wrens. Its red crest (feathers) is somewhat similar to the crests of cockatoos. The black markings around its eyes are reminiscent of Ra and Horus, the sun and sky gods of Egyptian mythology who were depicted with the heads of falcons.

Name origin
Name origin
Pidgeotto is a corruption of dove. Its name may also refer to Otto Lilienthal, a pioneer of unpowered heavier-than-air flight.
Pidgeotto may be a combination of Columbidae and the Italian diminutive suffix -otto. It is also very similar to the romanized spelling of Pidgeot's Japanese name, ピジョット pijotto.

Pigeon is literally pigeon.

Pidgeotto (Japanese: ピジョン Pigeon) is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation I.

It evolves from Pidgey starting at level 18 and evolves into Pidgeot starting at level 36.

Biology

Pidgeotto is a raptor-like avian Pokémon.

It is most often found in temperate forests.

In Generation III, Feather Dance was its signature move, but other Pokémon could still inherit it via breeding.

Evolution

Pidgeotto evolves from Pidgey and evolves into Pidgeot.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

NPC appearances

 • Pokémon: Magikarp Jump: A Pidgeotto may appear as part of several events, where it will carry away the player's Magikarp when it jumps (and thereby force it to retire). Several Pidgeotto are also seen flying in the background of Magikarp's 100m and higher jumps.

Trivia

 • Pidgeotto is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 349.
 • Pidgeotto's early English name was the same as its evolved form Pidgeot.
 • In some games, the Pokédex states that Pidgeotto "will fiercely peck at any intruder". However, Pidgeotto is unable to learn Peck.

Origin

Despite its name, Pidgeotto does not resemble a pigeon so much as a bird of prey such as an osprey or an eagle due to its large size and predatory behavior. It also shares some characteristics with various passerine birds such as sparrows, chickadees, waxwings, and wrens. Its red crest is somewhat similar to the crests of cockatoos. The black markings around its eyes are reminiscent of Ra and Horus, the sun and sky gods of Egyptian mythology who were depicted with the heads of falcons.

Name origin

Pidgeotto may be a combination of pigeon and the Italian diminutive suffix -otto. It is also very similar to the romanized spelling of Pidgeot's Japanese name, ピジョット pijotto.

Pigeon is literally pigeon.
