==Biology==
===Physiology===
Croagunk is a dark ultramarine-blue, bipedal {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} that resembles a poison dart frog. It has yellow eyes, which are surrounded by black markings. There are orange, expandable pouches on its cheeks, and its teeth are wide and flat. A black marking encircles its upper arms and chest, and there are white bands around its chest. The white markings are slightly higher up on the female Croagunk than the male. It has three fingers and toes, most of which are black. The only digits that are not black are its center fingers, which are orange instead.
Croagunk resembles a dark blue bipedal frog, with white bands around its waist area that resemble bandages and red and black markings on its hands and feet. Its coloring and poisonous nature suggest that it is based on poison dart frogs. The markings on its body make it look like a {{wp|Muay Thai}} fighter, and its jutting teeth make it appear to be wearing a mouthguard. The black around its eyes and the white bands make it look like an injured fighter with black eyes and broken ribs. Its orange cheeks are filled with a poison that runs to its fingers, allowing it to {{status|Poison|poison}} opponents by stabbing them.

====Gender differences====
Croagunk's cheek pouches and fingers contain a poisonous fluid. However, the fluid squeezed from its finger is also a significant ingredient in remedies for lower back pain once diluted. The cheek pouches can be used to create an unnerving sound. When its opponents are distracted, it tries to stab them with its fingers. Despite this, it fights others only to ensure its own survival. Croagunk is a popular Pokémon due to being chosen as a mascot for a pharmaceutical company. It is also popular thanks to its strange cry and comical look. Croagunk and its evolved form, Toxicroak, are related to {{p|Seismitoad}}. Croagunk is said to have a dastardly nature, due to wielding poison. It usually lives in swamps and forested areas.
The two white stripes that run across the female Croagunk's abdomen will be higher up than the male.

===Special abilities===
===Evolution===
Whenever its middle finger glows purple, it appears to be channeling its poison via its skin and onto its hand to use its {{t|Poison}} moves. Fluid squeezed from its finger, although poisonous, is a significant ingredient in remedies for lower-back pain.
Croagunk evolves into {{p|Toxicroak}}.

Croagunk (Japanese: グレッグル Gureggru) is a dual-type Poison/Fighting Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves into Toxicroak starting at level 37.

Biology

Croagunk is a dark ultramarine-blue, bipedal Pokémon that resembles a poison dart frog.

Croagunk and its evolved form, Toxicroak, are related to Seismitoad. Croagunk is said to have a dastardly nature, due to wielding poison. It usually lives in swamps and forested areas.

Trivia

  • Croagunk was designed by Takao Unno.[1]
  • Croagunk's English name, along with numerous others, was released on February 13, 2007. Due to the poor quality of the image, it was believed its name was "Croalurk".
  • Croagunk is one of few Pokémon to have its handheld game sprite differ from its 3-D image. While in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum it is shown to have pink cheeks, its 3-D models, official artwork, and anime appearance show it with yellow-orange cheeks.
  • Croagunk is the mascot of Pastoria City.
    • In Platinum, in front of the Pastoria Great Marsh, if the player stands behind the Croagunk Wall, with their head sticking out of it, a wild Croagunk may come by, cry out, and then walk to the Great Marsh.
    • In the Pastoria City Poké Mart, a wooden Croagunk statue can be seen on the counter. If interacted with, it will mention how "Even though it's made of wood, it still seems like it's seeping poison..."
  • In Pokkén Tournament DX, Croagunk is the only playable character that is also a support Pokémon.

Origin

Croagunk may have been based on the poison dart frog. The white markings around its midsection resemble sarashi, with the differing placement between male and female Croagunk corresponding to different styles worn by men and women.

Name origin

Croagunk may be a combination of croak and gunk (grime).

Gureggru may be a combination of グレる gureru (to turn delinquent) and げろげろ gerogero (onomatopoeia for a frog's croaking; exclamation of disgust).
