Welcome to Bulbapedia, G50!
Bulbapedia bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

English names

Hey there, thanks for your recent work on episode synopses. I just wanted to remind you, however, to please make sure to always use English names where they are applicable. Even if the episode has only aired in Japan, the synopsis should still use English names. Thanks again. :) Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 15:08, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm sorry about using a few Japanese names by mistake. I was getting a few names mixed up and didn't realize it until they were edited. I will make sure to use only English names where applicable. G50 21:56, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm guilty of it myself. I've written synopses before and ended up using "Pokabu" a few times instead of "Tepig". Accidents happen. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 22:16, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Signing

Please remember to always sign your comments. You can sign your comments with 4 tildes (~) or clicking the signature stamp (button_sig.png) on the top of the edit box. Thank you for taking your time to read this message, have a good day. --ForceFire 09:01, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Also, you can sign after you've forgotten to as it gives off the wrong timestamp.--ForceFire 09:06, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
I will make sure to remember to sign the comments. I'm sorry about forgetting a few times. G50 12:07, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
You should also link your signature to your talk page.I had a tough time contacting you.Like this:-Shravs (Nuvema Gym) 06:53, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Also, as per the Signature policy, your signature is supposed to resemble your username. I don't understand Korean, but Google Translate indicates that your signature is not related to your username. When using foreign languages, it is better if your signature is a direct translation of your username. --SnorlaxMonster 13:57, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Okay. G 50 14:11, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Link templates and other stuff to consider

Just a tip, you don't need to add "attack" after a move. Also, make sure you use the correct link templates. Use {{type}} instead of {{t}}-type if you want to type in "<type>-type" (Like this: {{type|Grass}} should come out as Grass-type). For a full list, go here.--ForceFire 12:50, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Okay, I will remember to do that. G50 12:55, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Re: Welcome

Thanks for the welcome! I have a small question though. I have a bit of experience with the Pokemon game engine and would it be suitable to add in 'cheated/modified' alterations of Pokémon that allow it to do special things in Trivia, or whatnot. In example, if I find that teaching a MAGIKARP 'Giga Impact' via the forms of cheating would make it evolve into GYARADOS. Would this be acceptable? Thanks, R0cketor 11:56, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Congratulations!!

Dude you're extraordinary! I mean those synopsis are just perfect! I couldn't hold myself from telling you this. I too completed about 15 before but you my friend, you have what I lack and that is patience and of course a better utterance*. You do them in the same way as you breath*. Keep up the good work !----DJWolfy 22:28, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Editing episode pages

Please do not edit episode pages while the episode is still airing. Please save all edits until the episode has finished. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 12:47, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Okay, I'm sorry about that. 태권도 합기도 12:51, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Future episode moves

You are adding the moves improperly in many ways, even so that the pages become very messed up. Here's an example how they should be added.--Den Zen 11:45, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

On the one I just did (prior to the minor edit), when I tried to have Heatmor not be hidden, it came out wrong. What did I do wrong? 태권도 합기도 12:08, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
You didn't change Heatran's section from btm to mid.--ForceFire 12:12, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
Okay, thank you. 태권도 합기도 12:15, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Drill Run

What's wrong with my add on Drill Run, could you please give me the reason of removing it? Nickvang 16:35, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

I thought it wasn't notable. You could ask an Administrator if it is notable, since I could be wrong. G50 21:38, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Forums

In relation to some of the edits you made recently, please try not to be influenced by forum speculation when editing. People there throw out random ideas all the time and should not be taken too seriously. If you are unsure, ask me. Thanks. --ケンジガール 22:30, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Okay, no problem. G50 01:41, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Vending Machine cards

With regards to the Vending Machine cards you have edited recently, you could bring these up to the same standard as the ones I am currently working on instead of just updating the new card name. These are just minor changes, mostly updating the Japanese set name at the top, the infobox and in category links, as well as noting if any of the cards are in other sets, such as the Quick Starter Gift Set. Have a look at some from Expansion Sheet 1 if you're stumped, or give me a holler. Thanks ~~nuva-kal 18:28, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Okay. G50 18:39, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

type

Please read this discussion about types.----DJWolfy 01:34, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

My bad, I misinterpreted what was being said. G50 01:35, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Off-topic, what happened with the synopsis ? You did an excellent job as I mentioned before but suddenly stopped writing. ----DJWolfy 01:39, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
I should be doing them again soon. I've just been really busy recently. G50 01:42, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Most exquisite. Good luck! ----DJWolfy 01:47, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Spambots

Rather than confusingly creating a talk page for them with nothing but a delete template, please report them directly to an active administrator. --SnorlaxMonster 15:32, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Okay, I understand. G50 15:34, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Heya.

Hey, I'm new here. You probably won't see much of me, but I'll help out when I can. ZeypherMage7 08:41, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Templates

Here's the thing, some templates are heavily used across the site, so editing them causes a lot of server strain. So when we edit those templates, we have to be sure to only edit it once; so all the edits have to be perfect and final. You did not ask if you could edit Template:Sidegame, not to mention I already have one in the works. So yeah, don't do that again without asking, or even testing first. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 04:04, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

I understand. I'm very sorry for doing that without permission. G50 04:09, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

...what is that?

From an Old Man on the 25th Floor of the building near the Pokémon Center; From a man on the 23rd Floor of the green and gray building just west of the water; From a Butler on the 23rd Floor of the building just east of the water - What is that supposed to be? That's a very bad wording. While the one with Pokémon Center isn't that bad... the second and third one I could just delete, as there is no clue whatsoever where are these buildings. Please, make it more precise. What you wrote should be in the location's article the item is found (look at Leftovers on the page, I just wrote Castelia Sewers as it is where they're found. The description of more precise location is in location's article). Marked +-+-+ (talk) 08:07, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Okay. G50 08:25, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Now it's fine. Honestly, I had no idea about their location until now.Marked +-+-+ (talk) 08:46, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
I have a couple of tips for writing about item locations. I wouldn't post them if the issue been resolved, but I already typed them when Marked said it was okay. So I'm going to post them anyway. XD Try not to say just 'east' or 'west'. Northeast, southeast, and such are more helpful if possible. Try using the other land marks in the city, too. Like the market and the gym. For example, the one that mentions the Pokémon Center, is that the building that is directly above the market? If so, that's how I would describe it. "From a Butler on the 25th floor of the building directly above (or north of) the market." That's really the only one where I can guess where you might mean. I hope this helps you. Crystal Talian 08:57, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Talk:Tetsu

Can you help to create the actual article? Gspbeetle (talk) 14:36, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

...what.

Do you actually play the games? What you put under Challenge Mode on Undella Town was a team from Normal Mode. I know, as yesterday (or two days ago) I fought that team on Normal Mode (I don't have CM unlocked anyway, only Assist Mode) on White2. Now we're missing pre-Champion Challenge Mode anyway. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 07:31, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

I was using a walkthrough that said they were using Challenge Mode. This might mean that Driftveil City is wrong too. ._. G50 07:41, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, I misunderstood what you were referring to. I should have double-checked what Mode it was instead of assuming it was also Challenge Mode. I saw different levels and pokedollar reward and thought they were different games instead of two different modes. G50 09:20, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Pokemon Conquest evolutions

What do you mean by challenge battles? I just evolved my Dusclops into Dusknoir by beating a regular old silver warrior. --It's Funktastic~! (talk) 03:56, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

I've tried evolving the Pokémon in regular battles (where there are both wild Pokémon and warriors' Pokémon to battle), but it hasn't worked for me, but when I used them in Challenge Battles (where you are challenging a Kingdom or vice-versa), they evolved. (link % was correct, item was correct for trying evolution in both cases) G50 04:17, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm 100% sure that Dusclops evolved when fighting a regular battle where it defeated the warrior's Pokemon, because I waited to face the next kingdom until it evolved. That's odd. --It's Funktastic~! (talk) 04:20, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Just tested it again. It works with regular battles, provided the Pokemon you want to evolve is the one who defeats the Warrior's Pokemon.--It's Funktastic~! (talk) 05:06, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
I just tested it three times with Dusclops, it still won't evolve in regular battles... I tried the method you just mentioned, but same result. Maybe it's just my game... G50 05:10, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Your Today in History edit

Could you please tell me what was wrong with my revision so that you did this edit? It's because tought it was not related with Pokémon, things like Christmas are also listed.TheOriginalOne 20:18, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

I was told to undo that edit by an administrator. G50 01:40, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
"Today in history" should be limited to Pokemon related events, in my opinion. That's why I am not sure about the boxing day, and similar events. I know that they are supposed to be 'special' occasions but I just don't like the idea of noting such things in general when the article clearly says that "This page details selected events in the Pokémon franchise history.". I think I will have to talk to the other staff members about it. When we have a unanimous decision, it will be either re-added or the other ones will be removed for consistency. Mangnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth dungeons

Thanks for letting me know. sell3, sellnotes3, and buy3 have been inputed into the template. G50 10:53, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Anything else I can do to help?

Hello. This is Lugiafanatic from the forums. I recovered my account! Yay! :P In the FAQ, it says I should expand the stubs, and so on. But those are all things on obscure, 10-year old events, TCG, and so on. And I, unfortunately know nothing about those things. Is there anything else I can do! Sorry to keep bothering you.... --Eastern (talk) 02:26, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

You can have a look through Articles that need improvement, and Articles needing more information to see what you can help out with. You can also help out with lists including Pokémon, moves, anime, locations, as well as other articles. You may ask questions at any time, it's not a bother. G50 04:11, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
I was referring specifically to templates and stuff--do you guys need any help with that? --Eastern (talk) 01:23, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Sprites.

Just so you know, I use GIMP (mainly for resizing, as well as fixing any errors of various degree, with help of screenshot capture software); dunno if you would be able to do it. Also, can I have your time machine? Oh, and Emerald's sprites are missing most of the Unowns (especially Shiny Unowns, there's like 2-3 of these guys), why your template says other thing? Marked +-+-+ (talk) 15:36, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

I haven't quite learned how to animate using GIMP yet. I'm still learning how to use most of the program. I'm not sure why I put 0b0 for the Unown, I'll go ahead and fix that. G50 23:34, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
Some stuff done - Crystal Kanto resized (though some still have errors, such as wrong speed or colors are off). Also DPPt Bulbasaur animation reuploaded at correct size. Could you fix these two pages since they are protected? Thanks in advance. PattyMan 02:07, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Technically speaking, the {{red link}} template won't work on file links since they're will link to the Bulbapedia page instead of the Archives. Use [[a:File: instead for that. PattyMan 02:33, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

BW123

Would be alright if I changed the title for all pages linked to it since the title was confirmed by the official Pokémon site? Thanks. — Reshi643 04:36, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

With Cartoon Network, TV-Guides, Toonzone, and the official site all having the same title, I think it would be fine to go ahead and change those. G50 04:46, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Mapless Street

Is this term used in any official media? Yvnr (talk) 15:44, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

It is the term used in the Japanese version of Gates to Infinity. Any remaining pages that have Mapless Street as the name still, should be changed to their English version's name. G50 00:09, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
As far as I can tell, the English version does not use any specific term—if it was that simple, I wouldn't have written you. You're saying that "Mapless Street" "is the term used in the Japanese version", but I can really only guess what you mean by that, so allow me to ask; how is it written(+stylized) and when (game setting-wise) does it appear? To my knowledge, no articles on the site use any other term than "Mapless Street", so the remaining articles you're referring to should include every instance. Yvnr (talk) 12:25, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
I'm going to look into it. Unfortunately most dungeons' Mapless Streets aren't labelled. G50 12:47, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

Anime staff by episode (BW131-BW140)

Would it be alright if I can move this to the mainspace, or should I wait until BW140 is revealed? — Reshi643 05:39, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

It should be fine. G50 05:52, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
I moved the page, thanks. — Reshi643 05:58, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Mega stones

Do you think it is really worth to keep the link to both of the description files on that page? Because the only thing that varies is the sprite of the item itself: should we then just put a description file there and use repeated individual sprites? TheOriginalOne 19:24, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

I think for right now since there are only two, we could keep both of them on the page. When there's more of them, we could change things regarding that. G50 02:00, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Gender article

Per the complaints of one of the people trying to reinstate the fanon on that article (see my user talk page and the article's talk page), I've drafted a new version of the table used in the mono-gender section, if you'd be so kind as to replace it. It'll also need the section's heading changed to note that the table covers all mono-gender Pokémon rather than just the ones not mentioned elsewhere in the article. Thanks! The guidebook I have had a typo regarding Route 8, and yours is correct. It has been changed back. G50 06:29, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks and just so you know I am also the careful type to make sure to confirm information first before posting. I was able to confirm this information before the book arrived anyway which wasn't too hard to do especially since Route 8 was a good training ground I massively used for my X game. -Tyler53841 (talk) 07:12, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Kangaskhan's Rarity

I see you've changed his rarity in x and y from once to very rare, although, from my experience I thought the encounter in the Glittering Cave was fixed, and could only happen once. Have you seen it anywhere else? ThePyrotechnic (talk) 10:49, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

I've seen each Pokémon multiple times in Glittering Cave. To encounter multiples of each, Glittering Cave requires continual entering/re-entering. The guidebook also mentions rarities instead of only one for each Pokémon. G50 10:55, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Animation errors

Sorry for uploading the errors that are not the real one. I think the animators made some mistake here, and we can't figure it out which one is the real. Eyeslashes, lipsticks, eyebrows, pupils and more like this doesn't counts the animation erros at all. But in the other animes, this also have the same as here. I hope you understand my words what I did, and next time I'll upload the real one, not the useless errors. Pikachu65 16:54, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

It's okay. If you are unsure of whether an error is acceptable, it's best to ask a staff member first from now on. G50 16:59, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
Okay. Pikachu65 10:39, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
Which one of a staff member should I talk? I still believe that the women's eyeslashes errors and disappearing are true no matter how many of these we're looking for. And I do believe that the women's lipsticks disappearing are also true since no one didn't accept it. It's the animators' fault they do so many mistakes in the anime, though. Better talk to staff member first before this case will be solved. Pikachu65 13:37, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
Kogoro would be a good idea to ask, or you can also ask Kenji-girl since she is the Anime Project Leader. G50 13:56, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

The anime picture

G50, do we allow to have Pokémon anime pictures with more than one Pokémon or just one on the Pokémon pages on their anime sections? --Cinday123 (Talk) 10:50, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Images can be either a single shot or a group picture, as long as the best quality image for that Pokémon is being used. G50 11:03, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
So how many Pokémon should be included as a maximum number? --Cinday123 (Talk) 11:05, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

So are we allowed to have a picture of two Pokémon in the anime in a Pokémon page on their anime section? --Cinday123 (Talk) 11:17, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

So where to see the image's quality? --Cinday123 (Talk) 11:24, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
It would not be blurry, fuzzy, would be an HD image of 1280 x 720, and the Pokémon would be the center of the image. G50 11:39, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Question about romanizing generic subjects

Jsphmagana likes to add romanized readings of a topic to articles (like so). I previously (on April 16) went on a bit of a spree removing most of those edits, which I justified to myself because a staff member had done the same for one of them; however, I think I may have only seen that on a Pokemon's page (perhaps this), which might mean it doesn't necessarily extend to generic pages (since Pokemon pages do actually have the romanization elsewhere, in their infobox). And I just realized that Jsphmagana later redid a few romanizations that I didn't notice (and this is also after a staff member asked him not to on his talk page)...

Most pages I see don't generally have romanizations. Episode/chapter titles don't; pages like Pokémon Professor, Pokémon League, Pokémon Trainer, Secret Base don't; Solaceon Town, Parfum Palace, Mt. Pyre don't; Potion, Pokéblock, Berry, Apricorn don't... Generally, it seems to me like the status quo is not to have romanizations. (Personally, I don't see much use for them, anyways.) But I don't actually know of any sort of policy about it. I'd like to know if it's okay for me to keep removing them, and/or if Jsphmagana really is out of line to keep adding them back. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:52, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

Just stepping in here. Yeah, those aren't really necessary, especially when the city/town pages and Pokémon pages already have them in their infoboxes. You may revert his edits. The policies (or Manual of Styles) for Japanese names are here and here.--ForceFire 04:10, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Uploading math equations

Hey. I want to upload a corrected version of the stat generating formulas for the IV article, as well as adding a section on how to properly compute IVs with correct error estimates (most IV calculators use a brute force method), but I am unable to upload files since this is a brand new account. This is really the only part of the project I'm interested in so I don't foresee being able to get autoconfirmed by editing other pages. Would it be possible for me to either get the permissions to edit those pages or give the files to someone else to upload? - unsigned comment from Pokemath (talkcontribs)

Project Itemdex out-of-date template

I'm thinking it's not quite appropriate for me to change the currently listed/used Template:Itlistbod on Project ItemDex to be the newer Template:Itemlist, so as the project leader, would you update that just to make sure that no one references that and decides to use the old template? On a similar note, perhaps you could also update Itlistbod to Itemlist on Project Routes. That project's leader, Clarky13, is apparently on haitus. Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:54, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

The old template is going to be replaced with the Itemlist template on the remaining pages and then deleted. G50 03:28, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

Magnagate Dungons

So I only just recently found the horde of Magnagate Dungeon articles you made over a year ago. Before seeing these, I ended up doing quite a bit of research on this bonus game mode. I reported the larger part of my findings here, and made an outline of one dungeon in my userspace. I was wondering if you or anyone has found something more to possibly add to this, as I've been playing alot of GTI recently, I've been trying to fill in missing information while doing so, but when it comes to stuff like this, I'm at a loss on where to go. All I have at this point is a few text files for three other dungeons, and 16 total dungeons. saved in my game that I can keep going through as much as I want. I don't even give a Schif (TalkContribs)

When the English version of the game came out, I was trying to determine which English names were the same as the Japanese ones I discovered. Unfortunately after Gen. VI came out, I had held off on finishing this project. Every different set of dungeons have the same look, I had found out. For now if you could find out as many different dungeon names (the number of different first word and second word of the name) as you can, we can get to the next step of matching the English and Japanese names. Screenshots of each different designed dungeon would really help in determining this as well. In the Japanese version, I was up to 300 Magnagate dungeons when I eventually stopped. G50 03:27, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
The only problem on my end there, is I have really no way of getting screenshots on my 3DS. I heard of one way (I think it was the MiiVerse or something), but I couldn't get it to work, and Google did not really help much. The names are easy enough to take a crack at, apart from the fact that the game can only save 16 at a time, though. I don't even give a Schif (TalkContribs) 01:09, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
If I may quickly interrupt, I have done the Miiverse trick, so I might be able to help on that front. Basically, while you are playing the game and are at a spot you want to make a screenshot of, you can suspend the game by going to the Home menu and select the Miiverse icon in the upper-right of the touch screen. Since you have the game in a suspended state, the 3DS should direct you to the Pokémon™ Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity Miiverse Community after logging into the Nintendo Network and connecting to Miiverse. This is where things might get a bit tricky. Once into the community, you will be able to see on the middle of the bottom screen a button that says "Post" with a green icon and a second button that says "Saved Posts." You should click on the "Post" button. Then, you can click on the icon in the upper right corner of the bottom screen. It should look like a picture with a icon of a plus sign in the corner. Once clicked, you should see your game in the state it was when suspended. Just touch which screen you want to post to the Miiverse, write out something in the comment section, and you should be able to submit the message by click on the button in the lower right corner of the touch screen called "Post." You will then be able to see the post from a computer. --Super goku (talk) 00:09, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

It is possible to make a news article on Bulbanews with an old date? I mean, to create the article today and put the date of, say for example, January 2014 ? →PikaTepig999 06:49, 20 January 2015 (UTC) | Edited 06:50, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Yes, however it shouldn't be done when creating an article. G50 07:28, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
I mean, in India, the anime used to earlier air on Cartoon Network. In May 2011, the anime rights were bought by Disney and it began airing on Hungama TV, with an entirely new cast. So it should have been reported on Bulbanews but at that time it was not done so the news could be added now but with the date of May 2014. →PikaTepig999 08:40, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Pokémon Rumble U

I'm putting together the list of everything and where it can be caught for this game so that I can quickly add it once the new sidegames layout is completed. There are things I'm noticing:

  • Some stages don't have rewards listed. Were these overlooked and not added?
  • The post-game areas are missing a lot of stages. Do you have this information?

Asking you since you created the Variety Battle page. CycloneGU (talk) 15:15, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

As I was using YouTube videos of the game being played (I don't have a Wii U so I can't get the game), I was only able to put in the information I got from the playthrough videos. G50 18:27, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I was planning to use that strategy for the back areas. Though there are no game walkthroughs on GameFAQs, I did find video guides by three or more people, so maybe that will help. Whose guides did you use on Youtube, BTW, so I don't revisit them? CycloneGU (talk) 19:58, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
I used Tealgamemaster and one other YouTuber that had the Japanese version (The videos are no longer in my viewing history so I can't look his name up). G50 23:06, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. I started watching one by WiiRikeToPlay (originally found them from the NSMBW hacks, "Another" and "Newer"). The GameFAQs ones also seem unique. I'll see what I can find out from the other playthroughs.
Meanwhile, I've started my probing of Battle Trozei data. Pulled up an FAQ with guidelines on how to unlock everything so I can verify it (particularly the Stage 5 and 6 per area, though I can otherwise see silhouettes and refer to the FAQ to see if it matches an identity if needed). I never had 1-6 opened up as I never A-ranked two of the initial stages for some reason, and I had no clue 1-6 was actually difficult; trying to tell Plusle and Minun apart is incredibly tough, and no easier with Pachirisu present. LOL So that mission is started with Area 1 completed. Only another 10 or so to go. CycloneGU (talk) 23:10, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Adding transfer-only moves to Pokedex pages

I don't know if I can word this better myself, so I'm going to quote Nescientist.

Sumwun and I believe that, for the moves, an additional section "By transfer from an earlier generation" would be sensible. (Please refer to User talk:Force Fire#Transfer-only moves and ability changes.) The addition of this subsection would enable users to tell what moves <species> can know (in <game/generation>) at one glance.
It's very well possible even Tiddlywinks is underestimating how difficult it is to answer the "know in <game/generation>" question (as much as I initially did). As Sumwun said at the referenced talk page, currently, you'd have to click at least up to 6 links to learnset pages, assuming you already know by heart how transfer works (and that you can't transfer Pokémon from GO by any means, which is what I actually doublechecked). And additionally, you might have to actually neglect irrelevant sections on learnset pages (for example, in USUM/GenVII, Bulbasaur cannot know AncientPower AFAIK). (If there's a faster method, I'd like to hear it.)
And I can't stress how important I think that question is, for I believe it is the central question to that species and learnset pages should be providing an answer to (the use case). It all boils down to that use case: in Tiddlywinks' words, what's the "concern" species/learnset pages try to address? I can't sketch a question/use case that would include "By events" but not "By transfer from a prior generation". (Well, for USUM, I can sketch the question "What moves can <species> with black clover know?", but that's arguably a "special" case, and probably comp-centric*.) I would like to know what you guys think that use case should be.
Regarding Tiddlywinks' comment about this coming from a "specific focus like comp/challenges", I took some time to think about that. Apart from the fact that I don't think the use case is comp-centric even, it is also not subjective, but purely factual, unlike the questions you said "we're never going to do" (and, by the way, I agree we shouldn't). For example, I recall that I once designed a team for my next playthrough, and I was searching possible moves for them. From context, I can recreate it must've been for XY before ORAS came out, because I wanted my Swinub to have a good Special Ground-type STAB and ended up breeding it in an earlier generation so I could teach it Earth Power via move tutor, then transfered (and traded) it to the new save file. I don't think that I ever was, in any point in time, trying to answer a question where I required all current subsections but not "By transfer from a prior generation".
I would like to know what you guys think that use case should be, and whether you think the suggestion subsection is sensible.

Vigoroth in South Province (Area One)

Hello! I just noticed your recent edit adding Vigoroth as an encounter to South Province (Area One), and I took a further look into it. I don't think it's actually possible to encounter a Vigoroth in this zone unless it somehow followed you from another proximal zone where it can spawn. This is because all Pokémon in S/V have a range of levels they can spawn within, and if this range of levels is outside an Area's level range (e.g. 5-9 for South Province Area One), it cannot spawn in that area. Vigoroth's level range, from datamined sources agreed used by multiple sites, is 22-55, which falls outside SPA1's range.

Additionally, while some Pokémon are set to spawn in any applicable biome in an area that their level range allows, Vigoroth is not one of these Pokémon. Specifically, Vigoroth can only spawn in South Province (Area Five), West Province (Area Three), Glaseado Mountain, and Casseroya Lake, as its biome spawn points and level ranges allow within these areas.

Here is a link to the datamined sheet I use as one source of reference: https://pastebin.com/hhdpw1M7 Below is Vigoroth's encounter data from the sheet. Vigoroth:

   Gender: Default
   Encounter Rate: 30%
   Minimum Level: 22
   Maximum Level: 55
   Biome: Mountain (20%), Grass (20%)
Area: South Province (Area Five), West Province (Area Three), Glaseado Mountain, Casseroya Lake
   Time: Morning, Noon, Evening, Night
   Version: Scarlet, Violet
   Held Item: None

These data should stay consistent between datamines; please feel free to compare it to other sources of datamined information. I considered the possibility that it was a Fixed Encounter, as these can exist outside the level ranges of an area, but there are no reported Slakoth fixed encounters between sites with spawn point information. Additionally, if it were a Fixed Encounter, it would spawn in that location 100% of the time and therefore be highly reproducible, which doesn't seem to be the case.

Is there anything you can do to reproduce this Vigoroth encounter, or to verify its biome? Otherwise, it may be best to leave it off for now.

You can find a list of exact spawn locations for Pokémon in SPA1 here (German): https://www.pokewiki.de/Spezial:Paldea-Karte/S%C3%BCdliche_Zone_1

An list of Fixed Encounters, with pinned locations, can be found here: https://www.serebii.net/pokearth/paldea/southprovinceareaone.shtml

In addition to making sure these three resources are consistent for a given spawn, I usually like to make sure it is reproducible in game before adding it to a table. Because this encounter doesn't appear in any of the sources, and I can't seem to reproduce it, I think it might be better to remove it for now?

Thanks for taking the time to read all this! HeirOfHeart (talk) 01:37, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

It was definitely an odd encounter, what was strange was that this was towards the beginning of the game so I'm not sure how it could have followed me lol. It was by rock with the Gimmighoul by the cliff that cannot be climbed to Area 5 without the climbing ability yet. Feel free to remove it, since maybe you're right and maybe it glitch spawned for some reason. G50 01:47, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
Alright, sounds good. Also, on SPA3, thank you for pointing out that Drifloon spawns in that region! I totally missed it, and added it as a Town biome encounter. I also moved Slakoth into a "Mass Outbreaks" table. That being said, I'm a bit skeptical that it can spawn in MOs either, as the problem isn't a lack of spawn points - it has those - but a lack of implemented headbutt trees like the ones they can fall from in SPA5. I don't believe Slakoth can spawn on the ground, and need a headbutt tree to spawn in (even in MOs), which was supported by a few more experienced dataminers in the Bulbagarden Discord. I'll leave it as is for now because I'm not positive on how this would work for MOs, though I've received confirmation about them not being able to spawn randomly - I think they'd experience the same issue in MOs, though.
On the topic of Mass Outbreaks, do we know how they work? Can they occur in any biome where the Pokémon can spawn, or can they be restricted to biomes within an area? Probably relevant to how MOs should be formatted for other pages as well. HeirOfHeart (talk) 01:54, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
Slakoth I can 100% confirm for Mass Outbreak due to the map symbol that appeared directly in the area and caught multiple out of it. I'm actually not sure how Mass Outbreaks work, but I think it picks Pokémon out of the existing spawn pool, as I've never seen new Pokémon in the area. G50 02:01, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
I see! Maybe what happened is that the large numbers required for mass outbreaks has the Pokémon spawn on the ground, rather than in trees, so they're able to spawn? Were these Slakoth perhaps on the ground? If that's the case, and they specifically only spawn in mass outbreaks, maybe just putting it back in the main table like you had it is better, with a notation that Slakoth will only spawn in mass outbreaks at the bottom. Sorry for changing it in that case! HeirOfHeart (talk) 08:29, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Scarlet/Violet Spawning

Hi, I noticed that you've been trying to help out with the SV random encounter lists. I'm the one who's been assembling those tables, but I would appreciate it if you don't add additional entries to the list. An example of this is West Province Area Two, where you added quite a few Pokémon that don't actually randomly spawn there. I think I know where the confusion came from, it was the in game Pokédex telling you it spawns there, right? If so I'd be happy to explain that the in game Pokédex can result in a lot of false positives.Dot455 (talk) 02:33, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

The spawns are based on the list I wrote down months ago of encounters I ran into. Only issue is, I didn't write down levels or exact spots, so hopefully you know that info and can fill that in. G50 02:41, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
Well you're right about the ones you added to Asado Desert. That's a can of worms involving sub areas, which is something I haven't dealt with yet. As for WPA2, I can say with certainty many of the Pokémon you added are physically unable to spawn as random encounters. They can spawn in the area and meets every condition for spawning, except for their level. Gastrodon for example only spawns from level 30-55. So unless if I missed a single beach spawner that go up to level 30, it can't spawn there. The issue with most of these entries is that they are outside of the level range. I have no clue how Bronzor is on the list though. It can only spawn in ruins and no where else, and WPA2 has no ruins. It's also possible that you've listed wanderers you've found on the list. Which are Pokémon explicitly programmed to spawn in certain locations, and are not random.Dot455 (talk) 02:54, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
Bronzor I might have thought I ran into there, but didn't realize I was in a different location, my bad. G50 03:06, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
I just ask that you remove all of the entries in the random spawn tables for now. I'm going through very strict testing on ensuring Pokémon spawn in these locations. I do appreciate the attempt to help though, and I'm willing to explain the finer details of how the spawn system works. Or even share the program I use to generate the tables. Dot455 (talk) 03:13, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
Probably best that you do that, I don't want to accidentally screw that up and look dumb again lol. G50 03:20, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Messaggio di benvenuto mancante e prime modifiche

Ciao!

Ti ringrazio, spero tu possa aiutarmi. A presto :P --Zizork (talk) 11:44, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

G50 21:17, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
Alright, got it! Then, I have to apologize, 'cause I had probably overestimated your Italian a bit... It would have been better if I had texted you in English from the beginning, sorry ^^. Anyway, thanks for your help. Bye ;) --Zizork (talk) 13:16, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
