Armaldo (Japanese: アーマルド Armaldo) is a dual-type Rock/Bug fossil Pokémon.
It evolves from Anorith starting at level 40, after it is revived from a Claw Fossil.
Biology
Armaldo is a fossilized, prehistoric Pokémon no longer found in the wild, and must be evolved from an Anorith resurrected from a Claw Fossil.
Physiology
Armaldo is a bipedal, amphibious Pokémon, somewhat resembling a mantis shrimp and covered with thick, heavy-duty plates.
It is mainly colored blue, with accents of yellow, black, white and red. Additionally, Armaldo’s eyes, like its pre-evolution, extend from the sides of its head. However, they are not beady and instead oblong in shape. Armaldo also retains the black pattern on its head present in its pre-evolution. Armaldo has a long neck, with the lobes that were present on the sides of Anorith’s body there, although there are now three pairs instead of four. Armaldo has a yellow lower jaw, and a continuation of the yellow coloration on the rims of the armor on its underside. The yellow patterning encircles the holes on the armor of the underside out of which Armaldo’s blue-and-black-tipped, segmented blade-like arms extend. The yellow rim on the shell underside culminates on Armaldo’s lower belly, although there is also yellow rimming on the fin-like, triangular "wings" on Armaldo’s sides. Armaldo’s legs are thick, with black-colored knees and two toes. Armaldo’s long tail is similar to that of Lugia’s in shape, although blue with black fins.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Armaldo's claws have the power to punch through a steel slab. Armaldo's claws can also be freely extended or contracted, Armaldo is encased in a sturdy body, so attacks will only bounce off harmlessly. Armaldo has access to a variety of claw-based moves such as X-Scissor, Aerial Ace, Slash etc. Since Armaldo is fully evolved, it is capable of learning powerful moves such as Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
Behavior
When bothered, Armaldo responds with powerful attacks. It calms itself down afterwards by eating good food. An amphibious Pokémon, it usually lives on land. However, when it hunts for prey, it dives beneath the ocean.
Habitat
The exact habitat of Armaldo is unknown, but so far Claw Fossils are only found in the Hoenn and Sinnoh regions.

NPC appearances
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky: An Armaldo serves a mentor to the future Guildmaster Wigglytuff while he was still an Igglybuff. Initially reluctant due to Igglybuff's devil-may-care attitude, he takes him on as an apprentice after sensing a powerful intuition from the baby Pokémon, and eventually grows close to the young child. He tends to lampshade many RPG staples, such as traps and bosses, but is just as easily fooled by them. Armaldo is in fact an outlaw, and is caught after clearing the Fortune Ravine. Igglybuff protests wildly, and is about to unleash a powerful Hyper Voice (the first show of his infamous temper), until Armaldo calms him down and explains the situation; he gives the still-protesting Igglybuff a Defend Globe (the first treasure the pair found on their first adventure) as a gift to remember him by, and willingly gives himself up to the authorities. This story serves as the backdrop for the second special episode, Igglybuff the Prodigy.

Trivia
- Armaldo and its pre-evolution, Anorith, are the only Template:Type2 Pokémon with genders that are not in the Bug egg group.
- Armaldo cannot learn Surf or Dive, despite its Emerald Pokédex entry, its presence in the Water 3 Egg Group, the fact that it's seen swimming with someone on its back on the Pokémon Adventures manga, its location in Pal Park, and certain Trainers with Armaldo that know Surf. Furthermore, in each Mystery Dungeon, Armaldo cannot naturally move over water while its pre-evolution Anorith can.
- Armaldo, its pre-evolution Anorith, Azurill and Castform are the only non-Water-type Pokémon which learn Water Gun by leveling up.
- Although Armaldo and its pre-evolution are the only Pokémon of the above that cannot become a Water-type.
- Armaldo and its pre-evolution are the only Pokémon to have the ability Swift Swim that are also weak to the Water-type.
Origin
It appears to be based upon the Anomalocaris, although it shares some physical traits with dinosaurs.
Name origin
Armaldo's name possibly originated from a corruption of armor; however, it could also be a combination of armor and armadillo.
