Pecharunt's caretakers, also known as the old couple, are characters from the backstory of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero epilogue: Mochi Mayhem.
History
Prior to The Teal Mask
An old couple that lived in a distant land, cared for a small timid Pokémon named Pecharunt, that they loved very much. One day, seeking more of their affection, Pecharunt created special mochi using the poison within its shell, these mochi are Binding Mochi, mochi with the power of chaining others to Pecharunt's will, also drawing out the greed within them as well. The couple happily ate the mochi, falling under the thrall of Pecharunt as a result.
They eventually started to ask for things for Pecharunt due to their newly drawn greed, Pecharunt gladly did everything they've asked though only seeking more of their love, even using its mochi and chain to tame a Pokémon living around there to help it out on it. One day however, the couple had an uncommon request, they asked it to retrieve a set of four brilliant masks that were rumored to exist in the land of Kitakami, which Pecharunt agreed to retrieve, taming two new retainers to go and find the masks.
Pecharunt and its retainers failed to retrieve the masks and were all defeated by their owner; Ogerpon, it's currently unknown what had happened to the couple but considering how much time has passed since then, it's heavily implied that the two died of old age.
