Merge with Uva Academy

Alright, now that the games have been out for a little while, I feel we can start discussing this. I think these articles could benefit from being merged, as the information about them is almost identical, and merging will prevent the need to copy over info from one article to the other. As it stands, this article is missing information that the other has. I think the simplest solution could be to merge the two articles under Naranja and Uva Academies or something of the sort. Thoughts? Landfish7 04:01, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

The only notable differences are the name, color scheme, Violet/Scarlet Books on the library shelf, and Professor Sada or Turo being mentioned/shown on a video call during the story. Unlike other "version exclusive" locations such as Black City and White Forest, this is almost entirely cosmetic. I see no reason these should be treated as distinct locations in separate articles. I agree. The articles being separate would just cause a lot of information to be repeated on both pages and potentially lead to consistency problems between the two pages. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 20:08, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
Idk how much more conversation to expect considering it hasn't been touched in a month, but I'd say it's almost self explanatory. maybe we can just make a merged article and call it "Mezagosa Academy" sort of as was done for Stow-on-Side Stadium-- 4iamking (talk) 21:32, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
I don't think an overly conjectural title is appropriate or necessary in this case. I think "Naranja and Uva Academies", or something of the sort, would work fine as the title. Landfish7 22:28, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
This conversation hasn't been touched in a while, but it seems like we're all in agreement that this merge is a good idea. The question is just what to call the new page. "Naranja and Uva Academies" is alright though a little lengthy; I double checked the official Scarlet & Violet website and after introducing the names of the two academies, it just refers to them both as "the academy" from then on. What do people think about just calling the merged page "Academy"? Or "Academy (Paldea)", to remove ambiguity? Storm Aurora (talk) 21:14, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
I'm not a fan of Academy as a title to be honest. Landfish7 23:19, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
Well, if no one has any other suggestions, I'd say someone can go ahead and merge the pages under the title "Naranja and Uva Academies". I'd do it myself, but I don't actually know how to merge pages together... Storm Aurora (talk) 04:33, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
Unfortunately it requires staff approval. Once we have that I'll be happy to do the leg work of merging the articles and relinking. Landfish7 05:13, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

(resetting indent)I've created a draft of the merged article. It just needs a new infobox that consolidates the info from both articles, if anyone would like to help make that. Landfish7 06:14, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

I added an infobox to the page, using a picture of the exterior of Naranja Academy for the image. I figure that since the only difference between the two exteriors is the school crest, which is pretty small in the image anyways, it's alright to just show the one. We may want to add a gallery section showing the two academies' crests, though. Storm Aurora (talk) 02:22, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
Now that the Naranja Academy is appearing in the anime and not the Uva Academy, seems like the two are distinct enough to keep them as separate pages after all. Plus we can add stuff like TCG and merch appearances of each to their respective pages. Thoughts? Landfish7 09:51, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
Do a thing called it. MaverickNate 10:15, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

Merging would be a good idea

I don't believe the two academies are differential enough to have two separate pages about them. Can anyone give a valid reason not to merge the two articles? --CuteShaymin (talk) 05:03, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

To be more specific, the two academies appear in different media and have differing appearances in the TCG and merchandise, so it's helpful to keep them separate and allow the two articles to be expanded with their unique appearances. Landfish7 18:44, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
Return to "Naranja Academy" page.
