Bombastic Bibarel & Heroic Hippopotas (Japanese: VS ビーダルとヒポポタス VS Bibarel and Hippopotas), titled VS Bibarel & Hippopotas in the Chuang Yi translation, is the 361st chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga, and the 24th chapter of the Diamond & Pearl arc.

It is subtitled Rain and Footprints (Japanese: 雨と足跡 Rain and Footprints) in the VIZ Media translation and Rain and Footprints in the Chuang Yi translation.

As Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum make their way past the Valor Lakefront, they are suddenly caught in a downpour. They are about to head to a nearby hotel to get out of the rain, but Platinum tells the group that she has plans for them all to stay at the Hotel Grand Lake near Route 214. Instead, Pearl suggests stopping for lunch at the Seven Stars Restaurant.

As Pearl and Chatler walk through the rain and leave behind footprints, a man can be seen following them. When he comes across the footprints, he yells out in excitement. Chatler turns when it hears the exclamation, but the man is nowhere to be seen.

When Pearl enters the restaurant, he is surprised to be met with glares from everyone in the building. Two Trainers send their Pokémon out towards Pearl, only stopping them from attacking when Pearl yells that he is a customer. Pearl then learns that the restaurant encourages battling amongst its patrons. When he overhears that people can win prize money by having battles, he calls in Diamond to have a Double Battle with him against the other Trainers. Diamond and Pearl have Tru and Chimler work together to fight against the opposing Pokémon, resulting in their victory.

After the battle, Diamond and Pearl perform their comedy routine for everyone at the restaurant while Platinum tries to figure out how to cross the now-muddied floor. When she is about to take a step onto it, the man who had been tracking footprints leaps out at her. Through tears, he begs the group to not disturb his work of collecting footprints.

The man, revealed to be named Dr. Footstep, brings the three to his house to show them his wall-to-wall collection of footprints. He claims that from footprints, he is able to gather information from Pokémon and their Trainers. He tells Pearl that Chatler's footprints indicate that the two are close.

As Platinum and Dr. Footstep happily talk about footprint research, they are interrupted by a growl. Dr. Footstep excitedly runs outside to find a Hippowdon by his house. He reveals to the group that he had set up a trap in order to record its footprints. As Dr. Footstep celebrates, Hippowdon suddenly blasts sand in all directions. A vortex of sand sends everyone flying through the air.
