This card was available as a SWSH Black Star Promo in the Meowth VMAX Special Collection from January 3, 2020. In Japan, it was released as a S-P Promotional card and was first available to people who participated in mission 1 of the Pokémon Card Challenge, held at participating Pokémon Card Gym venues in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, and Chiba, as well as at Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo, Pokémon Center Tokyo DX, and Pokémon Center Tokyo Bay on the weekend of December 14 and 15, 2019. The Pokémon Card Challenge was a Limited format event using the V Starter Sets; all participants, regardless of wins or losses, were given an envelope containing a copy of this card and a clue to the location of the Pokémon Card Stadium, the second mission of the challenge.[1][2]
It was available again in Japan as one of four possible prizes competitors could redeem immediately for 6 Play Points at the 2020 Aichi Champion's League, held at the Aichi International Exhibition Center, Tokoname on December 21, 2019.[3] Competitors could also earn this card in the 10, 14, and 20 Play Point prize packages, though could only exchange their accrued points once during the meeting. Eligible events included the official Champion's League 2020 tournament, the 4-League Battle, the 3 on 3 Battle, and the V Deck Battle. 2 Play Points were awarded to Junior League competitors for participating in the official Champion's League 2020 tournament and 6 Play Points were awarded to Senior, Master, and Open League competitors who participated in at least three qualifying round matches. A further 4 Play Points were awarded to Junior League competitors who achieved two consecutive wins at the First Stage during the qualifying round and 8 Play Points to Senior, Master, and Open League competitors who achieved five or more wins in the qualifying round. 8 Play Points were also awarded to Junior League competitors who reached the single-elimination finals. 2 Play Points were awarded for participating in the 4-League Battle, the 3 on 3 Battle, and the V Deck Battle. A further 2 Play Points were awarded per win in either the 4-League Battle or the 3 on 3 Battle.[3]
