This card was included as a Regular card and as a Full Art card in the Shining Fates expansion. The Regular print features artwork by Ryuta Fuse, while the Full Art print features artwork by nagimiso. In Japan, the Regular print was released as one of the S-P Promotional cards and was given to participants of Limited format Charizard HR Competitions. Competitors received ten Legendary Heartbeat packs and 15 copies each of basic Grass, Lightning, Fighting, Psychic, and Metal Energy cards upon paying the entry fee and were required to construct a 40-card deck comprising solely of these cards. Charizard HR Competitions were held at participating Pokémon Centers, Pokémon Card Stations, and stores hosting Pokémon Card Gym meetings between July 23 and September 22, 2020.[1] An invitation-only event consisting of eight players was also held at Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo on July 17, 2020.[2] The Full Art print was subsequently included in the Shiny Star V subset.
It was reprinted, alongside a new Full Art print, in the Silver Tempest expansion. Both prints feature artwork by Hideki Ishikawa.
The Regular print was first released as a Traditional Chinese-language S-P Promotional card and was given to participants of Eevee Evolution Type Battle Tournaments, which were Limited format events hosted by Pokémon Card Gym stores. People wishing to participate were required to purchase 15 booster packs from either Skyscraping Perfection or Blue Sky Stream and use the cards to construct a 40-card deck. Basic Energy cards could be brought by participants or could be supplied by the host store.[3][4] The Eevee Evolution Type Battle Tournaments comprised three events, each focusing on one of the Generation I Eeveelutions. In Hong Kong, the Water Eevee Special Card Competition was held between August 16 and 29, 2021; the Lightning Eevee Special Card Competition was held between August 30 and September 12, 2021; and the Fire Eevee Special Card Competition was held between September 13 and 26, 2021.[5] In Taiwan, the Water Eevee Special Card Competition was held between October 5 and 17, 2021; the Lightning Eevee Special Card Competition was held between October 18 and 31, 2021; and the Fire Eevee Special Card Competition was held between November 1 and 14, 2021.[6] The respective top prizes in each of these events were Vaporeon VMAX, Jolteon VMAX, and Flareon VMAX.
Similar tournaments were subsequently held in Thailand and Indonesia. The Thai version was named Eevee Evolution Battle and was conducted remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[7] Participants were required to purchase either ten Skyscraping Perfection booster packs or ten Blue Sky Stream booster packs from participating stores and use their receipt to register a slot during the tournament period. Tournaments were held twice each Tuesday to Saturday between September 28 and November 20, 2021 (with the exception of November 4) and games were conducted with 40-card decks that used cards from the purchased booster packs plus any number of basic Energy cards. All participants were given a copy of the S-P Promotional print.[8] In Indonesia, the tournament was known as the Eevee Evolution Championship Battle and was conducted in the same way as those held in Hong Kong and Taiwan. It similarly consisted of four Eeveelution-themed events that offered Pokémon VMAX cards as the top prizes. The Vaporeon VMAX event was held between November 5 and 18, 2021; the Jolteon VMAX event was held between November 19 and December 2, 2021; the Flareon VMAX event was held between December 3 and 16, 2021; and the Espeon VMAX event was held between December 17 and 30, 2021. All participants were given a copy of the S-P Promotional print and a V-UNION Promo Card Pack.[9]

Based on the prize cards awarded in the other Asian tournaments, it is likely the Japanese version of the S-P Promotional print was intended to be distributed in a similar manner; however, due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, the equivalent Japanese event, the Summer Pokémon Card Campaign, involved battles conducted from home.
