Effect

Beak Blast is a decreased priority move. The user charges up at the beginning of the turn and executes Beak Blast at -3 priority. All who make contact with the user during the charging phase are burned.

Its charging message is displayed before any other moves.

The charging phase occurs whether or not the user's status would prevent it from executing Beak Blast. For example, if the user is confused, the confusion check is performed before the strike, not the initial charge.

Pokémon with Bulletproof are immune to Beak Blast, but are not immune to the burn.

Generation VIII

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Beak Blast cannot be selected in a battle.

Generation IX

In Versions 1.0 to 2.0.2 of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Beak Blast could not be selected in a battle. Starting with Version 3.0.0, it is usable and functions the same as it did in previous generations.

  • This move mimics a toucan's ability to regulate its body heat by using its beak as a heat sink.[1]
