Held item: Difference between revisions

Held items range from {{Berries}}, which can be used in battle for recovery of {{stat|HP}}, curing of a [[status condition]], raising of a stat, and other effects; to the [[Soothe Bell]], which boosts [[friendship]] gained.

Though most items can be held by a Pokémon, many have no effect while held. [[Key Item]]s and [[HM]]s cannot be held; in Generation IV, only {{p|Giratina}} can hold the [[Timespace orbs|Griseous Orb]], and [[Apricorn]]s and [[Poké Ball]]s made from them cannot be held; from Generation V onward, [[TM]]s cannot be held. Any other type of item may be held, but [[medicine]] (except [[Berry Juice]]), [[TM]]s, [[evolutionary stone]]s, [[Fossil]]s, [[Repel]]s, [[escape item]]s, [[battle item]]s, [[valuable item]]s, [[exchangeable item]]s, [[Mulch]], [[Flute]]s, and [[Wing]]s have no effect apart from changing the power of {{m|Fling}} and increasing the damage taken from {{m|Knock Off}} (from Generation VI onward). [[Poké Ball]]s have no effect while held and cannot be flung.

Berries have varying effects. Some weaken [[supereffective]] moves, and others cure [[status condition]]s. Berries also affect the power and strength of the move {{m|Natural Gift}}. All can be used to make [[Pokéblock]]s or [[Poffin]].

 

Starting in {{g|Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire}}, these items allow {{p|Groudon}} and {{p|Kyogre}} to undergo [[Primal Reversion]] when held.

 

Drives change the [[type]] of the holder's {{m|Techno Blast}}.

These items, when held by a Pokémon, will cause it to undergo [[evolution]] when activated by another event, such as gaining a [[level]] or being [[trade]]d.

Mail allows players to send messages to each other by attaching it to a Pokémon that is to be traded.

 

Scarves up the [[Contest condition]] of the Pokémon that is holding it without the Pokémon being fed [[Pokéblock]]s or [[Poffin]].
